It covers the industry, what's being played where, what new artists are breaking. Jewel was in the breakthough section rising about one position every two weeks until she topped the chart at the peak of radio airplay and media hype for WWSYS. I have never seen HITS for sale. I only see the magazine at the station I work at and before my inbox gets pelted with requests, I cannot -- repeat, cannot -- sell my station's copy. If you need a phone number or address for the company that puts it out, I can probably get that for you. Just e-mail me with a request for that and I'll see what I can do. I do think it would be possible to buy a copy, because it _does_ have a cover price (six bucks I think). But it's jst a picture, There is no article actuallly inside the issue. The cover is just there to have an artist that is selling well on the cover. Again, this week's issue with Jewel on the cover is just that: a picture on the cover. I can't remember if I related this little true story in my Jewelstock memories post and silly me erased the post. So if this is a repeat... SORRY! Saturday morning, just a few hours after Jewelstock was officially over, my companions and I left for home. We decided to wait until we got a ways down the road to eat. Fate I tell you. Anyway, wherever we were when we decided to eat, we picked a McDonalds. While in line to order our bacon egg & cheese on muffin sandwiches, a little old lady (about 65 maybe) came up to Greg who happened to be wearing the Jewelstock shirt. She commented on how pretty the shirt was and then proceded to tell us that she was an Angelologist (didn't know the field existed... must be big money). Anyway, she went on to tell us that in 1968 on of the US astronauts had an "angel encounter". Occording to Ms. Angelologist the government covered the story by saying the man suffered his "halucination" due to a lack of oxygen. Well, this lady isn't happy with our government. She says that the last two generations have been denied the truth of this event and the proof that angels truely do exist. OK! We sat down to eat. Allison and I talked about Ms. Angelologist and thought maybe she would like Jewel's music. After all, Jewel does sing about Angels several times and Jewel has said she believes in Angels. So I grab a napkin and Allison gets me a pen. I write down Jewel's name (just Jewel since that's what the CD says) and the title of the album. I go over and give it to Ms. Angelologist (sorry, never got a name) and tell her a little about Jewel and her music. The lady seemed interested but wanted to tell me how the government has kept the truth from us (a theme for her I believe). So I kindly made my escape. The lady did put the napkin in her purse, so she may be interested. So, if this angelologist actually purchases the CD and becomes obsessed with Jewel and Jewel's thoughts on angels and tries to track Jewel down to discuss these thoughts, I hereby make a public appology to Jewel and her mother. I really only wanted to increase Jewels popularity to another age group. After all, the oldest person I've seen on this list and at Jewelstock (my only Jewel concert) was still in the Baby-boomer group. This lady is a member of the WW II age group.
