Hi my angels, I am sitting here watching VH1's Duets with MLE and JK and I was wondering...In a recent YM there was mention that at Jewel concerts they hand out ring pops...is this true? I have been to three and haven't witnessed this or heard anything about it. Another question....How many 15 year olds or younger have seen Jewel as many times as I have??? I was just thinking that maybe I hold some kind of a record or something! ;-) The closest concert was 2 hours away too. Speaking of Jewel concerts!!!!!!!! PHILLY IS SATURDAY!!!!!!!!!! Hey Selena...are you doing cartwheels around the house yet??? Shelly and I are beginning our trek Friday as soon as I get out of school!!! I am soooo psyched!!! Thsi will be my fourth Jewel experience!!!! Who all is going?? Shelly is really excited too!!! She needs a weekend get-away! All of my friends think I am absolutely insane...and my response is..."yup!!!" OHMIGOD!!!!! I went to my church youth group meeting today and my friend came up to me and was like....."Guess who I saw on Regis & Kathie Lee?" I told her "hmmm....you are asking me?? Must be Jewel." I told her I saw it too....she was like "No....I was there...in the audience" I flipped out....AHHHHHHH...she is sooo lucky. That would have been soooo cool!!!!! But then I thought about all the good fortune I have had with seeing Jewel and that made me feel better!!!! To anyone that cares-----I found another guy and am completely over my ex!!!!! Yeah!!!! I love being a teenager!!!! He is a freshman and I am a sophomore but he is really nice and he is cute too!!! I just talked to him on the phone for 2 hours!!! We are in the "talking stage" as my friends would say. Making the transition from a senior to freshman is weird...but actually the freshman is more mature than the senior! ;-) Well if you wonder why I wrote "Argh" it is because I WANT MY JEWELSTOCK TAPES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So if you are going to Philly and have them already PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring them so I can catch a bit on my headphones or something!!!! I am soooooo envious of those who already have them!!!!!!!!! I have been waiting impatiently since July!!!!!!!!! ARGH ARGH ARGH!!! Plus my computer has crashed 10 times in the past 24 hours because of all the mail I have gotten!!!!!!!!!! Therefore I lost my leaf assignment!!!!!!!!!!!!! My three Maxwell Metal tapes are sitting impatiently next to me too!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man those things are expensive but no price is too high for JS tapes....I mean I am the person that spent $54 for STL! I want my tapes NOW!!!!! My mom thinks that I am being a whiny teenager......I guess I am! ;-) Well I better start my homework that was assigned to me last Wednesday that is due in 9 hours! ;-) Ok...so I am a procrastinator....hey I work best under pressure!!! Have a nice day!!! -Liz "You never get what you want" ~Patti Griffin Liz Clark e-mail: JEWELFAN@juno.com or JEWELFAN22@aol.com Visit me: http://www.endor.org/jewel/yearbook/entries/34.html ------------------------------ From: Chopped Liver Date: Sun, 22 Sep 1996 23:24:35 -0600 (MDT) Subject: Re: NJC: Pet Sounds On Sun, 22 Sep 1996, Trent Smith wrote: > "BRADLEY C. [snip] Yes, Pet Sound does deserve to be in the greatest ever catagory. And it did serve as inspiration for Sargent Pepper, which in turn inspired many "concept" albums (although it really isn't one itself). But Rubber Soul is credited by the Beach boys as the inpiration for Pet Sounds. A real symbiosis seemed to be going on there. Plus, the Mamas and Papas admit that they listened to the Beatles for hours and wanted to write song just like them. And they did write some of the most beautiful songs in rock and roll. Of course, if you ask any of the rock groups that started in the '60s, Little Richard is almost invariably acknowledged to have a major influence on them. But I don't own one Little Richard release. Hmm, maybe I should. Yep, I went to the Puyallup Fair up here in good old Washington and saw a great show today. There were some cool bands and one crappy band (I won't name anyone)... AND THERE WAS JEWEL! It was SO cool. She was there, like 8 rows in front of me! Wow. It was amazing, even if she did have a cold and was fresh back from Australia (from which she was evidently stuck in the "lost day" in between). Nifty stuff. I realize this has nothing on all you oh-so-lucky JewelStockers but it was incredible for me. She was great and played stuff acoustic and then with a quite nifty band and then acoustic again and then an encore of WWSYS. It was so cool. It seemed like she didn't really take requests that weren't on "PoY" though, kind of strange. Not far into her set someone yelled "Race car driver!" and she responded with "How do you know that?" and didn't play it. But when I yelled "SATELLITE (really loudly after she ignored my screams for "Rocker Girl," "1000 Miles Away," "Carnivore," etc.)" she turned, called out the band and started with it. Coincidence? I think not. :) Anyway, it was really really cool and I can't wait to see Ms. Kilcher perform again. Merry September, and to all a good night. I send it to the list because someone might be interested. If you aren't interested, please exercise your delete key now. I realized last night that the first and last characters (Om and Ohm, or Om and Hum in some transcriptions) would not be the same; that's faulty memory, based on our phonetics. Sounds to me like I was right about the mantra. You will find, if you look at it, that most of the letters will have a horizontal bar with other vertical or slanted lines coming off of it. The bar goes to the top. There will be no unattached ends sticking up. The little seals you describe are common practice. Regardless of your beliefs or spiritual preferences, if you find yourself liking this ring (whether because it's cool or it was given to you by someone special or whatever) I suggest you find out a bit more about it. Any new-agey shop will have someone who can tell you more, and if my experience holds in your town so will most funky record stores, interesting youthy coffee stops and Internet cafes. Can't hurt to ask, and you might find much of interest there. I know everyone else on the list thinks so too & that the tapes will be amazing. This is something to be proud of. ---SARAHSpyflower You did a wonderful job! I can now tell where the source was DAT, and where it was video. But you matched the levels beautifully throughout, so your switching between sources really is transparent (and it makes setting the cassette levels easy). Even at the end of Friday's show, where all the board feed sources must have ended, your edit into the camera mic in the middle of Run Tonto Run is really well-done. It's too bad that happened, but at least the show is there in its entirety so everyone can relive it. --DAN STARK ------------------------------ From: Karl M Fields Date: Mon, 23 Sep 1996 11:01:03 -0400 (EDT) Subject: The A-Team On Sun, 22 Sep 1996, tom morales wrote: > Chris Pavek wrote: > > > > >I love it when a plan comes together? And, the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body. So, only left handed people are in their right mind. I would have to say that I predominantly left handed, with ambidexterous tendancies. For example: I write left handed. I can use scissors with either hand. I bat righty, but throw lefty. I would shoot a rifle right handed, but a pistol left handed (aiming with my right eye). I golf right handed, but hold a tennis raquet with my left hand. Things a left handed person cannot do: Use a spiral notebook. Use a clipboard. (Think about it. Where do we rest our hand?) Write in pencil without having to wash our hand afterward.
