Not a great lyric writer, but a decent singer/songwriter. She has a live album and a studio album, both I believe are available by mail order from Simple Machines Records (you can also pick up Dave Grohl's Late tape from them as well). More info at: http://members.aol.com/sctantrums/index.htm. I also believe she played Farm Aid. Gumwrapper Curb: Local band, kind of like Counting Crows, only a bit more rockin. They opened up for Cracker a little while back. 4-song CD from IE Records is a little pricey at $7, but if this band goes big, it'll be worth a lot more than $7. Ya'll can take swipes at me anytime (you won't hit me anyway), but taking pot shots at Mr. BB (as Jewel calls him) and Mike Connell? Christ, how misinformed can you be? Cause if you're not misinformed, you're just a stupid bastard... Alan has a professional affiliation with the Jewel management group that has to be considered. To ask him to comprimise that affiliation (requesting DAT masters, my ass), or demand more of him than he has already graciously given of himself, is plain pig-headed selfish, and you should be ashamed of yourselves! I doubt most of you whiners do as much work to earn a living as Alan puts into "gratis" list projects. Alan and Mike have given this list far more than you guys will EVER know. Despite their lame fashion sense, they are two of the most generous, stand-up guys I have ever met. So if you have a bad day, or your life sucks in general, don't take it out on these guys. Instead, buy a great big fat lab rat and swap "nose bites" (mano-a-rato) with it to get out your frustrations. I didn't get a letter off to Jewel for Thanksgiving either. You see me hassling Alan cause I screwed up? Hell no, I just kept calling Jewel's house until the police finally got that clean trace on my call (okay, the point is, I didn't hassle Alan)... I'm going to say this about "What Makes An EDA" one more time. Now picture a FOUR LEVEL process here : 1) There are folks who subscribe to this list (requires an e-mail address) 2) There are folks who consider themselves Jewel fans (requires good musical taste) 3) There are folks who consider themselves EveryDay Angels (requires a desire to associate with the Jewel sub-culture) 4) There are folks who PROVE themselves to be EveryDay Angels (requires positive interaction and sharing with other EDAs) That's the four levels. You figure out where YOU (honestly) fit in for yourself. Me, I feel I worked my way through all four levels one at a time, and had a hell of a good time doing so! And anyone who needs a hand doing likewise, there are a lot of us willing to give you all the help -- and opportunity -- you need. Other than the Good Samaritans, you will find few groups as helpful and sharing as this one. BTW, if you're offended at this post, you most definitely are NOT at level 4. If you're satisfied with ANY of the four levels, fine...enjoy it to the fullest! Just walk the serious walk before you start to talk the serious talk - -- especially when the talk involves putting down EDAs who bust their asses for the benefit of the list. Have you noticed how the loudest complainers are usually those who take, take, take and never give anything back? - -- Dennis (go, lab rat, go!) Yes, I am well aware that I have been ignoring and neglecting the EDA Poetry Page that I volunteered to set up, and I am very sorry for this. Unfortunately, I have been very busy recently. I do, however, have a vacation coming up from Dec. 21st to Jan. 2nd during which massive updates are being planned. During much of this time, my beloved IRC friend Hillary will be away and I will be left lonely and to my own devices. My "device" of choice is the Poetry Page and getting back to reading list mail, which I also have been neglecting. It has been my policy, as I mentioned when I first started the page, that no poems would be put on the page with personal consent from the author, and that just posting to the list doesn't count as consent. I don't know if this is a good idea or whether I am just being stupid, but it is the way I have decided to do things. I would appreciate that anyone who has sent a poem to the list (if your poem isn't on the page) and would like it there, please contact me. I have an inbox with over 2000 unread messages, so reading all of them and tracking down those with poem submissions would be all but impossible. Thanks all for your assistance in this. I have made a few exceptions to the aforementioned consent rule but for the most part, it is a rule I would like to follow. Thank you all for reading and I hope to be able to participate in the list as a more active member in the future. Also, one last note... I have been having problems with my ISP and every once in a while I find myself locked out, including right now. During these periods, I have to use the id of a friend. Fortunately, I have never been locked out of my email so I am not anticipating a problem, but should anyone send an email to me that bounces, there are other ways of reaching me via email. One way is to send a message to my friend Rob LaPoint at lapoint@servtech.com. Please only use this in EXTREMELY IMPORTANT circumstances and make it clear that the message is for me, Mike Schaeffer, although he will also recognize the nickname Floyd. Thanks... And it seems if I want to get anywhere in these here parts I've got to show myself. So I went to the Jingle Ball in San Diego to sell my ticket, but they said that they would reschedule Jewel and to keep the stub to use for the reschedule. So that actually sounds even better than a short set we would have gotten. The DJ mentioned that Jewel cancelled two dates before SD (cause she really wanted to show up for SD blah, blah) but is that incorrect? If I had to guess the radio station either won't follow through with it's promise or can't follow through with rescheduling Jewel. dan ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Dec 1996 11:17:51 +1130 From: kmosse@tyndale.apana.org.au (Mosse) Subject: So long Angels!!! (I'll give you details via return e-mail.) To recap: Jeff Wasilko donates his time, equipment and resources to this list at absolutely no cost to us. Sorry my hormones took over for a second there, it wont happen again) Okay, I'm gonna go a little off the subject of the movie but since This has been talked about (over and over and over) on this list, I feel that i should say something: Ohmygod!!! Renee is a mirror image of jewel (Again not a bad thing =)) The simalarities between the two are absolutely amazing! They have the exact same bone structure.(I love those cheekbones) and even their lips are alike. The only difference i found was that Renee's smile is a little crooked (Not her teeth but her smile, if her tooth was crooked i would say that Miss kilcher was living a double life :) ) Okay! Back to the movie. I am gonna try to do this without giving away _too_ much of the story. Jerry gets fired from his job (He is a sports agent working for a big corperation) and in a VERY funny scene manages to get Dorothy( an accountant) (and a goldfish) to quit and leave with him. Dorothy is a 26 year old single mother (her husband died) She has the CUTEST 6 year old son in the world. Her sons name is Ray (Jonothan Lipinski) . She lives with her older divorced older sister, who doesnt think that anyone can find happieness in a relationship with out being hurt. Dorothy has admired Jerry from afar for a long time, but was never brave enough to say anything. After Jerry and Dorothy both leave their jobs, Jerry starts his own small agent buisness with only one client left, and hires Dorothy as his accountant. After what seems like way to long, Jerry leaves his cold hearted fiance (Shes a real bitch) and goes on a date with Dorothy...Which leads to two of my favorite scenes, the first is when she walks out in the most magnificent dress i have ever seen and he says "Thats not a dress, thats an Audrey Hepburn movie".... and after a not so great date (good but not great) he walks her to her door, where one of the movies more steamier scenes takes place (Its nothing pornographic but, Lets just say its not a kids movie) And then she invites him in (Making it clear what activities will take place once inside, and its not a nice game of pictionary) He agrees (of course) and after a pretty funny scene with her slamming the bathroom door in his face they end up in bed (Laughing at the music in the radio) When all is serious (though nothing has happened yet) he says "you know this will change every thing right?" and she replies "promise?" Oh! i loved that scene! Okay, some of the stuff in the middle of the movie is kinda borring and not really about The relationship between dorothy and jerry. (Which is all i am really writing about) so i'll just skip all of the football stuff and go right to the good stuff. *****************WARNING************* I am about to give away a VERY important part. ************************************* After the relation ship seems to be going no where for Dorothy, she desides to take a job that was offered in San diego. She everything ready for the move, and is saying goodbye to jerry when in a panick (in fear of losing her) jerry asks her to marry her. she of course says yes, and they tie the knot. I HAVE SKIPPED AHEAD TO THE NEAR END OF THE MOVIE Jerry and dorothy had a fight and he goes to see his client play in a big game. well something amazing happens at the game, and jerry realizes how much he loves her and hops on the next plane home. Now her is my Favorite part of the movie! Dorothy is at home and her sister is having a womens talk groups (Hard to expl ain you'll find out later) and Jerry walks in the house and says "Hello, I want to see my wife" See spots dorothy and before she can say anything he says (This is a VERY loose quote) "Something great happened to our project tonight, to me, to us. and i you werent there to enjoy it with me" "you complete me" (if a guy said this to me i would melt) Dorothy finally gets a word in... she says "You didnt have too say all that, You had me at 'hello' " They hug, and pretty much live happily ever after. DID I FORGET ANYTHING??? (I SERIOUSLY DOUBT IT!) ********************************************************** Ok now if you are mad at me for giving away the whole story dont flame me 'cause I WARNED YOU!!!!!!!! *********************************************************** Now before i post this feel that i should tell you that if you offended by the word "Fuck" Then DO NOT see this movie! The word is used about 300 times in this movie! Even Ray (the little boy) has to reprimand jerry for udeing the word. "oooh... You said *whisper* fuck" I NOMINATE THIS MOVIE FOR AN ACADEMY AWARD! The new address is: http://chelsea.ios.com/~plaf There you will find a link to my pictures page with some new (actually now old) scans from alternative nation and the VH1 ski weekend. I will be adding many more soon, now that this server allows me to update the page from home. Let me know what you think! By the way, the old site is still there, but will disappear soon. - -- _____________________________________________________________________________ "Let others bring order to chaos.
