First and foremost, Jewel is a goddess. Now with that our of the way, I will talk about Smoking. I have no problem with Jewel for not smoking pot. There's absolutely nothing wrong with either decision. I myself choose not to smoke. However, it has nothing to do with morality. The decision is based, quite simply, on the fact that it is illegal. It is not worth getting thrown in jail and having your reputation destroyed over. The bottom line is, it's no big deal. Regardless, if Jewel smoked or not. . .She's still an incredible musician, and she's still as beautiful as an angel. My concern is for the list members who CANNOT MAKE THE CONCERT! for I am one. I imagine there are alot of members who cannot make the concert(probably more CANNOT make it than can). How can we be included somehow in this GREAT event? I will tell you...a professional VIDEO recording can be made of the concert and sent to the list members who cannot attend. Not just an audio recording, but a video. Maybe even a short shot of Jewel saying she "Wishes we could have made it" or something to make it more personable. Maybe even some short shots of some of the list members. I know I would like to put some faces with the words I've been reading from all of you. To all you lucky people who CAN make the concert, please put yourselves in our shoes. And to all the people who CANNOT make it, what do you think of this idea? Please let Hiranya, Akira, Bill, me, etc. know what you think. First off: Sorry to bother you folks about this, but I have lost my original FAQ's, which have the directions on how to subscribe to the list. I'm going to start using Netcom and get off of aohell...so, if someone could please send me the address, etc., I'd be very grateful! Thank you, Katie ps--Do you all really think that the Jewelstock (which I still don't fully understand) will be confined to this group? There ARE some folks who never post, ys know...can we trust them? And of those who are on the list and don't post, don't you think that they may be journalists, rekkid exec's, etc.? In fact, most of my friends are happy that I don't drink or do drugs because they can't imagine what I would be like if I did. Unlike you it does bother me when people smoke (weed) or even drink. I think that the main reason is people drink and do drugs to escape reality on some level. Even if it is just to let them relax a little. I like to face life head on no matter how bad it looks. The main reason I don't drink or do drugs is that I like to pride myself on thinking clearly and looking at things logically and I don't want anything to effect that. I was happy to hear that Jewel doesn't smoke since there are so many artist who do and it's rarer nowadays to hear an artist say right out that they don't do drugs than that they do. I mean, of course, that I had listened to it before by I really paid attention to the words and the sound today. It has to be one of the most beautiful songs ever. Not only does Jewel showcase her impressive vocal ability, but the lyrics are touching as well. After hearing that it was written for a friend whose father died the songs meaning really over powered me. If anyone else has never really given this song a chance I suggest you give it a good listen. pjk - -- "Proper treatment will cure a cold in seven days, but left to itself a cold will hang on for about a week" - Henry G. Felsen ------------------------------ From: schoon@thor.pla-net.net Date: Tue, 11 Jun 1996 22:19:53 -0500 Subject: No need to smoke I think that Jewel has no need to smoke pot because she has the life she wants. I mean, most people I know that got hooked on that stuff felt desperation in changing their lives. They felt hopeless, and then out of the blue, they make a new friend who convinces them that there is no way to fight, so they might as well give up and wipe out their brain cells. Jewel has no need for a synthetic reality. She knew that even if she had to say, sleep in a van for awhile, that was better than giving up. She struggled in order to live her dreams instead of frying her brain to the point where she was so stupid she only thought she was living them. (that's how I feel at least!) So, I've gotten some possitive responses from Angels about the idea of having a Woodstock type logo for the Jewelstock T-shirts, with an angel pirched on the neck of Jewel's guitar instead of a dove. Now all I need is a small sum of money from each of you and I'll gladdly let you use my idea. Just joking guys. Someone said there is already an image similar to that on the Web but I haven't seen it. I'm on AOL and it downloads at the rate of about 3 bytes every 6 weeks.
