Hey, I've been getting a lot of private e-mail in the last couple of days responding to my post and asking me for tapes. ANd while I do love all of you I can't halp because I don't have hundreds of different Jewel shows sitting around. I wanted to apologize to the whole net if that is the impression I gave. I will help with what I have (That one no-so-great bootleg, rare angels, and innerchange to be arriving shortly) but I can't help those who want shows from D.C. or Seattle or anywhere. I don't mind answering you but I (I have no idea what that massage is from my computer, please disregard...) Again if you do have tapes of shows and would be willing to make one copy, I can handle the rest. But, I can't handle tapes I dont' have and I dont' want to tell people I can. If you still have questions about contacts for the two major tapes or even my crappy one (which isn't really mine but that girl Leana's, those of you who remember) I'd be happy to answer them. Sorry to ramble to all of you but I thought I should clarify because of the influx of letters from people that I then have to dissapoint... For those of you unfamiliar with the show, Acoustic Cafe is a nationally broadcast show focusing on singer-songwriters. The cool thing about this appearance by Jewel is that she will be doing cover versions of other songs along with Edwin McCain on vocals. I don't know which cover songs she and Edwin McCain have chosen to do but a friend of mine that has already heard the recording says that it is excellent. Here in Detroit, we get Acoustic Cafe every Sunday morning from 9:00am until 11:00am on CIDR 93.9FM ("The River"). As for other affliate stations, you can e-mail Acoustic Cafe at "acafe@ic.net" or check out their Web Page at: http://web.cgrg.ohio-state.edu/folkbook/radio/ac.html Hope you all get a chance to hear Jewel and Edwin McCain. - -Steve ------------------------------ From: teffta@crypt.erie.ge.com (Andrew R. Acoustic Cafe is a new, two-hour weekly syndicated radio show focusing on yesterday and today's singer-songwriters and highlighted by in-studio interviews and live acoustic performances. Although it's designed primarily for progressive and adult alternative radio formats, this is music that really defies labels. It's just good acoustic music, plain and simple, from legends like James Taylor, CSNY and Little Feat to newer voices like John Gorka, David Wilcox, Dar Williams, Christine Lavin and Nanci Griffith. Acoustic Cafe is produced in Ann Arbor, Michigan and is hosted by Rob Reinhart, 33, a 16-year broadcast veteran and partner in Reinhart, McReynolds & Magnus, producers of the show as well as syndicated morning show comedy. As of February 27, 1996, Acoustic Cafe airs in 38 markets in the United States, and is heard in over 800 cities around the world on the Voice of America network. Or was she improvisin' and messin' around. It sure didn't sound like anything on "Rare Angels" or "Innerchange days" Also, I picked up the YWMFM promo with 3 versions on it. Does anyone know where the acoustic version is from? It sure sounds like studio, but then again I could be fooled. The Innerchange had, unfortunately, a history of near-misses as far as closing up shop. Many people supported them in spirit but went elsewhere for their coffee. I had the luck to see Jewel play at an Innerchange benefit concert & acappella with Steve Poltz. It would seem that the Innerchange's luck has run out, right before their money did. Reminds me of a story I heard somewhere. Rich, affluent community has this drugstore that's been around for generations. Right in the middle of all the business, it even looks nice from the street. Big drugstores like Sav-On and Thrifty pop up, local small-time pharmacist is worried. Business slackens, his stuff is overpriced when compared to the supermarket stuff. Two months later he puts a sign in the window announcing his shop will be closing. Over the next week esteemed people in the community march in, ask "How could you possibly be closing? You're a treasure of the neighborhood!" Pharmacist: "Well, when was the last time YOU bought anything here?" - -- J.j.
