The last two Jewel concerts I went to the airlines lost my luggage. This time I drove, and they lost Jewel's luggage! Things that make ya go hmmmm... The reason she didn't get 4 angels (the highest honor) is because it was all just Jewel and her guitar. I missed the band, especially for satellite :( Also, the crowd was a bit unruly. They were downright cruel to the opening act, and too loud during Jewel. This was the largest audience I've ever seen for Jewel, several thousand (I won't guess how many, because I suck at that, but the place was completely full). Of course I got the choice seat right infront of "Obnoxious Boy" and behind "Drunk Guy" and the girl with the shriek that could shatter stone sat dead behind me. My ears will never be the same, and she single handedly ruined my recording. Here's the setlist: Pieces of You Little Sister Satellite Sometimes It Be That Way Morning Song Cold Song You Were Meant For Me Race Car Driver ???? (starts out: "Pop works in the shop till 8") Near You Always Angel Standing By Deep Water Who Will Save Your Soul Chime Bells ENCORE: The Little Bird (first time Jewel sang this one in concert) Amen If anyone knows the name of the song I missed, please email me. She only did one encore, and didn't stay to sign autographs after the concert due to the large amount of people waiting to see her. There was a sign language interpreter off stage left, it was prettty cool to see her sign Jewel's lyrics! I talked with several people before the concert and the only exposure they ever had of Jewel were the songs on PoY and a little bit of her yodeling from the Rosie O'Donnell show. I told them about Jewelstock, her next CD, what to expect at a concert, Jewel's history, call your radio station and demand YWMFM, etc. I met two EDA's up there, Volt and a guy from Guam (sorry I can't remember your name! I'm bad at that and I'm still tired from my drive home last night!) Speaking of the drive, it took me 3 hours to get up there, 3.5 to get back, ended up getting home at 2:30 and just crashed (on the bed, not in the car). I don't see how Garrett and Tom drove cross country!! The drive up was hell, triple digits and I had to crank on my car's heater to keep the engine from overheating. Can you say "Sin-kabob"? But on the way back (11-2:30) I still had the top down on my car so I was happy :) (jealous yet, East Coasters?) - -- Sinjin@ecn.com "Fair Food Rules!!" THIS IS A REQUEST FOR BRANCH VOLUNTEERS ONLY. INFO ON LEAF SIGN UP WILL BE FORTHCOMING. :) Last nite, Alan Bershaw indicated that a tape tree was being planned for the 3/28/96 show. He is correct. A couple of other EDA's and myself are planning a tree with the 3/28/96 show on one side of the tape, and the 8/18/96 show on the other side. We have decided to circulate the 3/28/96 Tower Records Show because it is the show on the "Salvation" bootleg cd which has been the topic of recent debate. At this point in time, we are planning a tree with 8 branches and each branch will have 8 leafs. The actual size of the tree will vary depending upon the amount of interest in the tree, Already, we have 3 people who have kindly volunteered to be branches. Thank you Carolyn, Allison, and James. :) Currently,we need FIVE more volunteers to be branches. Hopefully, we can get a volunteer to be a Canadian branch. If you wish to volunteer to be a BRANCH (not a leaf), please contact me by cutting and pasting the following info: ***********************BRANCH RECRUIT INFO******************************** Full Name: email address: mailing address: brief description of your dubbing equipment: ***********************************END************************************ Please remember that this post is only to recruit branches. Info on leaf sign-up will be made available once all the branches have been established, and the j-card is completed. A special thanks goes out to Truthseecr for designing the j-card :) :) :) If you have any questions, comments, or feedback please don't hesitate to contact me. Please remember that everyone involved is VOLUNTEERING their time and stereo equipment, so please be patient and kind!!! thanks for listening! and thanks in advance to those who volunteer to be branches! peace, dave *+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* Dave DiCicco peaches@dmapub.dma.org "Innocence Maintained" is a moderated, news only email list providing its subscribers with timely information about Jewel Kilcher. Oh well, here are the results: Go to the concert: 6 Get parents' bribe: 6 Get parents' bribe AND go to the concert: 1 My decision is this. I'll stay here in Tampa, not accept the 50 bux, but accept the Jewel collection. You know what sucks? She played in NJ (Tradewinds) in late May, just a day before I went to NJ for vacation. Then, while during the my two month stay in NJ, Jewel puts on JewelStock, and I wasn't on the list to know about it. :( That sucks. At least two of you who replied said that if I went to the concert, I'd fall hopelessly in love with Jewel cause she's so...so...well, so charismatic. Hmmm...I remember when I was infatuated with Debbie Gibson and Tiffany in the 80's when I was young, like 11-13 years old? I went to their concerts, and they seemed so aloof to the crowd, I lost my interest in them. But from what I hear, this won't be the case with Jewel. Darn. So tell me, how do I stop being infatuated with Jewel? Proof..... >> The DAT soundboard master tapes ran out during "RTR" & apparently no-one noticed until right before the last encore. So half of "RTR" & all of "Grey Matter" was completely missing, along with the "Damn the Harris Brothers" comment. The Mobile Unit did not videotape the second night. So.....This gets complicated, but what I did was this: Utilizing Skinny Pete's videos, I first had to make a new audio master tape (of the missing 10 minutes) using the mono audio from the right camera into the right channel & the mono audio from the left camera into the left channel. I had to get both video tapes in perfect synch & this gave me a decent stereo audio of that missing sequence.I processed that recording to get rid of most of the hiss & video noise on it. After getting it as good sounding as possible,I edited it in so that nothing was missing. I realized after doing that final edit, that I had the talk back microphone on in the studio. So you can hear AmyJo & I laughing while watching the videos on the monitors. But the edit was so perfect,(and doubting my ability to do it again,) I left it alone.<< ------------------------------ From: Sinjin@ecn.com Date: Wed, 09 Oct 1996 20:16:41 -0700 Subject: Re: BINGO!!!!!
