Hi everyone, This is only me second message to the list so please be kind. :) Anyway, I just wanted to write and let you all know that Jewel will be on MTV's coverage of the Democratic convention tomorrow night (according to what John Norris just said a few minutes ago.) Get those VCR's ready... I also have a few questions for all of you and I was hoping I could get your opinions on a few musicians. I'm looking for a new female artist to try out and wondered if anybody had any recommendations. I, of course, love Jewel, along with Tori, Sarah, and the Cranberries. The singers I'm curious about are: Poe, Tracey Bonham, Patti Rothberg, Fiona Apple, and Heather Nova. So, now that you know what I like, do you think I'll like any of the above artists? Is there someone else I should check out? Thanks for any and all recomendations! Woo-hoo!!!! Duncan Sheik rules!!! Wow, I just saw his video on Crossroads (which, other than the Simpsons, is my favorite show) (except when they play this stupid Oasis song, like right now, ‘cause this video for Champagne Supernova is so long, and man I can't stand them, sorry Oasis fans, but geez I hate them) for "Barely Breathing". What a wicked cool guy. Killer video. Great song. Great album. Everyone who doesn't have it should go out and buy it just to support him. Especially since I dig his music . It'll take me a couple more watches to fully understand the video, but, well, I'm glad he's receiving air time. He looks, in a couple of scenes, especially the fleeting, quick, ones, like Chris Isaak (brief segway (sp?) here, you all remember his Wicked Game video, with Helena Christiansen, terrific song, that was, I have to say, but anyways, her and Dennis Rodman in that Victoria's Secret commercial, heh heh, that was something else, but I liked it, Dennis rules, as does Helena, and those marvelous green eyes that just kill me :) ), and his guitar looks neat, so well, bottom line is look for it. It's real good. All the songs on his album have grown on me, it took awhile for a couple of them, but they all did, and I love it. Someone has gotta have some of his shows taped, especially since he toured with what's her name ;) So let me know who does, because, as noted earlier in this post, Duncan Sheik rules!!! ~Sameer PS. They just aired Fiona Apple's "Shadowboxer". She's got an excellent voice, and is very cool too. Check her out. :) Does anyone know if she's touring?? Jewel says that she taught a philosophy class at Einchilon (sp?), ah wouldn't that of been an amazing class to have taken, but wonering how she got to do this. Here at VT other than professors only graduate students get to teach classes/labs. the article starts off with saying that Jewel had been fighting a bladder infection in the first weeks at Bearsville, now my question is being a bio-major and having a sister who when younger got them often but still what is one like? is it like the flu? like appendicitis? is the pain great or small? itching? burning? come on the curiosity is killing. One of my last girlfriends once told me in an intense conversation at a boat show in DC about what it is like for her during her period and ever since then I've had a greater understanding and appreciating for what women go thru and how they are the superior (and deadlier) of the two, after all what are wars fought for but for possesion and control and what do men what most of all consciously and sub-consciously anyways just my observations and questions Selena where are you when I need these answers pieces, Robb Fuzzy's Den w/ over 300 hits: http://www.vt.edu:10021/R/rleigh/robb.html rleigh@vt.edu ------------------------------ From: haze@earthlink.net Date: Tue, 27 Aug 1996 23:58:35 -0400 Subject: Re: Jewel's Philosophy A REALLY good book on this subject is... The star I named after him, so on a clear night, when we were apart, I could always find him. The way he would hold me close, letting me feel as if no others exhisted, The smell of his bed after he left, And the sound of his voice as he utterred my name. Five years of loving him, The rest of my life without him, The dinner we didn't go to, The jaquizzi we won't hold each other in, The graduation I won't celebrate wwith him, Him being the star in someone else's sky, And the sound of his voice, The voice of the only love I have ever known' uttering my name and telling me he'd found someone else.
