The DC festival was such a mess. One of you reported it from the front of stage very accurately and insightfully right down to the frisbee. Behind the scenes: She was sick as you know and the band wasnt with her--an error on the part of the record company, she really needed a band to have any chance with that line up. But the big problem was that the rep who was with her was unprepared, didnt have directions to hotel They were so lost that they didnt have time to go to hotel to chill and shower, then he didnt have directions to the stadium and they were lost again and Jewel got really tense. On top of exhausted and sick and dirty. She was sposed to go on at 3:45 and she arrived at the venue at 3:45. She said it takes her at least 30 minutes to prepare for something like this where so much is stacked against her and she got shoved right out on the stage. When the frisbee hit her she didnt have the energy or the heart to pull it together. There were no reserves. Shes really sorry for those who came to see her. She knows that in the crowd there were sincere fans who were disappoint ed and said she hopes you get to see a really terrific show that makes up for it. PS, Jewel likes the Cranberries. She just plays around with the imitation. Hiranya ------------------------------ From: Hiranya@aol.com Date: Sun, 2 Jun 1996 17:09:02 -0400 Subject: Re: Ms. Ungayness Shes had that belt for years. We are a small graphics company, and are specialised in designing and producing posters and T-shirts, caps and labels/stickers. We have done this type of work, that is designing a fanclub logo for mailling lists and producing T-shirts and caps etc. for several other mailing lists (Queen, Genesis), and they were very happy with the results. Now, the list members can meet up somewhere and recognise eachother. They can spot eachother at concerts, an most important of all, they can show off that they belong to your mailing list. We hope we can do the same for your list. Reading the little bit of info you had on the Web, I assume you already have a logo, if not we will be glad to provide you with one, at no extra cost. Maybe you'd like to update your logo? We can do that too... We have the lowest prices around for T-shirts (only $18,95 *including* setup fees, designing etc for a white tee, L or XL) and caps $14,95 (again, including setup fees and designing). As a bonus, we have no minimum order, so people can order directly from us, one or more t-shirts/caps at a time. And, in addition, as we have done for the Queen list, we can handle distribution to individuals to help keep the cost down for everybody. I believe we can make you a fair price for what you need, Yours in music, Erwin Willow Farm Graphics www.magmacom.com/~yearwood ------------------------------ From: Piglet Date: Sun, 02 Jun 1996 18:59:29 +0600 Subject: Re: Offer (fwd) sounds cool to me that is if the logo looks good Robb [w/ guests 12' Godzilla and Fuzzy the purple bear] You can't talk to a phsyco like a normal human being -- Poe (the female type musician) ------------------------------ From: Wendel Date: Sun, 02 Jun 1996 19:18:03 -0500 Subject: Re:Jewel On The Radio hi all...Adam's right, there's been a surge of local support reciently from two local radio stations, 103.3 WRZX and a Bloomington, IN station, 92.3 WTTS. It may lose fickle fans, but i can't see many people getting to know jewel's music the way i have through this list (thanks!) in person with the crowd chanting for her to yodel. I'd rather see her fans be thoughtful, loyal, and in sync than to have twice as many fair weather fans happy that she yodeled. Her music is strong enough without gimmicks to attract fans. (even though i enjoyed the yodeling too- it pains me now) Sure, they will chant for her to yodel for a while, but after they don't hear about it for a bit (and more of her music is introduced to them- what single be released next, BTW?) i think they'll get the picture. I didn't understand what jewel was doing not putting chime bells on POY, but oh boy, now i get it. Guess that's why i'm not in the music business- jewel's management deserves a pat on the back for that one! That's what a girl is sposed > to do unless she wants things to stay how they are. Hey, radical thought here. It goes against everything all of you have ever heard, but I don't think it's necessary for EVERYONE to have SOME BIG OPINION on every political issue and be totally informed on all the crap. The only people who should believe that are people in politics stroking their own egos on how important they are. Yes, it's important, but to me, Joe Blow, life muddles along more or less as usual. So yes, we should try to follow what's going on, and whenever we get the opportunity, put our support where we think it can help, but dammit, we don't ALL have to be political activists. And just because you're not as politically informed as the people on the news DOESN'T mean you can't make jokes about politics. That should be everyone's right as a citizen of this country (or any other country for that matter). When you pass a law that says I can't make jokes, THAT'S when I'll become a political activist. > >On some things, Rush Limbaugh doesn't go far enough- on others, > >he's out there. > Ever read Rush Limbuagh is a BIG FAT IDIOT? No, well it's probably because > there are no dittohead to laugh at his lies and agree with him there and he > might be shown up by people that have the information correct. Well, I'm becoming more of a liberal Democrat all the time. At one time I would have called myself conservative, but I think _practical_ is a more appropriate label for me, and one that I would be proud to wear. It means that I support things that I think will actually work and make sense (and are FAIR), and not things that I just wish would work, or are good just for ME. I have watched Rush Limbaugh's show several times (read as, between ten to twenty times), just to do my part to be informed and give his views a listen. For nearly all of that time, my flesh wanted to crawl, no, run screaming from my bones. Why? Because I did know enough to tell sometimes when he was lying, or twisting things, pulling them completely out of context. And surely there were more cases that I missed. If someone lies to me even once, they have lost my trust and must work hard to get it back. And I don't consider more lies working hard. Occasionally Rush is completely truthful with legitimate points and people think "Look, he was honest and right about this. The other stuff that I don't have the facts on must be true too." This is what frightens me most about him. The best liar is the one who knows how to use the truth. So I guess we agree on Rush, Jake.
