I saw the Cranberries Monday night at Garden State Atrs Center!!!! Great, huge-ampithearte-like venue! And Delores rocked! At the beginning of the show, it sounds like they were having sound problems. Delores's voice was garbled (DO NOT start a thread about her voice). But they got it filtered out around the fifth song. The set was an hour and 10 minutes long* followed by a three song encore (best part). The show got progressively better following a slow start. It contained alot of older (better) stuff, which probably saved the show, as they never really nailed it on the new stuff. Delores changed outfits five times, skimpier and skimpier. She did a few numbers Tori-style at a piano. =) * -(only an hour? i guess i'm spoiled by the last two shows i saw, Live and JS, both 2 and 1/2+) =) Note: Delores looked extremely thin. Too thin. A friend that I saw the show with used to work at an anorexia clinic. She is a huge Cran fan, but was in tears over D's appearance. (Don't make me draw the picture, I won't.) (Please DO NOT start a List thread about this. It is not ours to gossip about. It is serious.) =( Questions: 1) D was wearing a knee brace. One may often obtain a glimpse of the world further down the path of time. But that is only one possible future to which there are many ways to arrive at. And one may even find themselves set upon a different path than what they have seen; until they may return to the course that destiny has harted for them. (Jewel's last Neil date if I'm recalling correctly.) Got there a bit late and took a quick scout around for fellow EDAs. No obvious blue ribbons. We met up later, just after Jewel, while Sheldon was talking about people meeting up with friends out at the entrance gates. Jewel's Set List: Pieces of You (lighter story + references to Keanu and Bob Dole) (Big Blue and no band) Satellites (with the band) The Cold Song (I wasn't paying too much attention so I don't know if she made reference to where it was written) (no band) Sometimes It Be That Way (band) Race Car Driver Fading (replete with K-Mart reference) Love Me, Just Leave Me Alone Near You Always Carnivore Who Will Save Your Soul Chime Bells (so soon?!) 11 songs. I think pretty much everyone was impressed with the way Jewel managed to win over the audience. Still it was the furthest I've ever been away at a Jewel concert and the only time I've seen Jewel with a really large crowd and outdoors. She was great. I was standing just in front of three rather rough and tough looking gentlemen who did not seem overly impressed at first. I think they were there to see the Gin Blossoms. By the end of Jewel's set though, they were laughing at the funny stuff and seemed to be really getting in to things. It was an amazing site to watch close up. I really, _really_ like the band version of SIBTW, it rawked and I didn't think I would like it that much; its something I was really glad I was wrong about. Did Jewel do Love Me, Just Leave Me Alone at the Opera House gig earlier in the year? I remember Carnivore, but I don't remember that. I like LM,JLMA best out of her really new stuff. It was nice to meet up with the EDA group afterwards; to meet Dan S. finally, and see Steve I and Christine and Sheldon and I think I'm losing track... :-) Take Care! Just in case you suddenly feel you may have found yourself in the midst of angels, have no fear. We are not a religious cult. On this list, the angels are a state of mind. Just one warning. This list may change you. It has transformed me from a barbaric neandrathal to a caring person. This has not been a complete transformation however, because some of my cruel ways still surface. I am looking forward to hearing what people in your country think of Jewel. We are also counting on you to spread her music thru out your land. It would be nice if you also posted telling us about what is happening musically over there. Years ago, while discussing music with some Israeli tourists, they told me that the most popular artist was Peter Gabriel. This was even before he was making a big comeback here in the US. So tell us what's big over there. We all know Jewel will be the next big thing, right? It would also be fair to warn you about some of the people on the list. There are the Harris Bros. to watch out for. One day they will have you laughing to the point of pain and another day they will engage you into a deep intellectual survey of yourself. If they confuse you, just read one of the seductive letters posted by the Golden Goddess, Selena. But be careful because this beauty wears the crown of MRS. JEWEL-LIST. You will also have to do some required reading by finding the post from Rachel. Everything you ever wanted to know about the list is in a beautiful essay from her.
