Just wanted to voice my thoughts about the music NBC used during their broadcast of the Olympic games...competitions, whatever. I wonder how you get a job being the music selector (I know, it's probably a whole squadron of peoples) for these type of programs, especially the profiles and reflections. If anyone was wondering, one of the main "themes" that NBC was using (and seem to want to use beyond the Olympics as witnessed in its playing in commercials for the sporting events in the future for NBC) was the theme to that wonderfully anachronistic and fun show, The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. which starred the great rubber-faced genre actor, Bruce Campbell. The theme is westerny, not fanfare-y. I was surprised when I first heard them using it, and have yet to see them credit Brisco County or the composer (Randy Edelman, I'm not sure). OH, and Brisco County is being rerun on TNT Saturdays at 11 am. John Williams has now written an Olympic theme or fanfare for at least the past four olympic years. He wrote the fanfare for the 1984 summer games, the theme for the 1988 winter games (i think), the 1992 summer games, and this year's summer games. That guy is too cool. Is it true that a song by The Story was used in a profile of one of the US's women sprinters? That's enough of this BS thread. I also have to comment that Jewel "borrows" lines from other artists rather frequently. Anyone who listens to the Rugburns may notice that Jewel gets alot of material from Steve. Not only in songs, but in the stories she tells. The whole Bob Dole's an asshole controversy that took place a few months ago I believe was borrowed from Steve. They also both love to sing about hotdogs. There's also the SIBTY line from Bob Dylan, and many more examples, but I think I'm just going to stop right there. Regardless, it was sent with the intent to hurt someones feelings. When we join this list, there is no test given in order to be excepted. If so, I probably would have failed. If James had not told us about his accent, we would not have known. If Selena wasn't spotted at JS, she still would have been thought of as beautiful.
