I went to the fair today and purchased 3 tickets. I have gone to the fair each of the last 10 years. This is a massive county fair held at the Del Mar Racetrack. The concerts are held on the racetrack. For the concerts, it holds 12,000. Not real intimate. The stage is set up on the near part of the track. It is usually a very high stage. The general admission is standing room bring your own seats. This is the closest to the stage but you are on an asphalt area and looking straight up. You do not have to buy a ticket for this area, only admission tickets to the fair which are $8.00. For reserved seats in the grandstand its $10 + $8 to get into the fair. Reserved seats guarantee a specific seat as well. Keep in mind that is is a huge fair and the show is on Saturday. Crowds can be like Disneyland and a lot of people who are not fans will wander over because it is a free concert with fair admission. For that reason alone, you should plan on being there real early. Today they had Merl Haggard and people were lining up as early as 4:00 for the 7:30 show. The only show they had so far that was ticket only was Alanis Morissette. She sold out back in April and people still started lining up as early as 11:30 for that show. I believe parking is $4. Save money and traffic hassle and go east on the Interstate 5 exit for Via de la Valle to the free parking at El Camino Real. Free shuttle bus takes you to the main gate. If you park at the fair you probably will need to take a tram anyway. Beach is only a few blocks away, so come early and spend the day. Hope we can meet some of the list humans. If you need any other info, I'll be glad to help. Still some reserved seats left as of 2:00, but going fast. And if you do, anyone want to share a ride from the airport, around 11 AM? Rental cars are crazy in New York. And for info: Newburgh Airport is running specials right now so they are cheaper to fly into than Albany. Both airports are the closest ones to Jewelstock. Distance is maybe 30-40 miles. For example, I found a flight from Tampa, FL to Newburgh, NY for $176. Same flight into Albany is $296. Big difference. And those rates include a Saturday night stay so plan on spending some time in the area. Without the Saturday night stay, you're like a business man, the same flight jumps to $776!! Again, big difference. In my case, it'll cost two hundred in gas so the flight is cheaper and quicker plus I save a couple days of work but then I have to stay over longer and rent a car. At least, I'll enjoy it more this way. Get to know the area. :) In comparison, Greyhound amazingly, wants $258 to take a thirty hour bus ride! Amtrak, although a nice ride, wants $301 coach for about 28 hours. What kills me is the NY rental car prices, Budget wants $47/day for a compact! "Dialate" is a wonderful--especially "Dialate" and "Untouchable Face". Don't get me wrong, she does get on the positive side in a good many of her songs. She is just straight forward--very, "fuck you you fucking asshole for breaking my fucking heart." :) That's what I like about her. She let's us who are heartbroken and angry GET angry--and feel better. Listening to "Dialate" has been wonderful release for myself. She also started her own label and has done, like 8 albums. Very prolific, like Jewel. Maybe one day Jewel and Ani could get together and do a duo about a relationship. Jewel could sing about the positive parts of the relationship, like, "we made pancakes and made love in the morning" and then Ani could sing the negative, "I wanna throw fucking pancakes in your face, you loser!". :) Sorry, got a little carried away there.
