If you could have dinner with five people who would they be? now this could be anyone living or dead it could be a friend, relative, actor, musician or otherwise. also if this dinner were to take place would you want to prepare the dinner if so what would you serve? if not would you want to go to a restaurant if so which one? anyway this is just an idea if you feel this would be worthwhile let me know and if anyone is interested in running the survey you are more than welcome as i don't think i would be the ideal person to run this so... well let me know what you think if there is some good positive feedback then maybe this can happen flash ------------------------------ From: Jay Notte Date: Mon, 4 Nov 1996 18:01:18 -0500 (EST) Subject: Viva la radia!!! I was at my job at enterprise today when they told me I had to take a car to Utica, an hour away. I could still get some of the Syracuse stations, but not too clearly, so I started flipping around. Finally I heard "I hear the clock, it's six a.m...." and I just lost it. I had never heard YWMFM on the radio before and I was incredibly psyched. I rolled down the windows (in 40 degree weather) and cranked it like it was a metal song or something. I was surrounded by farmland so nobody saw or hear (though a few cows looked like they were getting into it). All I know is, from now on, 102.5 KISS FM in Utica is aces in my book. Try telling that to Leane Rhimes! Patsy Cline was really nice and everything but does the world need a 13 year old Patsy??? I heard her interviewed on the radio and she sounded so nice. So hard to dislike the girl especially with that cute southern accent! If only so much country music wasn't so cheezy and didn't draw lyrically on greatly repeated themes and ideas. Folk is much better. But get this, my boyfriend's parents are DJs on a small town country music station and their house is lined with hundreds of country Cds. There's only so much a girl can take! In my opinion, all grunge-inspired music (not all necessarily from Seattle) sounds the same. I know, people can tell the difference between different groups, whether they be diehard fans, or just people who listen to Modern Rock in general, but the same could be said for people who just listen to country music in general. They probably think that all grunge (or ethereal, or indie, or whatever category of music) sounds the same, but that's because they don't exposed themselves to it. it works whichever way you put it with whatever category you can think of. and you'll find that there are tons of studios/producers/engineers/ musicians etc. who are used by lots of artists making records in any category, too. Look at Jewel; she worked at the Bearsville Studio (DMB, Natalie Merchant, Paula Cole, Jerry Garcia, etc), with famous musicians (Flea, Jerry Marotta, TBone Wolk, Mark Shulman) who have worked with many others, and with a producer who has worked with tons of others. howabout alanis morissette, who had glenn ballard by her side on her album. He's a protege of Quincy Jones and has written a lot of smash hits for his artists (and produced a lot of smash albums, ie. albums i want to smash). > I don't know that she'd be able to make any better > inroads there than she has on the pop scene (heck, Shania Twain is the most > successful female country-singer to come along in a really long time, but > she got shut out at the CMA Awards for being an "outsider"). sidenote- Isn't Shania Twain from Canada? funny. I think that Jewel has made tremendous inroads into the pop scene. Look at the success of WWSYS and her album on the billboard charts. Oh, YWMFM is in the top 50 for MTV's heavy rotation, and it's also in the top 20 of MOR's video rotation too. Ah, enough. Hey, by mike's standards, in another month, i'll be a veteran! cool.
