Cutiestpie It's unfortunate that I have to start this missive with these words - this is not a flame. It's also unfortunate that you have donned the mantle of victimhood - it's not my faultI think the way I do, its someone elses fault. It doesn't matter to me that you are female - it also didn't matter that anyone else who talks with such anger and hate is who they are. We just got finished with two threads about anger and hate - one about the Pseudo-Nazi usenet group, and a second about Intellegence. Didn't we learn -anything-? I don't deny that you may have been hurt by men - many women have been hurt by men. But your statements are irresponsible, out of line, and inappropriate. I am angered that you seem to apologize in the above letter, only to continue to vent. You don't mean to hurt anyone? How could you not, by labelling every male here as violent and oppresive (my words/interp - supply your own) even though many of them are not? Labels in music are bad - aren't they bad for people, too? - -Jeffrey, a nice guy who is hurt- PS - Before the flames start on me, let me explain my understanding of feminism and oppresion: I'm a 4th year poli-sci/social science student with a year an a half of feminist psychology and philosphy, a year of refugee politics, and am a proud supporter of many people, regardless of who they are. I love life, I have a big cat, and my computers name is Elmo. - -- - -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- jeffm@genghis.com http://luna.genghis.com/jeff/index.htm - -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ------------------------------ From: Alexander Stamou Date: Tue, 19 Nov 1996 17:59:29 +0100 (MET) Subject: Re: women On Tue, 19 Nov 1996 Cutiestpie@aol.com wrote: > Ever since I wrote what I thought about women I have gotten a lot of hate > mail. I think we should get a nice, big house with large rooms. We'll have a beautifully finished basement with a bar(for the guests, of course!), pool tables, and various other entertainment. We'll have a nice, wooden deck, which has a hot-tub and leads to the Olympic-sized pool we always wanted! The entertainment room will have a 45" staereo TV with VCR, Dolby Pro-Logic Surround Sound stereo receiver, front, rear, and center speakers! Well, I vented last night about the local stores not having YWMFM in stock; lo, this morning while listening to WTTS the word "Jewel" penetrated my consciousness. The morning guy, also the program director, was going on about how WWSYS had been out forEVER, and it was getting played to death, and in his words "finally, FINALLY, it's going into the record book and she's released another single. So here's the latest from the million-selling 'Pieces of You'..." and a few nice remarks about the song, and they played YWMFM. Oh, and he back- announced it a few minutes later, re-identifying the album. Interesting that though he's the program director, he apparently still doesn't play many tunes that aren't official singles. Hmmm. Anyway, this guy is very open to suggestions, so I gots ta thinkin', why don't I make up a Jewel seed tape and give it to him? The next question being, what can I legitimately share with the station? The p.d. is a Jewel fan, so can I treat it as making copies for another fan? Obviously, they won't be able to play the tape on air, but what can I share with him that's within the guidelines? "Open" angelfood tapes, like the JA Ford performance? the Innerchange tapes? Maybe if I can pique his interest, they'll be more open to playing the new album when it comes out next Spring... - -- | Greg Dunn | "Information is not knowledge; | | GregDunn@aol.com | knowledge is not wisdom; | | GregDunn@indy.net | wisdom is not truth." | | http://members.aol.com/gregdunn/ | Frank Zappa | ------------------------------ From: "Duckman" Date: Tue, 19 Nov 1996 09:34:04 EST Subject: Marriage is Bliss, Part II Pat Brown wrote: >On Sun, 17 Nov 1996 14:30:59 -0800 wrdavis@ite.net (Katherine Davis) writes: > Whatever house you want is fine with me! As far as i understand, you can share everything except the JS tapes. When i rec'd innerchange, rare and radio angels, the only limitation was that these tapes are not for sale. Since the JS tapes are the peculiar exception to the rule, we all know we can't share them with non-listers because of the potential chance that they might be bootlegged onto disc. I sincerely believe that all the other tapes should be dubbed for as many non listmembers as possible. It is too unrealistic to imagine that all Jewel fans either have internet access or have found this list. The more tapes that are available, the more we can promote Jewel. Any of the tapes, besides JS, can and should be shared with everyone. If we treat EDA as an island unto itself and allow these tapes to be dubbed exclusively for list members, we are only fooling ourselves. peace, dave *+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* Dave DiCicco peaches@dmapub.dma.org "Innocence Maintained" is a moderated, news only email list providing its subscribers with timely information about Jewel Kilcher.
