I've seen your record collection and I remember you had: 2 Shaun Cassidy albums The Partridge Family Live Leif Garrett and Friends M.C. Hammer Donna Summer's Greatest Hits And these, you told me, were some of your favorites. You even said they come BEFORE Jewel! Really, folks, this is a true story. I swear. I really mean it. :-) Amy ------------------------------ From: W1GGY2@aol.com Date: Thu, 26 Sep 1996 23:07:30 -0400 Subject: Re: NJC VS. JEWEL CONTENT >>This list *IS* about Jewel -- but it is also as much about Jewel as it is a community of people, from seperate and differant parts of the country, the world, as well as from different demographics, all sharing part of their life and lifestyles with each other. If you want Jewel pertenant info, do the news list thing -- isn't that the point of the news list - the recognition of the list becoming something more than just about jewel, and about all EDA members?<< Hear hear! (or is it Here here?) Well, I told Igor I was going to ignore this thread (will the issue EVER die?) but I lied. To be honest, if all we ever talked about was Jewel, I probably would have unsubbed long ago. I mean how many times can we discuss her height, length of hair, name of cat, color of nail polish. I have met some of the most interesting, thought provoking, laugh-out-loud funny and most caring people I have ever known right here on this list (and also the Harris Brothers). THAT's why I'm here. There are lots of EDA's lurking in Ithaca...some of us are over here at Cornell wishing we had the balls to load up and head out to Poughkeepsie! Perhaps we should have an Ithaca EDA party.... Chad (The North Texan who went too far North!) P.S. I know you guys are getting tired of this, but I have to say it....a little NJC to Jennifer. SELENA...and anyone else who may be able to help me- I don't know if you remember me, but I met you in May (?) at the Jewel-Duncan Sheik show at the Theatre of Living Arts??? I've been really busy with school lately, and have been a "silent lurker". I really would like to go to the show this weekend, but I'm not really sure if everything is going to work out. I have a few questions for you: -Do you know if tix are still for sale?? -Are the seats general admission, or assigned seating? -What time does it start? -Where exactly is it? -Who else is playing? -Will I be able to purchase tix there before the show? If you could help me out and answer my questions, I'd really appreciate it....Is there is any other information I need to know about Saturday if I decide to go? Please email me privately....it will be read sooner that way. Thank you so much!!!! -Emily ------------------------------ From: Truthseecr@aol.com Date: Fri, 27 Sep 1996 00:26:54 -0400 Subject: Re: Bootleg CD On 9/26/96 Emperor Smurf wrote: >>>Hello! a very reliable and well-informed source told me that a bootleg CD has been spotted out in the market. Sunshine Superman i do not currently own the disc, so i can't vouch for its quality. i just wanted to let people know this disc is commercially available. i am not advocating the purchase of bootlegs, nor am i condeming them. i am merely letting this information be made available to others. peace, dave<<< I've heard of this bootleg too. It's going for $25 in a San Diego CD shop. You can get it for much less from EDAs. It's supposedly got some b&w photos of Jewel for the cover from what I hear. :-) Carolyn ------------------------------ From: Stephen Ivy Date: Thu, 26 Sep 1996 23:41:28 -0500 Subject: Re: NJC: Hockey I agree sports are probably stupid. I agree they don't make sense. But I still love them. I'm a San Diego Padres fan and have never been to San Diego (I have seen them at other stadiums). I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan and have never seen the play. Why do I like these sports and teams? Must be in my genes. Except that doesn't make sense because no one in my family likes sports. I actually know why I like sports and its simple to those who see it and complex to those who can't. Let me explain. Have you ever looked at modern art? Why is this stuff art? To me its just crap. But to some people its worth a lot of money. Sports is like that to me. I see the art in it. Baseball is just a painting or a song that lasts 9 months. Football is aproximately the same. Its just of matter of what you see. And often what you want to see. I see my life mirrored in sporting events. Trials, defeats, highs and lows. I hope this helps some of you non-sports fans see why some of us like sports. At the same time I understand that to you sports is what modern art is to me. >Yes. Sports are stupid. I have always had trouble understanding why >someone gets excited, no- goes bezerk over something they have no effect on >and for people who don't give a rat's ass about them. Example- i know a >raiders fan. He hasn't lived outside Alabama, never been to LA or Oakland, >(is that the old city?).
