I also said she was doing an in-store promo at Borders Books on the same day. I'd like to report on the events of that day. Although I posted the event, I didn,t buy tickets in advance since I didn,t know the headliner Jane Arden. I totally blew the Borders event, calling the store just as she was finishing. Now I leave for the show giving myself very little time to cover the 20 mile ride down the trechterous Del Dios Highway. Just a mile from home I hit something, but I didn't see what it was. All I knewwas it didn't sound good. Suddenly it didn't smell very good either as the bouquet of skunk filled the air. Not a good sign. As I made my last turn to the Belly Up Tavern, I see a guy holding a big sign that says "I Need A TICKET". Can't be sold out! It was sold out. As I stood near the door asking if anyone had tickets, a beautiful young girl crossed the street. When I asked her if she had an extra ticket, I hit gold in more ways than one. She said "sure I have one extra, take it". I told her I didn't want it for free and held open my hands which contained a $20, $10, 2 $5s', and 2 $1 bills asking her to take what ever she wanted for the ticket. She reached in and took a single $1 and said "thank you". She said Thank You to me? All I did is ask in a nice way and smile. The irony is that I missed Patty. I was told she played 5 songs but was liked by the mostly Jane Arden crowd. Jane made a believer out of me. She was great. If she ever stops getting jobs singing, which I doubt will ever happen, she could easily have success doing stand-up comedy. I really loved the movie, though I have only seen it once, can't really get myself to see it again the rape scene just tore a big hole in me, don't know if I could sit thru that again. I was so happy when Cage got the oscar, or did he just get nominated? I work at Best Buy, which for those who don't know is a big electronics store. Anyway, I sell computers. One of our programs we use for a demo is the SPEW+ cd. Guess who got them to use that...hmmm, I wonder. Well, I've now got my entire staff of computer wiz kids..(they know so much more than me) in love with Jewel. It's so funny hearing these guys singing the guitar line to I'm Sensitive over and over again. Before JS they made fun of me, and now, all they want to know is more about her and her music. Just thought I'd share.
