Already sent him mail- if anyone else would like stuff scanned or posted to the web i can do it- please coordinate beforehand though- i don't want to come home to 30 envelopes one day ;) Also, please use me as a last resort- it's the Engineering Business office's private scanner(nice)- i have been given the ok for private use, but i don't want to wear out my welcome. Send your designs to me and i'll post them- anything else please coordinate beforehand. (NO binhex encoding people, i sometimes can't decode them. If it's absolutely all you can do, i'll try my best. uuencoded only is good though or even better put them on the web and point me to where they are...) Lastly, pjk and i have been emailing about a JewelStock Tshirt- a simple design that wouldn't cost much and be easy to print before the show. Here's the url: http://www.auburn.edu/~juddjam/pics/tshirt/JewelStock.html Just change JewelStock.html to index.html for all the Tshirt designs and shirt color choices. NOTE: The design is pretty much a go/no go thing, since we don't have time to get voting done, designs in, etc. Just follow the instructions at the bottom. I have a design i'd love in mind (and described on the page) but there's really not time to mess with it- i'd rather have pjk's design than nothing at all. (not that i don't like his- i do) Thanks, James _________________________________________________________________________ Auburn University Eng. He's the one doing the actual work and deserves the credit. I get all my info from him. Sabra's design has been posted to the design page. **If your design is missing please send it- i'm caught up right now. I think i missed doing someone's design when the servers were taken down for end of quarter maint Friday, and wouldn't want anyone to feel slighted.** I'm super-keen on the video tree for JS since that would be a great recruiting tool and a wonderful keepsake! Legal? We await your voice Hiranya... i feel so sorry for her having to sort through all this! I think we should just not make a big deal of the thing outside of the list and there'll be no problem. As far as numbers of people at the concert... there are under 500 people on the list. We can expect at least half won't be able to make it. And if people can bring 0-3 people with them we won't be over 700 at the concert. That'd be bigger than the time i saw her in concert but it'd still be great. STILL can't believe i passed up a chance to say hi to her at that concert. She was chillin at the bar and i was too nervous and wouldn't have known what to say. I wasn't a huge fan at that time so i didn't feel too bad till now when she got so big and aside from maybe at this jewel-stock i will never get a chance to say HI jewel. Oh well. WE are supposed to find a date and place not on the weekend. It's a Late-evening concert on a weeknight. And then we need to run it by jewel Lenedra (is that how you spell her name?) She doesn't have time to arrange it so she's letting us. A big thanks to those are trying to make this concert happen and to those trying to make this shirt happen. Thanks Jake ------------------------------ From: GRobe10258@aol.com Date: Sat, 8 Jun 1996 22:47:36 -0400 Subject: tee shirts Hi everybody, so I guess we are not going to do the tee shirts as previously suggested. Mr Servo is going to do them. I was summarily told by Mr Servo that he was doing them and I was out of the picture and he accused me of doing this for my own profit and all kinds of other stuff. Okay, if he wants to do it then I will step aside but he had better do a damn good job or I am going to be very disappointed. We were going to print these on 100% cotton fruit of the loom shirts in 6 colors using our state of the art design facilities and printing presses. I defy you Mr Servo to come up with this kind of quality this quickly and get it printed in time at the price you are asking. Art was never created by committee. Art is created by artists with years of experience in the particular medium (in this case screen printing). If you let an amateur design your shirts then the shirt will look like it was designed by amateurs. This was to have been a labor of love for us not an effort to snuggle up to and bask in the reflected glory of someone else's talent. In my medium my art is as respected as Jewel's is in hers and I resent someone without experience or talent accusing me of profiting by her. I am sorry this is so negative but Mr Servo's comments were totally uncalled for. I guess the proof of the pudding will become apparent when you hold Mr Servo's efforts in your hands at the price he is quoting. Thanks for hearing me out......... a very disappointed Gordon ps. Maybe I will post our design somewhere and if anyone is interested in it then maybe we will print it anyway. ------------------------------ From: JewelFan@aol.com Date: Sat, 8 Jun 1996 23:07:07 -0400 Subject: Re: Woodstock or bust depending on when the concert is I might be. :) but you'd have to put up with my loveable cousin! i'll be on long island in august. ------------------------------ From: Katie McCurry Date: Sat, 8 Jun 1996 23:58:04 -0400 (EDT) Subject: Coming through Knoxville? A number of you have written about what should have been done, and what = shouldn't have been done. Frankly I think that we should be focusing = more of our attention in getting this event moving, instead of thinking = this should have been done vs. what should have been done. So let me address some of the issues that have popped up repeatedly = from some people:) Experience: what experience do i have in planning something like = this... Good pt. For two years running i have been co-organizer on my = college activities board. I've helped arranged for performances of = comedians, musicians, classical concerts, and open mike nights. The crowd = of these turnouts range from once 5 ~1000 + people. Not that I will = perfectly execute this activity.... but I do have experience first hand = in what will be needed to get this thing going :) I have also worked on = various telethons....Red cross, and hospice care... And due to popular = belief... I am NOT 13... but in my 20's. Jumping the gun: Another great pt! What myself, Mike, Bill, and others = are doing is just scoping out some venues that might hold a range of = people. Some fellow angels live close by, and we have asked for there = help in suggestions. BUT WE HAVE NOT FINALIZED ANYTHING YET. We have = written and are waiting to talk to hiranya for more details, before = doing anything more. People... its only been 36 hrs. since we began this = project... Help: YES we will need all the help we can get! Anyone that thinks if = they can offer some skill to pull this thing off.... email us! We will = get back to you with what we need, and/or if your skill is necessary at = this time. Remember we're doing this together... Venues: Welll like i said before... until we hear from Hiranya, nothing = is solid. I am taking a very very rough head count of people and are = trying to limit it to something that Jewel would enjoy, as well as us. = Taking this into consideration, plus the fact that we need to find a = venue that will hold the size will be difficult. JEwel is doing this = out of the kindness of her heart for her fans, and that is why we must = make it as comfortable for her as possible. I mean how would you like to = go from one recording session to play in a concert setting with 500+ = people. I want to be fair for all her fans and to her.... which means = making a limit on the people per group... say 2 people for now. If = things change.... I promise to email you angels asap telling you that we = have more room. I am keeping track of all the people who have emailed me = and need more tickets.... EXPENSE: important topic,.... good topic. $, what we have in mind right = now is for you to keep your money safe... that means with you. Until we = have a more definite answer from the big H, nothing is concrete. When we = do, we will email each and everyone of you that has contacted = chi3@ix.netcom.com to RECONFIRM your trip to the concert, and the = payment will be at the door. Which means you have nothing to lose if = Jewel can't make it.... and you have all to gain. Keep in mind that I, Mike , and Bill have only been working on this for = 36 hrs. and are doing our best to pull this thing off. I,myself, have = already organized a bunch of stuff ... and just happy to do this for my = fellow angels. I hope that i have answered all the important questions = that you might have... if not, you know where to contact me. I also = haven't taken anything sent to me too personally, vs. popular belief.... = just as constructive suggestions:) I apologize for stepping on any wings.... and have acknowledged the = fact that I might have jumped the gun on this thing too soon. For = that.... sorry:) But can we just be positive and work together on this? = I will be happy to hopefully meet all you angels when we pull this thing = off, and joke about all this later...And now back to your regularly = scheduled program;) ... PS... ( not for Steve or paul) but in reponse to one really flaming = letter from a "fellow angel" : Last time I checked God's name was not = Damn! ------------------------------ From: Chopped Liver Date: Sat, 8 Jun 1996 22:19:01 -0600 (MDT) Subject: Re: PLEASE READ ALL... Okay, if he wants to do it then Ok, I don't remember seeing anything from "mr servo", but I'm all for having a PROFESSIONAL do the job. Gordon's (GRobe10258@aol.com) offer seemed quite reasonable. I saw Gordon's offer, but just didn't have time to respond. You all know how time consuming and difficult communicating on a mailing list is. We were trying to come up with design, have a contest, and produce a shirt in just a couple of weeks to a month. I submitted two designs, but I gotta tell ya, I don't think that is the way to go. Let a pro do it. Using Gordon's input on the spirit of Jewel and her fans, I'm sure they can dome up with a great design. Gordon, if your still willing, please don't bail on us yet. And, Mr. Servo, I agree with Gordon, I'd like to see this professionally done.
