I'm used to making adjustments in DSP (digital signal processing) to make concert recordings sound better but this blew me away in comparison. I wouldn't pay $50 - $70 like I've seen it listed but if you get it from a radio station or a promo outlet, pick it up. For those that don't know, it's from the Paradise show that many of you have already. I thought that was great quality until I heard this. I don't have the songlist with me but off the top of my head, it includes: Behind the Wall, Near you Always, Daddy, YWMFM, I'm Sensitive, Carnivore, Love me Just Leave Me Alone, Race Car Driver, WWSYS and more. These are based on reported sales numbers instead of numbers shipped. Soundscan doesn't have a www page, but if someone can find the number (please send it to me if you do!), you can call and ask them about any particular album. Of course, there are lots of problems with Soundscan, too. (I think they only track bigger labels, possibly) There are certainly errors in their counting, and they probably extrapolate actual numbers from sampling stores their 'research' has shown to be statistically representative. Still, it's about as accurate a number you're going to get quickly (every week, I believe). I suppose if you want to be cynical, the most accurate number is going to be the one used for the artist's royalty check. That can take a while to get, however. Considering the size of the Jewel FAQ I might suggest a monthly mailing to all with easy to follow instructions on how to unsubscribe, convert to digest etc. A good addition to this would be mention of how one can get a new copy of the FAQ (which should be dated as to when it was last updated). I find it interesting that with all the recent talk on the subject no one gave instructions on how to get a FAQ update. I have seen nothing new since I subscribed (10 months or so) and have no idea if the FAQ has been updated to give the new Tape Tree info or not. How upset would you old (long term) angels be if you received a useless message every month? Considering the number of confused subscribers it could be bandwidth well spent. What should be included? Do we want to be really angelic and advertise how to get the tapes or should we only supply this information to newbies bold enough to stick their necks out and ask? The more that is included, the more people who ned the information will be likely to delete it without reading; just like they did with the original FAQ. Well at least you didn't call me a "Bleeding Heart Liberal". Now this herd thing, got to stop you there. I belong to quite a few lists. You will find this is not the list of sheep. There is a lot of diversity amongst this group. Sex, and sex preference, age, education, origin, opinions, musical tastes, etc. vary greatly here. Without any written rules, something magical has happened here. As you stay with us you probably will find out about JewelStock and how a wonderful artist decided to give a free concert for a very special group of people. You will also find out that my thinking and concerns are global and not defined by man made borders. All my milage has embedded some horrible pictures of the world and its occupants > > A person just after they blew smoke in my face, laying on the ground > > with a bruised and swollen face with me shoving his cigarettes into his > > mouth and making him eat them. You take this one statement and throw it back at me without commenting on any of the other ones. I guess you wouldn't act this way? Let me change the picture a little bit. The person has a gun pointed at you and he has already done harm to a family member. Would you just stand there like a sheep going to slaughter. When that person blew smoke in my face, it was an assault with a deadly weapon. That weapon has already harmed and killed many friends and family members. I have a history of this kind of behavour. I fought with a gun toting crazed punk on the streets of New York as his friends pounded on my back as I held onto the hand with the gun. Many a pro shoplifter has gotten a beating because they figured a knife would scare me away. I have a article from the NY Daily news front page telling about a Rabbi being assaulted as hundreds of people watched. It sickened me and I ran out of a restuarant and tackled the bastard and then held off the suddenly holy crowd from killing the criminal. > What is this about? Are you a violent angel? Such aggressive behavior and thoughts could not > possibly be healthy. They most likely cause more harm than good. At one time I had a record label and the first signing was Johnny Thunders and Wayne Kramer. Both are well documented in the book, "Please Kill Me - the Uncensored Oral History of Punk" I was very happy, because I was about to make a lot of money. But I started to think about what message I would be helping to spread with songs like "livin on the chinese rock", "too much junkie business" etc. I watched Johnny stick needles in his gangrene scared arms and even loaned him money that I knew was only going to buy more heroin. Instead of helping him or becoming a "violent angel" and forcing him to clean up, I walked away. It wasn't my life. It wasn't my business. My son and I were watching MTV in 1991 when they enounced that he had died from an overdose. I should of done something, instead of walking away. > Things affect people differently.
