Just have to correct all you non-film historians: the phrase "klaatu, barada, nikto" comes from one of the best science-fiction films of all time, "The Day the Earth Stood Still." Those alien words are the ones that stop the big robot Gort from killing the girl, ordering it instead to take her inside the flying saucer. If "ID4" had the kind of story "TDTESS" did, whoa nelly would that film be a spectacle worth nominating for awards. And here's some more completely useless trivia: Klaatu and Nikto were two of Jabba the Hutt's minions from "Return of the Jedi." A little Lucas tribute, I guess. I can just picture the North American continent as I write this, as seen from space. Streams of headlights leading from every region of the United States to one little spot in the northeast corner of the country. Kind of like "Field of Dreams," but without spooky ghosts or James Earl Jones. Hope y'all have a good time. - - Carter "If You Build It, He Won't Come" Navarro P.S. - I just really set myself up on that one. At least Tom's not around to take advantage of this opportunity. I've read in a few places that she will be playing the Puyallup Fair on September 22 with Neil Young, but is she doing any solo shows in the state any time soon? Or maybe even the Bay Area (California that is) as airfare from here (Tacoma/Seattle) to there is very cheap for a while. Anyway, anybody who can help (Hiranya?) would have my undying gratitude. Everyone sit on their own little pity pot! By all means, lets through a big old pity party! This one will be a rager, I'm sure. Also in reguards to Duff's comments: i've been thinking about this since rosie... Miss Jewel looked beautiful of course, BUT she looked really tired, i know it was early and she's been busy recording and everything...BUT i think she needs another vacation, especially before she goes on tour again...? just a thought. DuFF I completely agreed. I actually thought she looked sad too. She looked tired and a bit sad to me. Of course most people would take her smile at face value, but if you look in her eyes, you can see. I hope she does rest up and take care of herself before the tour. Okay! Enough concern. I'm now going to get back to planning our pity party. Anyone who wants to come, call me. Hey, maybe we can all meet on IRC tonight and whine together?? You know, if someone on this list really loved us they would take a laptop to the show and give us all a play by play of what is happening at the concert. Anyone?? What? As if? Yeah, that's what I thought. Okay, I am getting way too pathetic for even myself to handle. I am out of here.
