First of all I have to disagree with whoever said she was in a great mood (James?). It didn't seem that way at all to me. There were so many technical problems--her guitar going in and out during quite a few songs--It looked like she was starting to get pretty pissed. She was rolling her eyes alot, rushing through songs, played a really short set, hardly told any stories or interacted with the crowd, messed up lines and left out entire verses to songs etc. etc..It seemed to me that she was in a rush to get out of there about halfway through the show. It seems like she has basically been sticking to the same set list at every show with the exception of a song or two. She asks for requests but rarely takes any. I was really shocked by what she wore last night. I think it was the same outfit she wore on Letterman. Really short black skirt and little black shirt with patent leather black heels. It was really strange. I'm just not used to seeing her dress that way but I'm not even going to get into that. I also noticed that she has a tattoo. Does anyone know what it is of ? I could only see a small part of it. Just curious. Well, thats all I'm going to say for now. I just hope the show tomorrow is better. And may I say that they are fabulous, hilariously funny and full of texture, great storytellers and singers, a ball all around. Dressed in matching K-Mart overalls and laying the inbred country boy thing on a bit hard (Stinky, the drummer, is particularly good at this...goes by Jeff offstage, I understand) they are a thrilling answer to the malaise creeping up the pop charts. If you haven't seen them yet, SEE THEM. "Dick's Automotive," a long song (Arlo Guthrie length, easy) about getting a job fixing cars even though you can't fix cars because you have a girlfriend named Jewel who sings hit tunes, is a total scream. (Sorry, I mean "it's the bomb.") There was the occasional crack about how she's gone gold and they've gone tin-foil, but what would you expect. She didn't want to cancel shows, but now wonders now if fans would have been better off. She doesnt have energy for much. So that explains some things. She's ready to take a break and get on with the new CD. On clothes. Jewel travels with one small duffle bag. She never gets around to shopping so you see the same outfits reappearing alot. Clothes arent too much of a priority with her, too much of a bother to buy and plan out and care for. And on the road its impossible. But she like a variety of looks, jeans, short skirts, elegant. She said she's a versital girl in most things including her songwritting and her taste in clothes. She will be on the Tonight Show again on Tues. This coming Tues. It just came up yesterday. They've requested Who Will Save Your Soul again. We were told that its the first time in the history of the show (including Johnny? not sure.) that they have invited an artist back for the same song. She may do it with the Counting Crows again. Or solo. Any good thoughts for her speedy recovery will be much appreciated. She's worn out. In seven weeks she has only had 4 days off and has been in a different town most nights. While shes in the studio I'll be getting reports from Lenedra, who will be with her, and I'll send them along to you. Pre- production starts on the 8th with her producer, guitar player, and Jewel. June. Recording starts on the 18th. In preproductn they will choose songs to focus on. Of course not all song will be on the CD. So I'll let you know. And the idea that anyone would take such an opinion seriously is silly to her. She fell into the trap of thinking she should have an opinion just because someone asked her for one and she thinks what she said on the spot was STUPID. She is thinking it all over cuz itll come up again. Jewel's main political stand is there is so little choice and so little difference these days that whats a girl sposed to do? Besides Dole fits in a song better. In her shows everything of this nature is subject to poetic liscense. But who she supports is a matter she doesnt yet have opinion on, given the choices. I've been in a grumpy mood this past week since i had to put off work for school. Sorry for my lack of restraint. Jack said: ...difference between republicans[dole] over democrats[Klinton] [is] MINISCULE.. I don't like dole, i just dislike Klinton's record more- i wish others were in the running. I vote for the individual. Southern democrats are cooler than dole can hope to be. (but decide for yourself- you know where i stand, but it doesn't matter any more than where jewel stands- hey, there's a *little* content :) - - Gun control, school prayer, abortion, welfare mothers... these are the morsels - - tossed out for public consumption by (and distraction of) us unwashed masses - - to wrangle over while "our" elected officials, Democrats and Republicans - - alike, almost all of whom had their campaigns paid for by the likes of - - cigarette companies and corn syrup manufacturers, attend to their REAL - - business of transferring wealth from the many poor and middle class to the - - comparatively few rich. This doesn't all make sense- even if politicians have no motive towards the future good of our country(which i don't believe) they would have one definate motive- to get re-elected. To get re-elected they have to please the mass of voters. If they make voters happy, they get re-elected. If they don't, they don't. Disregarding the future of our country doesn't please voters. Taking money from them doesn't either. The trick is to play their little game- support an organization that has your interests in mind- as a lobbying group you have more power than you do as an individual. - - (There is a greater disparity of wealth in this - - country than at any time in its history, and certainly more so than in any - - other Western "democracy.") Well, i'm not sure of that fact, but it doesn't matter to me. Yes, it can be difficult to get off the street once you're there, but it can be done. Our welfare system disgusts me- why is my money(taxes) going to people too damn lazy to work?! I say no work, no money. Crazy? Anyone that needs work can come to Auburn- Wendy's is hiring. I have worked shit jobs before so there's no reason anyone else should think they're too good for it. They're saying they are better than me. That makes me angry. I don't have a problem with government helping people get started again who are trying- but they aren't entitled the help and should be gracious for it- then everyone would be better off poor included since there would be no shame. Why don't those on welfare have to pay the money back? I have to pay my student loans back(or suffer the consequences). - - So even as the third-worldization of this country continues unabated I say "good" since it's just darwin at work- unless people who want to get their lives back in order aren't given the opportunity. Poo poo on the slackers. Jewel worked as a waitress trying to get her career going. Look what she's done for herself. Do i look down on Jewel because she washed her hair in the sink at Denny's? No, i admire her for it. It's a kind of a silly analogy, but she was trying to better herself. Hey, there's more jewel content :) - - military spending continues to suck us all dry even though there are NO - - wars we want to fight Wait... you feel like America is going down the tubes but don't want to help other countries' people out when baddies take over? A military cannot be raised overnight. Well, we are supposed to be able to... but the idea of a true militia has been abandoned my most Americans and is not as viable today as it once was. Still necessary mind you. - - James, are free to lie awake at night worrying about the IMPORTANT issues, - - like your right to purchase an AK-47 and buy cheap bullets at Wal-Mart. - - - - So, what's it going to be? James PS: Tom, you're evil man! You can always get me going... There goes my catching up on work for the next hour :) (FYI, Tom and i enjoy debating privately and have gotten into some quite lengthy discussions- we're talking about pages and pages... and we became friends and know each other much better for it. Do it early in the morning. I just did mine 3am and was getting 99.9 to 100% of the transmission. 2. Some people were concerned that they did not have enough hard drive space to download the whole thing. There is no need to use the hard drive if you have a) soundcard and b) a stereo with input sockets. Instead of downloading the concert to your hard drive, just let RealAudio play the concert. Then connect your output socket from the soundcard to the input of the stereo. (since most soundcard has only one output socket, you will need a Y splitter.) When you have the soundcard and stereo connected, then you can tape record the concert while RealAudio plays the concert. I hope this made sense.
