I'm glad she didn't stay out there, because it could only have gotten worse. She's gotta keep steppin' up, but this one was a little bigger than she's ready for. I can't imagine what she was feeling after she walked off that stage. Actually I think I can, just a little, and that's what distresses me. Hopefully she had lots of support from her tour people and close ones. She knows she has our support, but right now it's probably all those people who weren't her fans that are foremost in her thoughts. At least she's faced this sort of rejection before, on a smaller scale, opening for other bands, so she's not un-equipped to handle it, but she's still gotta be hurting emotionally. So, when I heard Jewel was playing in Raleigh, NC on May 30, I was ecstatic. I convinced a few of my friends to go because I want them to experience this wonderful music. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled. Could someone tell me why (was it because she was sick)? First of all, whoever wrote this should get their facts straight before making such bold statements. While I can't speak about other countries, I do know that in America during the Reagan years (yes, the years that liberals like to call the decade of greed) the gap between the poor and the rich actually narrowed by quite a bit. Since this person conveniently left out any numbers to back his/her claim, I'll do the same. I have been on the list for about a week now (since the show in Orlando) and I have been very impressed with what I have seen. Dean. I must admit the Reagan picture is a bit misleading. It is a printed on autograph, and was acquired by a third party. Concerning politics: This country does not need a class president who everyone thinks is cool. It needs a crochety old Principal who can take care of business. Bob Dole is that crochety old man. Anyway, about my own personal Jewel fascination: Three weeks ago I saw the video on MTV. One day later I read someones web page about her, and was very impressed. The next day, I bought the album. The next day I heard about a show in Tampa. I was all set for my own personal road trip via motorcycle from Orlando to Tampa. Silly me. The next day I found out there was a show in Orlando. I planned on going by myself (I didn't even think to ask anyone), but my friend who got me the ticket (I was out of town for the weekend prior) found three other people to go as well. I'm sure that I am leaving out small details like how I watched MTV for four hours straight to see the video, and that Jewel's CD is the only CD I have ever bought, but that is my story in a nutshell. I wish that I had met the folks who were at the Va. Beach show. It would be great if we all could spot each other amidst the great crowds--that are getting BIGGER! How about a contest to design a tshirt or just posting an idea and then having a vote. I know that Jewel has this little design of an angel that is done in black--kinda cartoon-like. I think that it's somewhere on the net--? Maybe we (Hariyana) could get her to draw one for us and sign it. That way we could have a picture by Jewel and her name on it. Any other ideas? Peace, Katie ps--I spotted Jewel on the VH1 concert info thing.
