This whole, 'who's linked ( or should I use the verb form: lunk? ) to Kevin Bacon' thing is somewhat coincidental, because I recently recieved a chain letter ( the second best I've seen, mainly because it doesn't promise anything ) that had you write your name on it and send it to someone else...kinda neat. Then it had this theory: Everyone in the world is 6 steps away from everyone else. Just like the Kevin Bacon thing. It doesn't sound right at first, but if you think about it...doesn't everyone know about a 1,000 people...that's really not too many if you think about it. Then take off 900 for overlaps...that's a bit excessive too. So EVERYONE ( except the Unabomber ) knows at least 100 people! Then...when you work out the links...you get 1,000,000,000,000 people you're linked with within 6 steps. Considering that the number of people that exist today is around only 5,000,000,000...you've got it easy! In fact...scientists estimate that only 80,000,000,000 humans have lived EVER! It shows a very stylized scene of clicking on a 'Launch' button, which pops open a trap door in the form of an Intel Pentium Processor chip, and whisks you away to first a Cracker performance, and then Jewel! The implication is that there's plenty of Jewel to be seen on your computer. The ad is tagged with logos and announcer for the Intel Pentium Processor. It would be tough to be very big here; there are 30,000 students at the U of Iowa. I thought I was a dork in high school. I certainly was in Junior High. I cought trouble from the "popular" guys when I was a freshman. Then, I got involved in theatre, speech, and music, and really weirded out. My friends and I would always act silly. I went to a graduation party--THE graduation party--and was shocked to find out that the "popular" guys thought my friends and I were funny, and had wanted us to party with them. But, being slightly shy as they were, they never got the guts to ask (I've found "popular" people can be really brave with insults, but have a hard time talking civilly to strangers--generalization). So, we hung out, and actually got along for the night. All summer they'd say 'hi' and stuff whenever they saw me. Yeah, everywhere I go, people notice me. I'm sure it's because of my magnetic personality, but the fact that I'm 6'1" with incredibly curly, big hair also helps too. People seem to remember me. Oh well.
