Disregard if Recieved on Thursday (7/11) For anybody who is awake and knows something about chemistry in general, I have a giant favor to ask; Could you please help me with my chemistry paper? The paper is a summary of articles having to do with chemistry. Being the procrastinator that I am, I put the project off until the day before it was due and then simply photocopied a few articles from "Science." The problem is that they are WAY OVER MY HEAD in terms of terminology and just basic concepts that the authors assume are known by their readers. Please, if anyone can, HELP ME! I am in dire need of assistance in this field. Anyone who understands the following passage, is most likely qualified to help: "The powder x-ray diffraction pattern was consistent with a face-centered cubic structure (unit cell parameter = 10.28 angstroms)." I reiterate: Any help whatsoever would be appreciated! Thank you for taking the time and in advance for any help. Confused Student, Ben Scott Note that if this letter is recieved after the night of 7/10, it would not be necessary to reply as I will have already turned the paper in. Details magazine questions the last 5 or so years of music and wonders if we are coming out of a musical depression (that is not a direct quote). I am inclined to agree, with allowances. But it is *completely* a matter of opinion. Yah, well i have always had times over the years that very little of the music being released did anything for me, and then in a few months great songs were released (at least to me). Has anyone else experienced this? There was nothing that compared to Jewel when i first heard her on Mtv (WWSYS) late one night last summer. It broke one of my musical droughts. The only reason (other than it just being me) for these cycles i could think of was that the lack of decent new music inspired artists to sing/write- heck, i even considered it sometimes ;) From the JS FAQ: Q: I wanna give Jewel a present at the show, when would be a good time? A: Via Hiranya, here are Jewel's current thoughts on it: "Jewel is given a lot of gifts which she enjoys and appreciates. However she wonders sometimes about gift giving to celebrities. "Stars" are given so many gifts, freebies, favors etc and they are sometimes the people who least need it." ^^^^^^^^ Did anyone else read that frisbees the first time through?! Tee hee- i did. Whew, you guys won't let up on the posts just cause i'm busy, will you? Anyway, confirmation from Akira should be enough to rest your mind. I has been MY intent all along to get a list of attendees up on the mailing-list and the Web Site. I prefer you to re-read all of this post, BUT AT THE VERY LEAST read down to and including where I write "7/10/96 READ THIS!!!!....", it explains a little RSVP procedure for this. Remember, we need NAMES with RSVPs. Due to lighter than expected responses for Friday's show, we are able to open up to you the ability to attend BOTH JewelStock shows. We have a little over 100 spots available for Friday. We anticipate those filling QUICKLY with this new opening. We HAVE to limit it ONE guest as we fully expect 50+ list-members to RSVP themselves and their guest, as almost ALL list-members going Thursday have a guest coming. (No flames here please on the ONE guest, this was decided upon at the meeting with Lenedra on June 29th, and it HAS to stick for logistical reasons...you'd understand if you were arranging these shows) Also remember Friday will cost $15 to get in. . ************************************ 7/10/96 READ THIS!!!!: To RSVP for the Friday show whether or not you are going to Thursday's show, just RSVP for Friday, no need to mention you are going Thursday, you've ALREADY done that. Just treat this as it is, a NEW RSVP, same rules apply as below, ONE guest maximum and we NEED names!! Any QUESTIONS, EMAIL me (Mike Connell) or Akira. Akira will try to get out confirmations as soon as he can, but please remember, this takes time. . ************************************ The following re-posted info is for the benefit of those JewelStock attendees who may not be able to access the JewelStock Website. It will be re-posted every 3 days or so. If you can access the site, I suggest you do also, there is some more info on the site...maps, photos etc. The URL, username and password for the site is below. For info on show/date specifics, see the post entitled "JEWELSTOCK: Shows" . ------------------------------------------ To attend either show you MUST be a subscriber to either the jewel@smoe.org mailing list or it's digest form. All prospective attendees must have re-RSVP'd/RSVP'd on Sunday June 30th or after. Previous RSVPs (those sent from early June to about June 27th) must be redone! This is due to the new "one guest only per list member" rule, and the inclusion of a Friday show. RSVP Procedures: read and please FOLLOW TO THE LETTER! 1) You MUST RSVP to Akira at chi3@ix.netcom.com (DO NOT RSVP TO ME!) In the subject PLEASE put JewelStock: re-RSVP -or- JewelStock: RSVP This is to make it easier for Akira to spot re-RSVPs/RSVPs 2) You can RSVP yourself only -or- you and only ONE guest maximum 3) You can now RSVP for either or both show(s) [new...7/10/96] 4) You MUST supply your first and last name, AND the first and last name of your guest in one of the following scenarios: a] If you know both names when you RSVP (I know that sounds odd), all is OK, do it b] If you want to bring a guest and do not know which one yet (i.e. cannot supply a name), then RSVP for two, but get us/Akira the name ASAP!!! c] If you cannot get us the name of the guest until the day of the show(s), either you must arrive at the door WITH the guest, or tell us the guests' name at the venue (if the guest may be arriving seperate from you) 4) If you and/or your guest must cancel, contact Akira ASAP. We likely will need the seat(s) In other words, no one gets in without us having their name, or at least arriving at the door with the named list member. So, in a nutshell: To RSVP you must supply us with: 1) The show(s) of your choice 2) Your full name 3) Your guests' full name (following the scenarios above) and you must re-RSVP ONLY to Akira chi3@ix.netcom.com Any QUESTIONS on RSVP Procedures, please contact me or Akira, Mike Connell ducksoup@spectra.net 7/10/96 - -- |~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| | | | JewelStock Online is at | | | | http://www.theartof.com/jewelstock | | | | username = angel | | password = racecar | | | |~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| - --------------B0A10702701-- ------------------------------ From: diciccda@saber.udayton.edu Date: Thu, 11 Jul 1996 08:35:48 -0400 Subject: Re: jewel NEWS list Hi Angels! much to my dismay...there was not enough interest in starting a separate jewel NEWS email list :( i especially think that the waters got muddied when someone else proposed a jewel newsgroup. i never had a newsgroup in mind. newsgroup is surely a misnomer because they are usually full of fluff, but they are the best place to be if you like flamewars. i was very diaspponted this week when sensible suggestions were scorned or ignored. I was just reading the "latest news" on the web site and I realized, this is still a nameless person. If I knew who he/she was, I could start a fan club and say I was there to see him/her... oh nevermind, bad idea. I still want to know though. Also, I think all of us should do what ,um, somebody did yesterday, concerning the NJC posts... put something about Jewel in your letter, even just her name, then go ahead and weirdly write away. You know, sometimes I pay more attention to the random, weird posts than I do to the real Jewel ones. What Jewel did at Java Joe's will probably never have an impact on me- but the Wild Kingdom will always hold a special place in my heart. This list is much more fun with all the personal touches- I've gotten to know some of the people here really well and I think it's great. I think this makes 5 times in the last couple months. Maybe a record. :) It was a small article on last years MTV Beach house compared to this years. They were listing things the old one had compared to things the new one has. One of the categories was musical acts. Lo and behold, for this years house our lovely and gracious Jewel was listed with two others whose names elude me now. I still think she should have her own TV show. Don't have a format, but anything with her would/should be a Nelson rating winner. I never tire of seeing her and hearing her unbelievably wonderful voice. Therefore, if you haven't received a confirmation from me in the past 3 days, please email me telling me that your system is up again. I am presently just making the real physical members list right now, and updating it with the last minute entries. I have also thought about posting the list up on the web site, but there is one problem. Since we have opened the friday show, there have been alot of emails requesting seats to that show. Also People have been emailing me daily changing there guests from person to person, from 1 guest to no guest daily ( you know who you are =) ].
