This is only my second post, so I'm still trying to decide what is or isn't Jewel Content. A friend of mine told me this morn that WBCN Christmas Rave tickets were going on sale at 10am today, AND that Jewel was playing! So I checked out BCN's web page and I'm afraid she's NOT in the lineup. I've gotta ask my buddy where she got her info, because maybe, just maybe, Jewel will sign on to the show later. >>>>>scott o. >>>>>mso@orc-ny.com >>>>>p.s.: For those people in other Christmas show cities, you can >>>>>expect at least one or more of these other artists to be at your >>>>>show. Why? Because record labels farm out artists to these events >>>>>en masse as a "gift" to the stations that play their music. Let's hope Jewel does come to Beantown in December, but as Paul mentioned, the Christmas Rave has an excellent lineup anyway. The Rave is a bunch of concerts at 8 different clubs throughout the city - the tough part is choosing one club's lineup over another (I know I can't decide!). I also hear that Modern English w/Eleanor McEvoy is playing Thurs., Nov. 21 at South Station at noon for FREE! Now, did Eleanor McEvoy open up for Jewel at the Hampton Beach, NH show? Does anyone remember the opening act? I remember it being an British Isles gal who played just about every instrument on the stage, and whos husband was in the band. <--- So what this is telling you all is that I am a complete musical idiot!! I need a mentor (anyone see Seinfeld?) to become a grand master musical knowall (kinda like Paul Kim). More JC? ---> So I took my visiting friend out on the town last night, and we stopped off the the HONG KONG in Harvard Square to put away a few Scorpion Bowls. We had a fantastic time, but a warning kids, do not attempt to go Scopion Bowling with 2 people or less!!!! I ended up getting completely blotto drunk and today the sunlight is oh soo PAINFUL!! But the KONG was playing Jewel tunes all night long! And not just WWSYS! Also You Were Meant for Me (the single version) and even I'm Sensitive!! What's more is that YWMFM always gets me right there (it was my FIRST Jewel song!), and gave me the cajones to go approach this beautiful Parliament Cigarette Model (they were doing one of those promos). THANKS JEWEL!! So we talked for about 30 min and got along REAL well, and I think she felt the same. BUT when I asked her if she wanted to join me sometime for coffee or a show, SHE WOULDN'T GIVE ME HER NUMBER!! But she DID ask me for mine, and promised to call!!!! At this point in the evening I wasn't seeing too clearly and couldn't read between her lines, but I'm thinking that she gave me the polite brush off. Heck I always expect the worst, though. We'll see what happens; God, I LOVE the insecurities of life!!! Actually, I know where she works, so maybe I'll "happen to stroll by".... Thanks for reading this drivel, take care angels! What I hope to do with my channel is to make a meeting place for other EDA's and and other Jewel fans. What I propose is that... 1) You are all extremely welcome in the room whenever you please. If there's noone in it (besides W) at the time... just wait around. People always show up! 2) I think that we should plan a weekly meeting of EDA's and other Jewel fans. Some people have been meeting in there on Saturdays. How is Saturday evening's for people? Possibly around 8'ish? If you have a better suggestion or questions or anything, e-mail me back DIRECTLY (Brian994@ix.netcom.com). I'll e-mail the list once we've decided on a good time for people to meet in the channel. Or maybe have a couple days each week or something. :) 3) Have fun in the channel. It's there for people to enjoy and have fun in. If you ever feel that you are being abused in the channel or have any complaints, again, e-mail me directly and I'll try to make everything alllll better. :) ------------------------------ From: Brian Date: Sat, 2 Nov 1996 18:00:43 -0800 Subject: How To Get On The Undernet Here's some fairly simple directions you can use to get on the undernet: 1) Download an IRC program. If you're using Windows, I recommend using mIRC v. 4.5 It works very well and gets the job done. :) If you're on MAC... why? Hehe... I'm not quite sure what software is best for MAC, but I'm guessing IRCII. 2) Fill in all the appropriate information in the setup box. 3) Find a server to connect to. Here are just a few that I use: okc.ok.us.undernet.org PORT 7777 or PORT 6666 lowell.ma.us.undernet.org PORT 7777 or PORT 6663 phoenix.az.us.undernet.org PORT 6666 washington.dc.us.undernet.org PORT 6666 norman-r.ok.us.undernet.org PORT 6666 or PORT 7777 sandiego.ca.us.undernet.org PORT 7777 springfield.mo.us.undernet.org PORT 6666 us.undernet.org PORT 6667 One of these should get you onto the undernet. It may take a few tries.. and you may get a message like "Sorry, no more connections", but people log on and off all the time, so just keep trying. :) 4) After you are logged on, you will get a message of the day announcement. After all this happens, type: /join #Jewel This will bring you into the #Jewel room. 5) That's about it. From there, have fun! Enjoy yourselves... and be kind to others. :) If you have any specific questions, e-mail me directly.
