You have to come to terms with the fact that, living in an industrialized nation, you are one of the lucky ones. We are so successful as a country that we can be so diverse as to have a television show that deals with trendy clothing. To each, his(her) own. I find it very contradictory that someone can complain about materialism via E-Mail. If you don't like modern society, join the goddamned Peace Corps. Someone was thoughful enough to think of Jewel when they were making this episode. > (after all I can hear the chuckles when I was the Tick every Saturday morning). You were the tick? > And not to say I don't enjoy every time I get a chance to see So what is the problem? Jewel is a self-made woman. Would you prefer her to live in a van all her life? Jewel has worked her ass off to get where she is today. She can do what ever she wants to, and no one should have anything to say about it. I think some people get a little too demanding. Your job as a fan is to do no more than listen to her music, and buy her albums if you like them, and even go to a show if she has one nearby (or 1500 miles away, depending on how big a fan you are). No one has any business saying how 'they' think she should live. I find it very disconcerting. These must be the same people who complain about politics, but can't name their local representative in the House. Denouncing materialism through a Jewel e-mail list-server. I >dug back and have found it was Geoff Warder who took >down the postal addresses of the people on the list for that purpose. Does >anyone know what happened to Geoff, his list of our addresses and plans for >the original newsletter? Well, here's what's going on. I was chosen by Lenedra/Hiranya/Jewel to collect and input all of the names and addresses from the sign-up sheets at Jewel's shows, as well as addresses from people on this newsgroup. I started this late last December. My other task is to put together the actual newsletter and get it ready for print. All of the material for the contents of the newsletter, however, is coming directly from Lenedra/Jewel. I've received much of the artwork, but some of the actual writing (from L & J) is still in the process of being written (again). As some of you may recall, Lenedra/Hiranya both suffered some major computer crashes earlier this spring and much of the original material was lost. By that time, work had begun on the new album and their attention was presumably focused on that. I have been in touch with Lenedra and they will get me the rest of the material as soon as possible. So rest assured, the newsletter will be out (sooner than later). We currently have over 2000 names on the mailing list, and we'll be trying to work out a quicker system for producing future newsletters. I do think that there is a certain value in having the contents of the newsletter coming "straight from the horse's mouth" and I hope you'll find that it was worth the wait. So, for all of the newer members on this list (and there do seem to be quite a few), you can send me your name and *Snail-Mail* address and I'll add you to the list. Note: If you signed a sheet at one of Jewel's shows, then odds are that you're already on the list. Also, the first issue is free. There will be info sent along on how to sign up for a subscription. There will also be info on how to order Jewel merchandise. Hope his info helps. Well it wouldn't hurt too much if Tracy beat Jewel, Tracy's been in the field for awhile now with little recomendation (been a fan since her first SNL appearence way back in the early 80's). But if Alanis wins, especially if she wins both, that's it the cable line will be cut that night, I'm getting so sick of eMpTVy, thought that with MTV news (in my opion one the best/only source for current music news, and some really good political and social specials) I could with stand the commericialization of the once good eMpTVy, what with real world VI in their, as I've been told, unbelievable house, and the further labeling and seperation of music, I remember back in the begining of eMpTVy there was no format, only an occasional VJ (what ever happened to the lady who used to VJ, but now does noxiema commercials, she was great!) with something comical to say.
