"NJC" refers to "No Jewel Content" in someone's post to the list. lately there have been way too many NJC postings. i am glad to see the demise of tv trivia. i believe there are plenty of tv groups on usenet. all over the web, there are plent of trivia games to play. i realise that it is hard to limit every post to a completely Jewel related issue. i believe that a certain amount of off-topic posts are pretty useful. but i think that the NJC posts should still be limited in their frequency and their topics. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT MANY PEOPLE DO PAY FOR THEIR EMAIL ACCESS!!! i have learned about some other cool artists from this list. i am eternally grateful to this list for getting information about dar williams :) but the focus of this list should be jewel and on a secondary level, similar musical artists. in the post that i am replying to, elvis referred to this list as a democracy. I DISAGREE WITH EVERY FIBER OF MY BEING!!! i truly feel that this list is a MONARCHY. the list is ruled by the list owner Jeff Wasilko. Jeff spends his money and time to provide this lsit to us. no one has a "right" to be on this list. being an EDA is a privilege. once again, i want to publicly thank Jeff for all his time and effort. i need to explain why this list is not a democracy. if 400 list members want to discuss "whether Fun Dip is cooler than Pez" and 4 list members want to talk about when the next single will come out off PoY...who should prevail??? well if this were a democracy...the 400 would...but guess again...we have a purpose here ...Jewel....so the 4 people would win. i agree that none of us can talk about Jewel 24-7. but i am on some other lists where i might only get 1 post a week...but it is highly relevant. the lisa germano list is a prime example. there is such a thing as a comfortable silence :) please remember that quality NOT quantity should be the measure of this list i am not saying that we should never have any NJC posts. but what i am saying is if you want to discuss tv trivia, astology, transformers, or the contents of your desk drawers please goto a chat room or take those threads to private mail. i don't mean to be a jerk or a snob!!! but please be CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS! peace, dave *+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* Dave DiCicco peaches@dmapub.dma.org "Innocence Maintained" is a moderated, news only email list providing its subscribers with timely information about Jewel Kilcher. This show is part of a weekend of music including, The Gin Blossoms, Spin Doctors, Jann Arden, Amanda Marshall, The Newsboys, Stevie Nicks, and our angel Jewel. There is also going to be a second stage of 15 local Boston bands. More performers are going to be added soon. Also if it is the same as in the past, there will be a large craft fair and food from many different countries. And yet more reason to go to this show is that in the past backstage has been an open area surround be guard rails, meaning it should be a perfect oppurtunity to see and talk to the performers. And as if that is not enough Oct. 13th will be a fabulous time to see the leaves change in New England. Rachel :) ------------------------------ From: Crash Boy Date: Thu, 26 Sep 1996 02:04:02 +0000 Subject: New album predictions hi guys! the following are my predictions to happen after the new album comes out. after the album is released on january 21st (the day after my b-day :), it will quickly go to number one following the success of the "You Were Meant For Me" and "Foolish Games" singles, which were heavily played by radio and MTV after being furiously played and pushed by VH-1. with the release of the new album, "Goldfish Don't Bounce," radio and MTV will continuously play the first single off the album, "(Don't Trust Your Pink Fleshy Heart To A) Carnivore," this time having learned their lesson from VH-1. other number one singles from the album will be "Love Me Just Leave Me Alone" and "Satellite," which will be slightly confused with "Satellite" by the dave matthews band, but the confusion will spur a tour between both acts where Patty Griffin will open, followed by Eleanor McEvoy, followed by DMB, and the shows will be closed by Jewel. every show will be a sell out (although EDAs will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for shows before they go on sale to the public), taking place in larger venues, but with better sound systems so that everyone will hear Jewel perfectly, wherever they may stand. by this time, Jewel's voice will have strengthened to the point where she can do a two hour show with very little strain on her voice. of course, the shows as a whole will start at 6:30pm to accomodate the longer shows and acts, and would end near midnight, unless Jewel wanted to do two or three encores, where the shows would end close to 1am. Jewel will have lots of new stories to tell at each show, and will probably rotate them so that no one hears the same story at consecutive concerts. "This next song is on the new album. I played it at a private concert I gave once, but in the middle of the song, I forgot the lyrics. But this kind angel named Tom reminded me what they were and I finished playing the song. Here is is." and of course, there will be new merchandise at each show, including new t-shirts, bumper stickers, glow-in-the-dark dashboard angels, keychains, socks, and Jewel brand cubic zirconium rings. Jewel will adopt a Tori Amos-style for her cd singles, where she will include about 3 to 5 unreleased songs in addition to the single. of course, the most sought-after cd will be the Australian import of "Goldfish Don't Bounce" that will come shrinked wrapped with a VHS video of the four videos from "Pieces of You" - WWSYS, YWMFM (1st), YWMFM (2nd), and "Foolish Games". it will only be in PAL format, so those in the US who wish to view it must get it converted first. once those imports sell out, the Australian import will become a 2-cd set, with the second cd being a collection of unreleased songs called "More Goldfish". of course, as expected, GDB will go triple-platinum and Jewel will tour constantly in support of the album, even travelling to Asia this time around. after the tour, while Jewel is recording her third album, she will give another free concert for EDAs, at which time she will have recognized most of us, since we will each have been to a minimum of five shows on the tour. and being EDAs, we will be entitled to backstage passes as long as we show our copies of the Jewelstock tapes and wear our Jewelstock tshirts. when this announcement is made, Phil will sell out of his remaining 30 t-shirts and be heavily bribed to make more shirts. hopefully, this special deal won't cause EDAs to be mugged for their shirts at the shows. then there's the far future, where Jewel will put out a 10-cd collection called "Precious Gems". it will contain still more unreleased songs, the two full Jewelstock I shows, and the two full Jewelstock II shows. each set will be personally signed and numbered, and limited to 10,000 sets. of course, EDAs will be able to order copies of the set first, before it is even on sale to the public. as a side note, in the "thank you" section of "Goldfish Don't Bounce," Jewel will write: "Most of all, I'd like to thank the Everyday Angels who've supported me from the very beginning. Especially that poor boy who crashed his car once for me. But, now he's driving a BMW, so he better thank me on his first album." hey, i see it happening. hiranya, back me up on this! ;) eric :) ------------------------------ From: James McGarry Date: Wed, 25 Sep 1996 22:06:17 -0400 (EDT) Subject: NJC: was Re: ?????????????????
