I picture a book tour to go along with the promotional tour. Kinda like Ray Davies did for X-Ray. We'd all get them signed and personalized. Maybe not limited, but I'm not sure who else would be interested, or more interested, than us. I think that when it is published we obviously have to have a book-release party. Reading the few posts I have seen since then that both agree and disagree with what I said, I ended up coming to a different conclusion that James eloquently put it just recently. I hope Jewel gets what she wants, whether it be fame or not. I wouldn't myself go around marketing her, but some people want to share her with others. That's fine. I think Jewel should be available to everyone. I also think, as Selena so clearly put it to me, that I should be grateful for the fact that I was at JS. And I am. But if she becomes huge I will have to grieve a little, knowing that JewelStock's intimacy will probably be a thing of the past. I can live with that. However, if SHE finds herself in the position of being mobbed constantly and it makes her unhappy, I will be sad for her as well. I don't know what Jewel wants. I couldn't begin to speculate on that. If I or anyone else ever knows I would hope this would be the sort of list where people would do their part to see her achieve her goals. I think we are. So until we know FOR SURE what it is she wants, let's ride the wave and enjoy. She seems to be happy so far. There's an old saying that art is for the people. Most artists decide to do their craft full time with hopes of making a living and perhaps a career out of it. You also mentioned the new album being more upbeat than PoY, and this disappoints you. Jewel is basically a happy person (seems to me). And her music expresses this along with her deep philisophical thoughts. Artists grow continually otherwise their craft becomes a boring monotonous... thing. Jewel is growing at tremendous rates as far as I can see. Even the same song sounds different now than it did 6 months ago. Sometimes expressing a different feeling. I'm looking forward to many changes as Jewel progresses. Both musically, in her poems, her stage presence and in all other ways she may change and grow. I think most people look forward to this changes. Dean ------------------------------ From: Barnabus Heckabus? Date: Thu, 21 Jul 1994 13:56:52 -0700 Subject: Maybe some tab fer me? Hey ppls..... Aand if she ever gets to come her for her world tour , I'd be seeing from the 1,500th row ( like Sean said), and would never get to meet her , take a picture , get an autograph , a hug a kiss, ect. You're gonna label me as selfish , why wouldn't you want Jewel to have more fame and money , and I'll tell you money and fame sometimes drives an artist out of her mind. I think she's doing very well up until now , but if this continues , this Jewel list will be posting about 2,000,000 messages and nobody will get to really learn anything besides concerts dates. If Jewel is happy right now , I say lay off, if she feels she'll be happier and achieve her dream by aquiring more fame , then this letter has no point and I should shut up ( which I will do righht now). until then your friend and automatic cheap archangel: Rafa ------------------------------ From: Chris Lewis Date: Thu, 25 Jul 1996 16:24:10 -0500 Subject: Southland CD's >From: Leave the shadows dancing >Date: Thu, 25 Jul 1996 01:52:59 -0500 (EST) >Subject: How to get SAVE THE LINOLEUM for yourself! =) > > If you REALLY want Save The Linoleum and are willing to pay for it >(like I did!) then here's how you get it: > > Southland CD > http://ni.net/cdstore.com > > Check 'em out! So many people lose it when they become stars instead of artists.. Delores from the Cranberries has that's for sure. I hate seeing Tori Amos in so many magazines now and the way that as fans we are constantly laughed at because she's so publicly bizarre sometimes. Her concert here in 94 was disappointing for so many reasons all related to her being too big. But I have to ask Jeff, what was wrong with the Indigo Girls double live album?? Admittedly it's for committed fans only but what's so wrong with that?? Are you saying that if Jewel put one out like that eventually you wouldn't buy it??
