BMG has POY for $2.99 now! Buy a dozen and give them away to your friends and family who might need an angel in their lives. Maybe we can get Jewel a double-platinum for her first CD. BTW, I have know idea if you _can_ buy a dozen of ne CD from them, but I don't see why not. ANI DIFRANCO: Saw her last night on Conan O'Brien. Can't say anything about Joni Mitchell, really, but these "alternative" (and I hate that term) magazines dogmatically call anyone who has the good fortune to nab a platinum record a sellout. I'm de-lurking after having been on this list for about (this is an estimate) forever. Why? Because I finally saw mention of my favorite dude, O(+>. Now, the reason I was reluctant to post was that I knew this community is more oriented towards discussions of artists who tend to be more female, and more neo-folkie. But, while I love many artists like that, I hadn't noticed any propensity for the funk. Now that I know there are fellow funkateers, I'm sure it's safe to come out. I don't think any of you know me, unless you subscribe to the Prince mailing list, but I was the dude at the Philly (Temple Ambler) show with the black hat on. I was originally going to de-lurk after that concert, but I've enjoyed being a voyeur here for a while. (Interpret that as you wish) Now, on an unrelated note, am I the only one who wishes there were REAL remixes of Jewel tracks? Believe me, I'm not at all ungrateful for the different lyrics and arrangements she does, but what about bringing in some other producers to make some fun, artistically lacking, overproduced, trite house music? I know I'm not the only one who wants to bop around to a dance version of Foolish Games. Okay, maybe I am, but at least I didn't mention the idea of a Jeep Mix of I'm Sensitive...
