My friends, alas they are all 21 and I am just 20, went out to the bars so I was left here in my place alone. That is OK because I had just received my copy of Tori Stories and the Innerchange Tapes. I must say that if you don't have a copy of Tori Stories, it is worth the 75 bucks. Song For Eric rivals any a capella I have ever heard. Purple Rain has new and strange meanings today. I will bringing it to the show if anyone wants to sample it. I listened to half of Innerchange and loved it. I think it is best to listen to that kind of stuff alone where you can concentrate on the content. I personally feel weird when I play that stuff for my friends. They always look at me like what the hell is this. What they don't see has become my breath. It inspired some interresting dreams. This morning I knew what happened word for word but I forget a lot now. Here is a brief overview. I like reading about other peoples dreams so I figured maybe somone would want to read about mine. I remember a river. I was on the other bank looking across at a group of people on the left in blue shirts and Jewel was to the right alone in I think a peach shirt leaning against a tree. My sight seemed to pan across the scene like in a movie. Then I remember standing between Jewel and the crowd and the leader of the group was saying something. Then he told Jewel and I to go dig over there. We eneded up in the middle of the stream digging and talking. I forget what I said but she said, " I hated you." I said, "What do you mean." It was all very casual. She started telling me a story of something that I had written to her in a letter. The letter itself was made up in the dream. It was something about my grandmother and in the dream I remembered it. I never really wrote anything like this but I think that I must of had a dream some other time about it but I don't remember it. Anyway I woke up in the middle of the conversation and thought to myself, "That was really cool because it was so casual, like talking to a regular person." That is the first real Jewel dream that I have had, well that I can remember at least. I had a really cool Tori one a little while back. Just three more days and I am out of here. I look forward to this thing. I am a little scared though. I am pretty shy. I have this image of myself running around and having a good time and then I have an image of myself just sitting over in the corner all alone wishing that I would have brought a friend eventhough all of my friends are dopes and don't like Jewel. Sorry for the length. This is probably it for me for the week. So much to do in the next couple of days. Rich Melko rwm126@psu.edu ################################# Jerry - You're Crazy. Speaking of covers, two suggestions that I have never heard mentioned that Jewel would probably do better covering than most that has been suggested are the following. Cat Stevens-His poetically simple songs are similar to Jewel's folk-ier tunes and her voice would kick ass on stuff like "Where Do The Children Play?" and "Wild World". Barbara Streisand-Just imagine Jewel doinf "Memories(from Cats)" or "People." Wow. Of course, I still would die if she did a cover of the greatest musician ever, and fellow New Jerseyian, Bruce Springsteen, but that's hoping for too much right? Anyway, the concert will hopefully not be our last chance to see Jewel at a small venue, she'll never be that popular I hope. I still disagree with those who want to promote and comercialize Jewel, WWSYS is already ruined forever for me and it is one of her most stunning lyrical songs. I was supposed to get them Friday, but as I mentioned earlier I was very busy. As soon as I get them I will post telling everybody how great they look :-). IF you have anyquestions about shirts, please, please, please read the FAQ before emailing me. 2) Non-Jewel Posts I like 'em. They are our comic relief. As long as they're aren't too many and people put NJC (No Jewel Content) in the subject what's the problem? If you don't want to read 'em delete 'em. 3) The Harris Brothers The scarriest thing about the Harris's is that we still don't know which one is the evil twin. I hope it's Dean since I'm probable car pooling with Dennis to JewelStock. 4) Frisbee's at JewelStock I think we should have a pro-frisbee rally before JS. I am a fan of the Frisbee and I own several. They just have to kept out the hands of certain individuals. Mike and Sinjin you can't stop Dennis. I am going to smuggle him in hidden inside of a box of JS t-shirts with a stack of Wham-o official size and weight, regulation, type A100 frisbee's equipt with cloaking devices. 5) Blue Ribbons Good Idea. 6) Guitar Lessons I had my second guitar lesson and now I know seven six chords (G, C, D, Am, Em, and B7). I forgot to bring a tape so my instructor could teach me WWSYS, but when I told him what I wanted to learn he already knew it (so know I am really impressed by him). I working hard trying to get it down, but I always mess up going from the C to the G. I think I'll bring my guitar to the jam session and just wait for WWSYS. Also, my instructor said he was very impressed with Jewel because she didn't do the same old stuff on the guitar. Alternate tunings, and different chords and combinations from most of modern music. 7) Camping at woodstock I'm not camping, but my sister who lives in NJ and her husband like to go camping around NY state and they were planning to go to woodstock next weekend. However, the people at the campsites told her they were full, "Because of some concert." 8) Longest sublect line I think I hold the real record (since Dean's and Mike's have been declared above the legal limit and Jeff said we can't play anymore) Last week I accidentally typed my first sentence in the subject line. It must of have been over 100 characters, but Jeff didn't complain so I am declaring myself champion. 9) One last thing I don't know if anyone else is doing this but rather than listening to Jewel non-stop until the show I am denying myself Jewel. (I haven't listened to anything since thursday) So that JS will be an even better show. See that, I told it would be long I should go four days with out posting. I am just bursting with stuff to write. I'll probably think of something as soon as send this message. See those of you at the show who are going and my condolences to the rest. pjk ------------------------------ From: Eric Montas Date: Mon, 15 Jul 1996 02:08:54 GMT Subject: Oh no! Deadlier than Frisbees! i have discovered a new weapon that can be used to thwart any and all of Sinjin's defensive efforts: sliced pepperoni. they are similarly shaped to frisbees, but smaller. thus, they can be smuggled into the venue more easily. they are also more inaccurate to throw, but a well-trained pepperoni hurler can hit a target from 25 feet away. their small size makes them harder to see until the very last second, in which case, jewel may end up with a red spot on her forehead - not from blood, but pepperoni! their reload time is up to 2 seconds faster than a frisbee! thus, high numbers of the projectiles can be in the air at one time. only a human with lightning fast reflexes and Olympian-level acrobatic skill can hope to stop such a threat without the aid of a highly expensive laser targeting system. can Sinjin step up to deny this threat? will all pepperoni deliveries to Woodstock be turned away? does anyone have an answer to stop the madness?!?!!
