Talking to a few of the people on the list I have decided it would be a good idea to have a seperate shirt for the concert. So I came up with a Jewel Stock logo (James will announce when it is up on his page). Here is the deal I have them ready to go and if we have more than a weeks notice before the concert I will have no problem getting them printed in time. I will sell them for $10 at the concert (maybe less depending on how many I get). What I need to know is how many people would want them. So look at the design and mail me at pjk@cybercom.net telling me. I am going to the concert and would want a shirt. I am going to the concert but would NOT want a shirt. I am NOT going to the concert but would like a shirt anyways. If I get more than 50 people wanting shirts I will have them made and have them forsale at the show. So if you are interested please give the design a look and mail me I need to know if the is enough interest to have them made. pjk ps I am not making any profit on this I plan to sell them just above cost to allow for free-shirts for Jewel, Hiranya, and all the people who have helped me. While that is a noble gesture, i feel it is not realistic. It would make most sense to TREE both any quality audio and video recordings. By using a tape tree, we can assure that no one goes crazy trying to fill all the requests. :) Also, a tree would assure that tapes are circulated quickly and to as many people as possible. I really want to see jewel-stock become a reality! Since we are all working towards this common goal, i want to volunteer to do something to help out. :) I volunteer to organize a tape tree for audio and video recordings of the show. I would sincerely hope that Alan does the recording for this event, and he could then send me copies of the show to circulate for the tape tree. I wouldn't make the trip for just any old Jewel concert- the reason i'm willing to make the great effort is the nature of JewelStock- it should be one of the last times anyone can ever get the chance to see Jewel like it was in the good old days in an intimate setting while having the unique condition that NO ONE will talk while she is playing. Please! Then people who wanted to read stuff like most of this post would be able to read it there and those who want to just chat about jewel could stick to the main list. As for me, I'd subscribe to both and be happy that there would be some organization regarding my mail. my own concerns (not accusations, just wondering; keep that in mind) about jewelstock stuff: I agree with Steve Ito, too. He voiced my concerns expertly, especially regarding Akira (TETSUOOOOOOOO! KANEDAAAAAAA!). No need to rehash any comments or to stir up animosity. Just reassure the general populace on this list that you are capable of co-handling the organization and not just doing it because you are cosmic and have a lot of free time. ANd how can you determine who can make the show when the date isn't set? I've read several posts by people saying they could only make it on certain days or timeframes. And about allowing guests per person: I was pretty bummed about the Boston show because there were people talking. We've read a lot of posts on this list about how there are fly-by-night jewel fans (any on this list? raise your hands heehee) who talk and are disrespectful during the concert (I'm not talking about screamers who only want yodelling cause I realize that we wouldn't do that). Does anybody else fear that bringing along somebody who you think might like the Jewel concert might lead to some people getting bored and talking or people just conversing because they aren't as staked into Jewel's music as other fanatics? I'm not wording this quite right, but please don't read it as a personal attack saying screw all the people you wanna bring. Just another thing to consider. And size of the crowd. There are almost +400 people on this list with new recruits everyday (as evidenced by their recent questions about the event). Say 200 people go. OK. Say each person brings 2 guests. We're up to 600 people. At least in places where I have seen concerts, that's quite a lot if you want to maintain an intimate feeling if you're in a club or bar. If you move it to a concert hall, there would be more space (you'd have to sit, though) without significant loss of intimacy (i think so. I mean, I felt real close to Sarah McLachlan when I saw her in 1200 seat concert halls and auditoriums, and it seems like the people in canada who saw her in such places loved the concerts) Here's something that might frighten some people on the list and especially Akira: Rolling Stone magazine has a top twenty reader's poll of albums, and Jewel just popped up around number 11. Expect a deluge of new subscribers to the list. other stuff: About that JeweiJK@aol person: is that person saying that they are jewel and speaking as if he or she was her? Unless that person is explicitly stating that s/he is Jewel, I say let him/her keep the name. Just a person that has been creative in his/her obssession (one step ahead of Carter and Sinjin, I'd say and much like any other person who uses some phrase or word that identifies with a popular thing). Of course, if this is an imposter, than we should beat him/her senseless. That's about it, I guess. I'll be there with bells and whistles on.
