It's great to see people get along so well, and pretty well stay on topic (unlike some other lists I've been on). I think it's great to be a part of all of this. Anyway...now on to the real purpose of this letter: Where can I get some info about receiving the JS tapes? Unfortunately I wasn't on the list when this all started, so I'm not sure who to talk to. Well, thanks a bunch for everything, Dave ------------------------------ From: amelie@juno.com (Amelie R Cabanas-Brown) Date: Wed, 23 Oct 1996 14:28:59 EDT Subject: Houston Hello all, I went to Houston on vacation in October. The magical Logic-Fairy must step in...I've found that if you go to the drain of your shower or bath while water makes its funnel...you can make it change directions by counter-circling it with your finger or toe. It works...I promise. Well, it seems that the question I posed for this group was " How do you like my double-spacing system? " SURVEY SAYS: | X | X | X | How many more stupid ideas and posts must I generate to get thrown out of this place...I bet I've exceeded that limit by a mile! But I've got a new idea! It's better than double-spacing! From now on I'll write like this! Ok, nevermind, that gets old! Well, my day was pretty good today...but I can tell that I'm forcing it. See, Sunday I had a GREAT day. Probably the best day I've had since about July or late June. It was the first time since that I've been made to laugh. Let me explain, in my home-town, I'm the jokster, at least one of them, and I always am mildly amused at people's jokes, but never to big...well, last July I was out of town, so I could hear some FUNNY jokes. Well, this Sunday...well, I'm not gonna get into what happened, but it was hilarious! Ok ok...moving on...SINCE i had such a good day Sunday...Loki: The Norse God of Good and Evil, has been trying to bring me down since. But I've held him off for two days straight =)...but just you wait...I bet, I'll hold him off until I get my JS tapes...they're going to have been cracked in the mail, and that's how he'll get me! About the surveys...I'm gonna take one too. Are you sick and tired of all the surveys? Do you think that one general census once every SIX months is enough? Do you believe knowledge of this list will become obsolete within 45 seconds of reciept? Have you caught on to the fact that this is a joke? I hope all, or at least most of you, have answered yes to this. Please guys, I'm not singling anyone out, nor do I think you guys have any bad intentions...but please...give us a break to think and communicate here. Personally, I'm gonna talk to someone on the list if I want to, EVEN if they ARE from Milwalkee! =) But don't take this as a flame...it's not. Well, that's all I can think of to say...better keep moving before Loki finds me! ("Phenomenon" by the way was an excellent movie, or maybe its just that I lust for John Travolta...) well i should go and get back to my exciting research paper. i just wanted to say that even though my boyfriend says I am obsessed with jewel, her music absolutely touches me, and i don't think that there is any song she could release that I would not like. i am anxiously awaiting my jewelstock tapes, and wearing out POY and Salvation, the infamous bootleg that i paid $25 for. i also saw jewel in boston 2 weeks ago and I'm still glowing from that experience. she's one amazing woman. anelise ------------------------------ From: Selena Date: Wed, 23 Oct 1996 16:51:44 -0700 Subject: peaches responds W1GGY2@aol.com wrote: > > You see, everyone, I've been telling you all for months now that Selena is > really a bitch and you didn't believe me! I'll definately include all the screen names, but its nice to have a real name, too. Lastly, apologies to those who missed "Teen Trauma" because of my post. I was given a list of upcoming stuff & it said today at 5:00. I even double checked the TV Guide which was also mistaken. Ya didn't miss much & it will certainly be repeated ad nauseum. Don't worry about being a newbie-all of us were at one time! NJC is a concept that someone on the list started to keep people from posting anything on the list that didn't have some sort of news item about Jewel in it. The concept was short lived, and eventually people came to relize that they had the same option with the newsgroup that they had with a TV- if you don't like it, don't look at it. Also contributing to the downfall of the list limiting concept of NJC was the start of the news list, which allows the people that don't want to read human interest pieces from the real list to still get their news tidbits while not bothering us with stupid concepts that limit our expression on the list. Hope this helps. The volume of messages on this list is sometimes daunting, but the reading of all posts lets you see what people are really like, and when you meet them in person, you'll be glad that you know more from the list than whether Jewel smokes, or when her next show will be.
