Or if you like Al ("Year Of The Cat") Stewart, check out his "Rhymes In Rooms" cd for an acoustic duo live set with PW... And yep, PW's a darned busy musician, he's on a *LOT* of albums because he likes to work with (and learn from) a lot of different people... All in a day's work! Your name and email address will be under the heading of one of the branches. That person listed is your branch. That is who you will be getting the tape from. Please email them and start to make arrangements to get the tape. DO NOT WAIT TO HEAR FROM YOUR BRANCH. It is your duty to contact them. If you are sure you signed up, but cannot find your name anywhere, you can let me know. Maybe they'd agree to post the results again. You'll find that Jewel appeals to a wide range of people in almost every aspect (age, politics, religion, etc.) I'm a 45 year old, ultra-liberal atheist. I've seen people as young as 15 here. It's great, isn't it? I prefer Jewel do what she wants to do, and not be influenced by public opinion--even if that public is her loyal fan base. I think Jewel succumbing to these types of public pressures is more a form of "selling out" than touring with a band or reworking songs in full arrangements, which some on this list seem to see as selling out. Also, for those people who think that Jewel playing anything but solo acoustic guitar is selling out, I heartily disagree. I think Jewel's first album was primarily solo acoustic guitar only because that's what she had experience doing and what she could afford to do at the time. SHe owned an acoustic guitar--so that's what she used. She had a strong enough voice and guitar skills that the record company felt the songs could stand on their own without a lot of extra production--and it was much cheaper to produce the album without adding a lot of studio musicians, etc.--thus keeping Jewel's indebtedness to Atlantic and Atlantic's own investment risk to a minimum. Now that she has a successful album behind her, I expect Atlantic and Jewel herself to be more willing to invest in more studio time, hire studio musicians, etc. Jewel now has much more experience working with other performers, and is beginning to broaden her vision as a songwriter--now being able to "see" full arrangements of songs where before this might not have even occurred to her as possible. I certainly don't object to sending Jewel the petition, or having people sign it, if they believe in it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I'm sure Jewel appreciates any input she receives from fans. But I don't think its in the artist's best interests to become too concerned with what their fans think, nor do I feel its the role of fans to try to direct an artist's career. But then I don't even like it when people shout out requests at concerts--unless of course the artist specifically asks for requests.
