Other than any and all info. on Jewelstock tapes (no big deal, I'll get a copy some other time, I'm easy), did anything else important happen on here lately? For some reason, my mail was playing naughty with the system, and they booted me out. Good to be back on, though I don't know what it means to have been booted off. Am I still a member from the first time I sent mail, or am I a brand new Great Cornholio? I suppose it don't matter none, but I'm just wondering. Good to be back. BTW, if anybody cares to know, I just bought Type O Negative's October Rust album. Great stuff. You don't get better gothic metal than that. Also, I found a good color printer and a copy of Netscape 3.0, and I've been making home-made Jewel posters and wallpapering the door to my room. I try to keep my posts to a minimum as, although I have been told I'm more intelligent than the average eggplant, I generally come off sounding like a lesser vegetable. However, Temple was fun. Aside from frightening Selena's children, I don't think I really had a scary effect on anyone. I got a few people's names right this time around and managed to be interviewed by some gorgeous Temple woman, although the interview will be probably be shown around the same time Ross Perot gets elected President. The show itself was lovely. I am always amazed at how I am turned to a puddle of mush by watching Jewel perform. All my cynicism seems to leave me and I am briefly a better person. I felt bad for her though, as she seemed eager to depart towards the latter half of her set. Crunch and I batted about some thoeries concerning this, and he insists she looked that way NOT because of a bad burrito. (Looked like gas to me......) I used to be a huge Grateful Dead fan and the after-show gathering at the van brought back some very pleasant memories. I am looking forward to doing it again soon. Anyway, a few days ago someone posted about Sheryl Crow's new album and it's delights. It's definately a "grow-on-you" kind of thing I think. I was surprised to notice however in this previous post (unless I have been huffing too much gasoline again) that the song "Home" was not praised. I find it an eerie, compelling tune that is haunting me in my dreams. It is also very sweet and I think it would appeal to many Jewel fans. Ok, there you are..... So what does everybod > think?? COOL! Yeah! I like. :) I think we should have an east coast and a west coast party. =) And then find someway to communicate between them too just for fun. :) Because I'm sure not everyone from either coast would be willing to drive to the other side of the country, but hey.. two would make 'em still big and easier to get to. :) Hey.. even a regional thing would work.. but probly get less of a turnout for each one. Count me in for the east coast party this year! =) Gerrit ------------------------------ From: Luis Araujo Date: Wed, 02 Oct 1996 22:05:22 -0400 Subject: xxx possible mail solution - please read Ok, being at most a moderately active lurker, I should not have much say in the matter. However, I thought of a solution that might work for a lot of people and the best part is that there would be absolutely no side affects. I was thinking that people could put xxx and a space in the beginning of the subject when emailing. i.e. To: owner-jewel@smoe.org From: whoever Subject: xxx my horrible life What this would do is allow you then to go to your email filter and do what you want with it. For example, I set my eudora mail to direct any mail with xxx in the subject straight into the trash. I tried it a few different ways and each time the letters went straight into my trash. I don't know how other programs work such as pegasus mail but filter are common in almost all email programs. I'd like to make clear that I do not intend on using this if it takes. I enjoy what we have created here immensely. I think the people here on the list are wonderful and if they take the time to say something, I will take the time to listen. Again, if we stuck to some type of format like this, a majority of users who don't want non jewel related letters, would be happy campers. Just a thought... I noticed a lot of bitterness in the argument and just wanted to try to suggest a compromise. If I offended anyone please don't write me any hate mail. It will kindly be placed in the trash and will not be given its due notice. Westwood one has a syndicated live radio show ("In Concert") and they recorded (with permission) Jewel's show in Boston from this past may. The cd you see in the ad is the cd that Westwood one gave to its affiliates. The cd also has the commercials included. As for the quality, it was professionally recorded so it should be very good. $75 is a lot for one cd. If you are interested, go pick up Goldmine magazine and look for a better deal. as for legality, I would equate this with STL. Both were made legally but were not meant for sale to the public.
