I do find it odd that the people who bring up issues like a person being gay or not generally say (after a couple flames) that they really don't care one way or the other. Then why'd ya bring it up? :) >response to Chopped Liver's comment on "You don't have a chance anyway.", >I've got good news for all EDAs who do have a sexual attraction to Jewel. >Technically, you DO have a chance. Never happened. She made it up. That's what she does. Make stuff up to express deep emotions. Sure, maybe she has cheated on a boyfriend... who hasn't cheated? But to actually suggest that you "have a chance" with a girl you haven't met other than to stumble over a few words in order to ask her to sign something is more arrogant than some of the "cocky" actors/musicians that we "regular" people tend to bad mouth. Yeah... technically you're right, but you have a better chance of being struck by lightning as you check the numbers on your winning lottery ticket while a giant anvil falls from the sky crashing thru your house and landing on top of your pointy head. :) Dean "I don't have a chance" Harris ------------------------------ From: ROBERT HAUGHT Date: Mon, 23 Sep 96 22:27:50 PDT Subject: Re: Jewel in Gainesville Yes Ashley - It's true and free!!!!!!!!!! Does doing Farm-aid make her a > rancher? The song on the Out magazine called Women's Song, does make one wonder. The lyrics are something to the effect of "No love is stronger than a love between two women." However Jewel is not a lesbian. She usually would point that out when she performed this song at the Innerchange coffee house. SHe wrote the song because when she was in high school, she got sick and a female friend of hers brought her flowers--when she was feeling particularly down and lonely (being away from home in Michigan). Inga Vainshtain, Jewel's manager (or co-manager, as Lenedra is also her manager, but I think they manage different aspects of her career), often tried to get Jewel to play the song--especially when she opened for acts with strong lesbian followings (such as The Story), because gay fans tend to be extremely loyal and devoted. These are her words, not mine. Personally I find it a rather distasteful generalization and a rather crass marketing technique, but it does explain why Atlantic continues to market straight artists like Tori and Jewel in magazines such as Out, and by hosting fan parties for them at gay clubs. Actually Alan (and everyone) the lyrics were something she said long before she actually wrote (or at least publicly performed) Buttercup. She later incorporated the phrase into the lyrics, and then as a possible album title. Just checked the archives...she wrote that quote on a poster for an angel, as he described it on Feb 14, 1996. (No 96) I don't think she had written Buttercup at that point. Just trying to clarify and prevent the unknowing spreading of misinformation. I remember I was like 10 when I first went to see it. Transformers DIED in that thing. The soundtrack was incredible too. A lot of Japanese animation blows this away in terms of violence, but contentwise it was a masterpiece. Ringo Starr was a guest voice, for crying out loud. Jay Summer of '86 is when it came out! Ahhhhhhh..... I remember it well....going to the movie theater 3 weeks after it first came out! It was...IS....and ALWAYS will be....the BEST!!!!:) I cried when Optimus died! I stared in awe as Spike had grown up, and, furthermore, that he had a SON, named Daniel! I laughed at the comical interaction between Kup and Hot Rod! That movie was the BEST thing that EVER happened to Transformers! A few summers ago I went to the Art Institute of Philadelphia for a week in animation. While there, I browsed around at the stores nearby. Sure enough, at one of the cd stores, they had what I had been looking for for YEARS; the sndtrk!! I IMMEDIATELY plunked down my moolah, and now I am the prowd owner of the sndtrk on cd!!! Did you know that the actual tape that you rent was edited from it's theatrical version? In the movie theater, there's a part(seen in the rental) where Spike and Bumblebee detinated the moon base, hoping to destroy Unicron. They are in their spacecraft, and then they realize that they inflicted NO damage! Spike says"It isn't even dented", as he realizes the horrible implications. After that, he says"What're we gonna do now?", as they are being sucked in. Well, that's the part that was edited. In the movie theater, we TRULY saw a grown-up Spike as he said"Awe, SHIT! What're we gonna do now?". Cool, no? Anyone actually see the movie in the theater? Great movie! Maybe we should have an Everyday Angel get-together for all those who LOVE the movie! I taped it from the rental(try actually FINDING a copy you can BUY!), so it's in pretty good shape! I live in PA, so if anyone's interested, maybe we can arrange something(wait'll my parents find out!heeehehehhehheheee...)! Well, that's about it for now.
