Didn't talk about her, just showed her in what looked like her finishing up a song with a big grin on her face turning away swinging her guitar wildly. :) Maybe more on CNN than Headline News if you are bored. Anyway, I did see you holding up the sign Dennis, sorry I couldn't say hi. I don't know I didn't really enjoy it. Not because Jewel didn't play a good show but because of the fact that no one around me really wanted to listen. Everyone was talking and making fun of her and paying more attention to trying to catch a MIX t-shirt or frisbee than watching the show. You know, so I HAD to kicked their asses. Hey there everyone....I just wanted to inform you that Jewel is doing a great job of recruiting fans everywhere. She just performed a concert for free down here at the University of Florida (#1 ranked that is) :) last Thursday. From what it sounds like it was basically the same concert as that she performed at Boston yesterday or whenever. I just have to say that she definitely brings a lot of passion and sex appeal with her to the stage.......lots and lots of passion. Anyway, just thought I would share that with everyone. This is just a quick note that if anyone is interested in the jewelbox format package, I saw it at Tower in Mountain View/Los Altos, so your local Tower may also be able to get it. It was just in a little display box at the register, like CD singles sometimes are. I guess this may be a new, experimental package, figuring it's easier for music stores to stock them this way. I'm back on the list now that I have an account at my new (but alas not permanent) job. It's easier (and cheaper) than doing it at home. Secondly, I know comments about Jewel's appearance are never really appreciated on this list but I just have a question. I was looking at the Official Jewel page and found a photo of her as a brunette. Does anyone know if this is the real jewel or was she just playing around with Brunette-ism for a while and went back to blonde? I liked her with dark hair. Gave her a different look. Apart from that I am also a brunette and think it's the best way to be! It means you avoid all those dumb blonde jokes! Do you have those in the states? How else might the world have learned that one-name alternative folk sensation Jewel carries around a Tupperware container filled with soil from the Alaskan homestead founded by her grandfather? Jewel, whose songs bounce between sweetness and anger, played selections from her million-selling debut album "Pieces of You". Backstage, the 22 year-old singer spoke of the "emotional support and stability that open land gives us." as well as of the benefits of touring with enduring rock legend and Farm-Aid co-founder Neil Young. I just had to blow out my whole account and create another. That means my e-mail address is now changed too. Sorry to confuse anyone. My mailing address for the yearbook page is now wrong so don't try to e-mail me from it either. So what's new? Liz gave me a copy of the jewelstock tapes. Wow are they great. I now wish I would've gone. My favorite song is the Face of Love now. Jewel's voice sounds so beautiful in that song. I can't believe the people for the new movie didn't take it :( I finally made it to tape 2 (yes, Liz I managed to get past the song and I heard your voice. My sister started laughing.) So far school has started off great. Its only the beginning of the school year for me and I've already created so many unforgettable memories!! Speaking of school I have to go now. I have to work on the stage crew for our musical. Goodbye. I'll write more later when I find out some more surprising events about Jewel or what not. Thank you to everyone who had anything to do with them. I agree with Mike (I think you said this), that these are the best concert recordings (aside from classical) that I have ever heard. The other cool thing that happened this weekend was that I was listening to the local adult alternative station, WRLT 100.1, and they were playing YWMFM. I called to thank them, and asked them to put the song into rotation, and they said yes, they will try. If you want to contact them, they're at (615) 737-0100.
