I was very happy with the way people responded to the design, I hope everyone liked them (or at least no one hated them). Unfortunately, I am going to have to charge $15 for the shirts now to help cover shipping and handling, all the time this is going to take, and recover from the large number of shirts I gave away to Jewel, Lenedra, Patty, the Bearsville people, etc. So here is the deal on ordering shirts. Send me an email with the subject "T-Shirt Order" in it give me your name, address, and the number/sizes of shirts that you would like (all sizes will be availible from s-xxxl). I will send you the address to send your check or money order, and confirm your order. I will take order until August 4th. My feeling is that if you weren't at least on the list when JS took place your won't be able to get a shirt. If people are happy with the JS shirts and trust me I will be willing to tackle the mailing lists shirts after I finish up with the JS ones. If you have any questions email me at pjk@cybercom.net with the subject "T-Shirt Question" Thanks you all. pjk ------------------------------ From: NeOblCar@aol.com Date: Sun, 21 Jul 1996 13:44:19 -0400 Subject: Re: New Hampshire, Aug 17 Jason said... >So, who's going to the August 17th show in New Hampshire? Tammy and I are seriously thinking about attending right now. It is about a 5 hour trip for us and the logisitics of being away for a night (we got kids ya know) is hard. I mean we just imposed on our one close relative for JewelStock. Since it is general admission (at least that's what I was told), we'll be there plenty early to get right up close, so maybe we can all meet again. I'm not on any other list (except HORDE, and there never is any mail there) but one of the girls with me, Lynn, is on Finewine (a God Street Wine mailing list). Now, Jewel and GSW don't exactly mesh but there was even someone ther wanting info and, of course, Lynn was very pompous is replying that the info was confidential... Okay, someone finally posted my bail and I made it home. I've got a lot to say (surprised?), but I want to post a serious message first and send the less serious thoughts in another post. I have got to clear the air re: Eric and Jack's misadventures (ie, car accident) when they left PineCrest Friday night. 1) Tom Proven was NOT there when Eric and Jack left for home. It was Bill, me and another list member named Robert (I think -- I'm lousy w/names). 2) Anyway, we "let" the two of them leave under the condition that ONLY JACK DRIVE. From the posts, it sounds like Eric was driving. Next time we party Eric, and you try to leave, I'm gonna steal your car keys, tie your feet together or something, brother. You missed a great show Friday, and scared the hell out of us. (Not bitching, just concerned.) 3) So there, it's off my chest. And if I grab someone's keys at the end of the next Jewel concert, please understand. And you other Angels, don't be shy about doing likewise. I've tucked in more than a few guests with a spare blanket. BTW, Eric and Jack are REALLY GREAT GUYS. When Mike told me Friday someone was hurt leaving JS, my heart sank. I'm very happy you're both doing okay. And like you said Eric, it's just a car! Thanks for letting me distance Tom Proven's name from this mess and get it off my chest. - -- Dennis Harris ------------------------------ From: Ddhaoc@aol.com Date: Sun, 21 Jul 1996 14:18:43 -0400 Subject: Lost and Found FOUND: Two guitar picks on the Bearsville stage, immediately after Jewel's July 19th performance. Hiranya ------------------------------ From: Hiranya@aol.com Date: Sun, 21 Jul 1996 14:36:04 -0400 Subject: A Letter from Lenedra Hi, Jewel and I agree that this was one of the most fun events she has done. From the management end it is, without exception, the easiest and smoothest. It was all so masterfully handeled by all of you. There was no wierdness (well...as long as we define normal to include fuzzy bears and crunchy bars and general obsessive mania) no unpleasant incidents. We were so impressed with how you organized the event, how you take care of each other, and your support and consideration of Jewel. Actually we were very touched. Jewel often says how glad she is she has such above average good fans, and you are all the best of the best. I really enjoyed my contact with you. And your organizers are great. But I think I would be able to say the same about any of you that I spent time with! Jewel was in heaven--she had an audience who knew her well, was'nt rude, knew the songs, listened quietly, laughed at her jokes. Purrfect. She said to tell you that she takes back two things: 1 ). She wanted to make it clear that she is REALLY only teasing about the Dolores thing, cuz she does like her and thot it was obvious she was parodying herself in the jokes cuz after all, who sings more like that than Jewel herself! 2) NO BASEBALL BATS. She got carried away with herself there. If EDAs were to hush anyone with anything she's sure it would be feathers! (Jewel suggested that EDAs bring baseball bats to Neil Young shows to hush people who were'nt listening to her set) One more Jewel note. After the lengthy signing Thurs nite she came inside in a panic because she had left her shirt and poetry and journal on the stage and she knew it would be gone. It wasn't and she couldn't believe it. She kept talking about it. She said she felt so proud to know she was safe with you... And she said to send you big giant hugs and thankyous for being so supportive of her. She wondered if the word fan comes from fanatic or from fantastic? A situation developed just prior to Jewelstock that caused us to get a lttle paranoid about releasing tapes that have her new material with the band. Nothing to do with all of you, but some people are trying to get ahold of it . So it has made us a little paranoid to have it out there. We promised you unedited tapes but we have this problem of an imperfect world... Dan sugggested releasing the video cuz the sound quality (prior to adding the music from DAT) isn't really pirate-able. But we have another project in mind for the video. So I can only think of two choices for you. (I am standing by with my fire-extinguisher for the understandable flames--hope Hiranya doesn't get fried.) We could edit out the band songs (5 or 6 numbers) and get a tape of the rest of it to you immediately and then do a part two with the rest of it to you a day or two prior to release. OR we can wait and get the whole thing to you at record release time (which looks like end of Feb or so). What do you think? SORRY! Cringe. I'm totally in love with Mike, Akira (Richard), DanStark, Bill, Alan n AmyJo, and Steve and his wondercrew, and THE Tshirt Man. I'm forgetting someone, but Im in love with them too. Mike intro-ed Jewel. This was huge because he's a major wimp in front of a crowd. I thought he did it so well, he stood up there with Akira n DanStark for the welcome and announcement and then said, very simply, "And now I'd like to introduce an artist who can tweak my nose anytime..." Or something close to that. And he didn't faint or make a fool of himself. Well done, Mike. Steve and crew did a really terrific job with the video. I've had a chance to preview some of the footage and the qualitly is good. I'm sure they will do as good a job when they put it together for us. Fri nite I watched Steve maintain a very masochistic crouch position up in front for the entire show because it was such a good angle. We'll help with his chiro bill. Dennis(? I met a lot of people, hope I got this right) the Button Man, gave out a lot of neat button out to people. He gave me a set of each style. During Patty's set (nice huh?) I was hangn in the back and the guy next to me commented on them. He turned out to be Jeff the List Man! It was great to meet him. I gave him a couple of buttons. Thanks Jeff without whom none of the would haved happened! Crunch gave me a bag of Crunch bars for Jewel and the band. Jewel seldom eats candy, even less often eats chocolate, but I saw Marc and Jerry and TBone eat the one I gave them and I think TBone ate all the rest! pjk the Tshirt Man THANK YOU for your shirts. I'm only bummed that you bought ours. We wanted you to have them free. So when we issue the new styles you get free ones. Akira, (and all of you) the angel is really lovely. It was very thoughtfully selected--the tie in with the non-profit and all. Its on the piano at the house we are in during recording. The sun is striking it right now in fact and the gold leaf is quite brilliant. Beautiful keepsake. And what a good idea the guest book was! Everyone was so wonderful, it was a very feel-good event. While I can't promise it yearly, we will definitely do it again. She will be performing at the Belly Up Tavern in Solona Beach, CA on August 1st. She is opening for Jann Arden. Also on 8/3 The Rugburns with Jane Wiedlin's Frosted. For ticket info call 619/481-8140. She will also be doing an in-store appearance on the same day at Borders in Carmel Mountain Ranch area of San Diego. If you have never been to the club, you will like it. It's one block from the beach, one block from the Amtrack station or the Coaster and its got a great friendly crowd. Not far from San Diego where Jewel got her start. I wish Jewel would play the club. I was on my way to get the Patty Griffin CD and I heard a new artist being played on the radio. Could this be the new Patty CD I thought. Well you know how it goes. The DJ goes to the next song without saying who just played and I'm left with a mystery. The hook in the song was "high jump" and I couldn't get any other info. So there I was, just like countless other customers that use to come in my record stores. "I don't know who she is, I don't know any of the lyrics, I can't sing or hum any of it to you, but do you have it?" Da! This was also the first time I have been to a Borders store. I purchased the Patty CD and love it. Jewel should be thanked even more, for not just having a filler as an opening act at Jewelstock. Patty is great. This wonderful sales person did her best to help find my mystery artist and spent a lot of time with me. As she got to know what my taste was she suggested that I might like a CD by Counting Crows. She was right on the mark. Really nice. But my mystery artist was no where to be found. After two hours in the store, I found the CD. It is a new CD by Cindy Lee Berryhill, "Straight Outta Marysville". I like it a lot. If any one knows anything about her, please send me private e-mail. The credits say it was recorded at Big Fish, Encinitas,CA and mixed at Signature Sound in San Diego. Maybe another success story from San Diego. ========================================= When I was in high school they came to me "Please would you join up on the boy's track team?" Dear fellow Everyday Angels, First and foremost, I am very glad that Eric Montas and Jack are OK after their car accident after the Thursday show. We got word of it at Friday night's show from Rob Kunkel, who said you guys were alright. I left Dennis Harris in Woodstock Saturday morning with 36 pictures from Jewelstock. He plans on putting up maybe a third of them on the JewelStock Online Site by Sunday night. (They are all from Friday's show) We want many more... So, if you have any good ones of the show(s), downtown Woodstock...Sinjin Live...Jewel on the motorcycle in a dress...the totally phenominal Patty Griffin...Dennis Harris on a motorcycle in a dress...purple teddy bears...me melting down "Pro Harris Brothers" buttons...a shot of the venue seating (with or without people, Dennis WANTS a shot of the theatre seats) etc, EMAIL him and he'll tell you his snail mail address. By the way #1 - Sinjin looks more like Zack and not Screech, my guess was wrong.... Needless to say, being these two shows were my first two Jewel shows, I was BLOWN AWAY totally, I simply could not believe it!!!! Hell, I was blown away by Patty Griffin before Jewel even took the stage. Was Patty incredible or what?? If that lady don't go places, A&M Records will be at fault. The gal can flat out sing. She is so sweet for agreeing to entertain us for us for free.... Jewel mesmerized me, plain and simple. Especially the band songs...namely Carnivore, Satellite and Fade Away. She and the band have been together for a while now and it showed!! THEY CLICKED!!!! They rocked!! They were juiced!! Oh, I was entranced by her solo numbers too...the stories...the poems...the guitar tuning sessions...the tossing o' the pick and stomping on it(Harris got the pick)...everything about the show...I now have a much better feel of what the Jewel experience is all about and feel more bonded with the Everyday Angels....I wasn't sure if I felt like I really belonged until after Thursday's show....I do now.... But my God, is she always this incredible, or was it really that JewelStock was the so far pinnacle of her live shows???? Am I now just fully addicted or were those two shows combined really the "it can't get any better than this" of Jewel concerts? Someone please help me on this one. I mean, what would be the sense of going to a Jewel concert again if it could not be better than what I just witnessed? Duff, somebody, anybody....do you non-attendees have a variant of the "12 Step" program for "JewelStock Withdrawal" symptoms?? Perhaps even a variant of that for one who lost his Jewel Concert Virginity (Don't you dare Harris!!, I am WARNING you) I got JewelStock Witdrawal symptoms really, really bad and need help soon. My 72 gorgeous photos of Friday nights' show don't seem to help, my newly acquired compilation video (THANX BILL!!!) doesn't seem to help, my newly acquired Java Joe's and LA/Ford Theatre boots don't help....maybe I can break into the Bearsville Studio, set up a secret room above Studio B's ceiling panels and just find some vent to peer down 24 hours a day....damn, what about food? What about natures' call? I know, I know....what about when the video comes out, we take it to Sega or Nintendo and get them to develop a "JewelStock Virtual Reality" software package...wear the damn helmet-thing on our skulls 24 hours a day, watching the two shows over and over again...if they say it'll will cost too much and won't sell, I'm sure the 120+ of us listmembers who saw the two shows can pitch in the 2 million bucks it will take to do it...what did I do with that plastic donations jug I had at the show?..Oh, God, someone help me........ please......help me......... OK, I'll snap out of it now... By the way #2 - Bill Goodliff has Jewel's water bottle from Thursday night, he plans on saving it, just in case cloning becomes reality, he'll have his very own Jewel..... Side note to Bill....if not for me, then for yourself.....please seek professional help. I'm worried about you ;-) I am proud to say that I was one of the "two hugs" that Patty Griffin mentioned during her set on Thursday...talked with her a good 10 minutes before the show...she's great... Lenedra sang BEAUTIFULLY during her solo on Thursday night. It was so special...singing the lullaby she used to send Jewel to sleep with...did anyone else notice/feel the way her voice changed/echoed/reveberrated on the last few notes???...I can't put my finger on the word I need to describe it...can anyone help with this...what's the word I need? Another note on Lenedra...what a classy lady. Full of grace and style, she was a pleasure to talk to and work with. The others that dealt with her alot, Alan "Mr Bossy Bossy" Bershaw, Dan Stark, Bill Goodliff among others, know what I mean. I may even miss her more than Jewel, Jewel we can see alot in concerts and on TV... Speaking of "Mr Bossy Bossy", it was Mr. Bershaw that shouted out "Carnivore" on Friday night to which Jewel replied to ending with calling him "Mr Bossy Bossy"... a name tag that shall NOW stick forever to you Alan my friend... My 1st prize for the he/she "Looked EXACTLY like what I expected" award goes to Crunch...someone said to me "Guess who that is" and I knew it was Crunch. (He lives in Hershey territory and is called Crunch??) By the way #3 - The JewelStockers OFFICIALLY closed The Pinecrest Lodge for good, as I drove away from it for the last time at 4pm Saturday (I had left my glasses in the bathroom...somehow, I thought of it 30 miles from Bearsville), they were changing both signs to "The Woodstock Cafe & ____" ....LONG LIVE THE PINECREST LODGE!!!!!!!! Where were the mosh pits? I mean with Sinjin and Jared and some of the others, I was fully expecting mosh pits Thursday afternoon before the show... Note to Rich (formerly Akira) - it was a pleasure working with you for the last five and a half weeks...I'll truly miss it, though I'm sure our phone bills shall not...(BTW, did you delete those 5000 EMAILs yet??...the man NEVER deleted even ONE EMAIL from jewel@smoe or a list member for fear of a system crash or losing even one RSVP...) My 2nd prize for the he/she "Looked exactly like what I expected" award goes to Selena Martin, who I forgive for not going back to her neighborhood store for a second Spam postcard....and Selena, I can't believe we only talked once, for a few seconds at our initial meeting... My vote for the next CD title goes with "Goldfish Don't Bounce"...but just watch, the Goldfish Preservation activist groups will hound Jewel if she chooses that one...
