I met Jeff (the generous guy who maintains the list for us) today for lunch, where I handed over the donation checks I've received to date. Our initial goal was $350. Fortunately, we met it. Unfortunately, the drive cost Jeff $425. Fortunately, we BLEW AWAY that goal! As of this today, we've collected $515.09! (Jeff was very touched...) Anyway, you guys all take a bow...you deserve it! I was particularly impressed by the involvement by "new" folks who came out of the woodwork! In particular, thanks to our good friend Anthony "Brooklyn" Amato! * wink * Anyone who sent in a donation late, not to worry -- I'll forward all "stragglers" to Jeff in two weeks... So anyway, I bought Jeff that coke and cheese sandwich I promised, and we rambled on about guy topics for hours (you know, bandwidth and such)...then we went to "U-Do-It-Electronics" to drool over DSS systems and buy various electronic parts. A fully satisfying "guy" afternoon, if I do say so myself! We're fortunate to have Jeff sponsoring this list, and to have such generous souls supporting it... - -- Dennis (Retiring the Wal-Mart Bell) Harris p.s. I need everyone to get together with their local EDAs over the next several weeks, watch them closely, write down any and all embarrassing activities, and then report them to me... Hey kids, Once upon a time I was on this Jewel list months and months and months ago, about when WWSYS was breaking and I thought the people here were great, just a bunch of kind-hearted people with common interest. Unfortunately (sp?) the amount of mail I was getting was way to much fer my parent's little 'puter to take so I had to get off :( But now I have my own *big* computer and I'm back...and back on the list! And let me tell you, it feels great! But there was one thing that really made me want to get back on here.... A few weeks ago, I too had a Jewel dream. Being as it was a few weeks back it's a little hazy now, but because others are sharing their astrol-plane experiences about Jewel, I figured I should too. THIS IS THE DREAM: It started with me coming out of a small club after seeing her show. I had become so emotionally involved with her performance that I felt like I was on the brink of tears I was alone and I started walking away from the venue down a small side street when I saw a an orange VW Microbus parked on the side. I could make out a few people in the van and as I walked by I cought the eye of one of the passengers and stopped dead in my tracks. It was her. I smiled, gave her a thumbs up and mouthed the words (an I remember this like it happed yesterday) "You were wonderful." She smiled back and mouthed "Thank you." Presumably because of the emotional intensity of the show combined with the fact that I had just come within inches of The Everyday Angel, still smiling, I burst into tears. Seeing this, she opened the door to her VW, hopped out and hugged me as if we had been friends for years. And that was it. Hmmm..I donno, read into it of you like, but I know this dream is going to stay with me for a very long time. Please, if you have had any dreams about Jewel, post 'em too! (That way I won;t think I'm a total freak!) :) Take care, JAC "So often our dreams become our hobbies and it deadens our passions." -- Jewel Kilcher ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Dec 1996 22:49:32 EST From: mad_monk@juno.com (David M MacLeish) Subject: Re: sjc: w/ njc. I was wondering if anyone on the list has a complete tape of this show including the between song banter. If so please e-mail so we can workout a trade.
