This made me think: Is there an EDA shirt? If there isn't (for I don't know, I'm pretty new), I think it would be a good idea to look into developing one and we could even give one to Jewel so she knows what to recognize us by!! Hope this isn't a old and crusty and stale idea that I brought back to life! He did a lot of political writing, but his love poems are my favorite--they're like nothing else in this universe. Town: Homer, Alaska, where I'm from. It's beautiful, with a lot of mountains and water and meadows. It's a small town of only five hundred people, but it's quite cosmopolitan and artistic. Holiday: Eater. In Alaska it means that spring is coming, which everyone's very happy about. Pet: My horse, Clearwater. He was my escape as a kid when things got hard. When I got him, he was really sick, and everybody said he wouldn't live. But I just pampered and nurtured him. He's about 12 now, and my dad takes care of him back in Homer. Transportation: Horse. I used to ride mine to work and to school sometimes. I think everybody should ride something that's living instead of something that's emitting exhaust. Author: Kurt Vonnegut Jr. He is the master of the short story. I love reading him because he is really straight and to the point and very inventive. I especially like his "Welcome to the Monkey House." Word: "Ubiquitous." It sounds just great, and it rhymes with ridiculous. Music: If I had to listen to one kind of music all the time, I would go for Baroque classical music. It's so beautiful. I like Vivaldi's Four Seasons and the requiems of Mozart. But I also listen to punk alot. Sport: Surfing. It reminds me of riding, and I don't get to ride much now in San Diego. Jewel song: "Amen." I think that lyrically, as a poem, it's very strong, and I like what it stands for. I wrote it for the death of Kurt Cobain--not so much for him but for his suicide following. He was definitely the hero for the heroless. Band: The Rugburns. They rock. My boyfriend, [Rugburns singer] Steve Poltz, is the best songwriter. Game: My favorite game is called "Would you rather..." You just make up stuff like "Would you rather be a fish or a star?" or "Would you rather be a dinner bell or a train horn?" It tells you a lot about people. Music video: I don't watch MTV--I've actually never had it--so I've never even seen my video on the air. I'd like to. When I'm in hotels, I turn MTV on, but I haven't caught it yet. --Interviewed by Amy Talkington *Kerry's Comments* Read the 'Pet' passage again...doesn't it remind you of 'Adrian'? Hope nobody's who's already read this is mad at me for taking up space... If you haven't read this before and you appreciate it, don't hesitate to e-mail me back!!! 2.) The July 1996 edition of 'Music Revue' has a Jewel picture I've never seen before and a 1 1/2 page article entitled 'Pieces of a rare Jewel' by Sean Kage. It's mainly about her and touring. (I think, I haven't read it in awhile.) If you don't have this magazine, it's probably because you had to live in West Michigan to get it. It was one of those newspaper like magazines that you pick up for free on your way out of a music store. If anyone is interested, I will type it up but it will take awhile. Maybe I could send it to someone with a page and they could display it for everyone instead of sending it to the list. 3.) There was that short article in People magazine with the picture of her in her van which most of you are probably aware of.... 4.) Inside my newspaper called THE MUSKEGON CHRONICLE there's always another little magazine called 'react for teens-the magazine that raises voices'. (This is printed on the same type of paper that 'PARADE' is printed on.) On the July 22-28, 1996 issue Jewel was on the cover with yet ANOTHER picture I've never seen before. Inside is a one page article called 'Multi-facedted' by Joan Tarshis and another picture of her standing up with her hands resting on the top of her guitar, resting on the floor vertically. There was also a contest featured where they gave away 25 cassette singles. They gave away "Race Car Driver" plus two songs by Jewel's labelmate Duncan Sheik. Well, as usual, I did't win. I bet some kid did though, which really ticks me off!!! If anyone's pissed or pleased about this REALLY long message, e-mail me. Take care all!!!
