Then everyone involved sorta disappeared, never to be heard from again. <:-\ Makes me wonder why they didn't come after me. >:-) Blah blah.. **JC** As some of you know, I work at Anderson Merchandiser's which supplies books and music to Wal-Marts in the U.S. Well, -they- (Anderson and Wal-Mart) do this thing called Country Music Across America tour where second-rate country singers perform outside Wal-Mart. Well -they- have in the past gotten first-rate singers to perform impromptu when they were able to snag them (i.e. LeAnn Rimes, Terri Clark). So on to the JC, Jewel was in some city at some time when there was a concert going on (in Tennessee I believe) and apparently -they- tried to get her to come perform. Fortunately, Jewel had to fly somewhere else to perform. No date or city info 'cause no one paid much attention. Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out. Jewel's mother/manager Lenedra said they'd "do it again", but if this list continues to grow at the same rate (was 475 in June, is 768 now), it may be a real nightmare to organize....as if it was a piece of cake for Akira & I (and the others) the 1st time. ;) I don't think the list will grow at the same rate, it may grow alot faster if her next CD is a hit. (I think many feel the same way) Also, one of the the main reasons this happened the way it did in the first place was that she was recording in Bearsville for nearly two months, and we were given a "window" of dates to choose from, chose two and had the shows. It seems logical (to me, anyway) that for a Jewelstock II to happen it would have to be under similar circumstances. Date & location was dictated by her recording & weekend concert schedule. I think the next possible JewelStock would have to be during the recording of her 3rd CD, whenever and wherever that may be. Realistically? Who knows? All I know is, if they have it, I'll be there. If it's close to me, I'd love to be involved again. I'm also sure Alan will be demanding of Jewel (as usual) and she'll call him Mr Bossy-Bossy again. ;) > Just by listening to the tapes I can get a feel for > how fun it must have been. How many people did show up?? Attendance was 186 the first night (100 cancellations/no-shows the first night), and a full house 330 the second night. List member figures were at about 150 total (many went both nights and each member in attendance was allowed one guest each). 200 of the Friday attendees were "local folk". > I noticed on the third encore for the friday performance > the sound changes and is more of a distant sound than the rest of the > tapes. Does anyone know why this happened? The main tape ran out and the technicians didn't notice. The dude who did the mastering for the JS Tapes (Alan Bershaw, aka Mr Bossy Bossy) used a track off of the video feed(s) and spliced them in. It's OK for a few of us to go over there but it wouldn't be worth running something that probably most of the Americans couldn't afford to go to with most of the list being American. A few of you might be able to but not all. *sigh* Hope if there's a second one it coincides with my passing through trip of America.... I just saw the single most disgusting, outragous, indecent, revolting, sickening, hideous political commercial I have ever had the displeasure of ever witnessing. It was paid for Mike Votee in his bit to get a seat in congress and it showed graphic pictures of dead and aborted fetus. Yes, it actually showed the bloody body parts and dead infants. Apparently this asshole is trying to scare up votes in a desperate attempt to get elected. Now, I'm certainly not pro-choise, abortion is one of the very few issues I waffle on, but no way in hell will I vote for a guy who puts this shit on TV where children may witness it. I can see his twisted reasoning for creating this abominable commercial, but I think that's like trying to fight gang warfare by showing actual footage of drive-by shootings on prime time TV. Well I'm through venting, and I hope I didn't start an abortion debate on the list. Please don't email me trying to convince me either way, I'll just delete it since abortion ranks pretty near the bottom of political issues I give a damn about, somewhere beneath bed matress-tag reform. +Sinjin ps- I got a frisbee on deck for the first person who tells me tomorrow, "If you don't vote, you can't complain." ------------------------------ From: Eric Haglund Date: Tue, 05 Nov 1996 00:40:16 +0500 Subject: Re: NJC - Am I still a newbie (JC thrown in) You weren't alone in the war. As more new folks are getting their Jewelstock Tapes I have been asked privately & on the list this same question a lot lately, so heres the answer again for those who are wondering about this: << On the Jewelstock Tapes, why does the sound change at the end of the 2nd show during "Run Tonto Run"?>> The DAT soundboard master tapes ran out during "RTR" & apparently no-one noticed until right before the last encore. So half of "RTR" & all of "Grey Matter" was completely missing, (along with the "Damn the Harris Brothers" comment). So.....This gets complicated, but what I did was this: Utilizing Skinny Pete's videos, I first had to make a new audio master tape (of the missing 10 minutes) using the audio from the right camera into the right channel & the left camera into the left channel. I had to get both video tapes in perfect synch & this gave me a decent stereo audio of that missing sequence.I processed that recording to get rid of most of the hiss & video noise on it. After getting it as good sounding as possible,I edited it in so that nothing was missing. I realized after doing that final edit, that I had the talk back microphone on in the studio. So you can hear AmyJo & I laughing while watching the videos on the monitors. But the edit was so perfect,(and doubting my ability to do it again,) I left it alone. Hope all is well with everyone-----MrBB(Alan) ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V1 #736 ***************************
