There's clearly a whole lot of people joining the list, and I don't see this trend dropping off all that soon. While the advantage of having newbies requesting help getting tapes and stuff publicly forces them to delurk, which I think helps encourage participation on the list, I suspect it results in some spotty distribution of tapes among the more recent angels, as well as putting demands on the list vets, as well... What I'm proposing is not an alternative, but rather a supplemental support network among the newbies... we who have been on the list a while can help, but I think we should also be helping the newbies to come together, as well. Part of what makes this list so strong, is, I think, the spirit of cooperation that has been built. To keep this going, I think we should make it possible for newbies to participate and help as well. It always seems rather intimidating to new people, when they see all these vets chattering back and forth about this tree and that, and such... While those involved in treeing and stuff can certainly attest to the tremendous work involved, it's still work that's done by EveryDay Angels, which means newbies can help too, right? Oh, and this isn't limited to tapes... It's just that tapes always seem to be in every delurk message I've ever read. :) This would be just as true for RFAQs (REALLY Frequently...), and all the other things concerning those who join the list as well... Hmmm. I think I've had this idea before, but it's started to coalesce in my mind a little better... Opinions? Ideas on how this could be implemented? Flames telling me I can't fly? ;) Ray Ray Wong PO BOX 6163 negativl@netcom.com, negativl@best.com Hayward, CA 94540-6163 Member #11537, Deborah Gibson International Fan Club Co-Founder and Charter Member, Sutton Foster International Fan Club ------------------------------ From: wrdavis@ite.net (Katherine Davis) Date: Sun, 03 Nov 1996 18:56:24 -0800 Subject: For The Last Time--Jewel Hey angels, I don't want to get flamed for this, but here goes: I was looking up stuff at sites to order. I have looked at Stanford, UC at Berkeley, and UC at San Diego. I visited all three sites on the 'net. UCSD seems like a really cool school, I like the programs it offers, the surrounding area also sounds great. I think there would be a lot of opportunities for me there. I want to be involved in the entertainment industry doing behind the scenes work, whether it be in the theater, film, or radio. Northwestern in Illinois seems to have a good program also.
