I don't post frequently (and until now I don't think I've posted NJC) but a few things have been bugging me a bit as I go through these digests. I'll make it short: A lot of controversy was started with Sean Hook's message regarding Anais Nin and Henry Miller, and a lot of messages were written about that saying some not so pleasant things. I see nothing wrong with disagreeing with what a person says. I don't think it needs to start World World III on a mailing list, though. In my experience, if I have a problem with what someone has said, I go directly to that person and try to work things out. A lot of the messages that were posted were written just as unkindly and in the way that Sean's letter was interpeted (did that makes sense? Lemme try again: People wrote back saying that Sean's message was condescending and then wrote rather condescending messages (dare I say flames?) about it). Perhaps it's all interpretation. Perhaps people will find this message that I am writing offensive. A controversial letter was written. All I'm saying is that people may wish to think about simply discussing it with the person who wrote it instead of launching a series of very sarcastic and hurtful letters so that everyone is insulted.
