It was at the Nissan Pavilion here in Northern Virginia and it was awesome! My memory is not so great, so I cant give you all the songs she did. She shared with us how her little brother said that she looks like she is peeing when ever she sings. She said ever since then she is trying not to be conscience of that, but she can't help it and that she told us so we could see it too. She told us that when she sang "Pieces of You" at a supermodel convention, they took it wrong and thought that she was being prejudiced and after she finished the song, there was total silence, said she was embarrassed. She then sang a song dedicated to a friend whos father had died. She then told us how her father came to Alaska after the war and was from Sweden (I think thats what she said, if I am wrong on that please correct me) Then she sang a song about her dad and something to do with John Wayne. Then, get this, she yodeled! It was great. Everyone was cheering and when she just about finished the yodeling song, I guess she saw how everyone was excited about her yodeling and asked if she should go faster and the audience screamed. She did. She said, "faster?" about 2 more times and then one last time, she did and it was incredible, all the other times, the audience cheered for her, but the last time, there was just total silence as the audience was in total awe. My Jewel experience was slightly tainted because of some rude loud people sitting behind us. But the rest was absolutely wonderful. Take care all. Also I was thinking, I am kind of new to this group and I would love to get to know a little personal info about everyone, so if you would like to email me or share with the group, I'd love to hear it. Once again, take care. Hi EDA, Well its 11:00 and everyone in my family is sleeping. I don't feel like going to bed yet so I am sitting here listening to my Jewel tapes and thought I would talk to my computer. I came back from babysitting and this little girl was telling me her favorite singers suddenly Jewel comes on the TV and the girl was like this is Jewel I like her a lot I think she is a great singer. I thought that was cute---this girl is only six!!!!!!!! I hadn't even told her how much I liked her music. This little girl I figure is pretty cool to be so young and listen to her music!! I'm a little upset recently. I have had a lot of problems recently with my mom. Its like I can only be friends with the people she picks for me. I was supposed to go to this Amusement Park (Cedar Point) with some of my friends and she said no because she doesn't like them. Then I had problems with my boyfriend which you all read about (thanks for responding). Next I find out that my mother thinks I shouldn't be hanging out with Liz 'cause she is a bad influence on my life. Also I found out that her brother is leaving us for God pretty soon and I don't know how to react to it. It took us both by surprise I guess. This week has been one of the worst weeks of my life. I hope the Cranberries concert on Saturday with Liz goes over well. I need to have some fun this week. Well thanks for listening to me ramble I appreciate it. I hope everybody has fun at the Jewel concert this weekend. The opening group was Ben Folds Five, a Chapel Hill, NC trio. They may be good in a small venue, but they were horrible in an amphitheater environment. Then Lady J came on, and began with Tracy Chapman's Behind The Wall, with no instrumental. What followed was: SOLO Pieces of You Little Sister Tease (began song but then started in on living in her car and the suffocation people must feel when stifling their creativity) Deep Water WITH BAND (with guitar unless noted) MARK IS IN THE BAND!!! Satellite Fragile Heart (no guitar) Sometimes It Be That Way Little Sister Fade Away (no guitar) Angel Standing By Love Me Just Leave Me Alone WWSYS Carnivore SOLO Chime Bells Then Neil came on and rocked the house. Both Neil and Crazy Horse, and Jewel were on two large screens throughout their performances. Some great camera work was done by Nissan Pavilion. The farther Jewel got into her set, the more the audience reacted. By the time the band came out, the audience was really beginning to rock. By the end, she got a standing ovation. What a night! I just wish it could have been recorded for posterity.
