I'd been talking about Jewel for a long time with her, but she still haddn't heard her until now. New fan:) I like the CD version of Foolish Games better, but I'm not complaining. Now, for the Seattle show that was originally at The Backstage, is it definately at the Showbox now? I checked on ticketmaster online and they don't have showbox listed as a venue in seattle, and they don't have any mention of Jewel coming. I'll have to call around (does anybody have the showbox number?) I've been hyped ever since I read Andrew M.'s post about it being all ages. I'm 14, and I'm dying to see her. Does anybody know what time her set starts? Unfortuantely, it's on aThursday, and i've got school the next day..but it'd be damn well worth it.:) i'll go now. phong What I learned I rejected, but I believe again I will suffer the consequence of this inquisition If I jump in this fountain, will I be forgiven? -Alanis ------------------------------ From: Matthew Surles Date: Fri, 2 Feb 1996 01:47:16 -0500 Subject: Conan and Leno appearances Since Jewel will be appearing nowhere near where I live, I was wondering if anyone had her Leno or Conan O'Brien appearances on tape that I could get a copy of?? But I am still willing to give away the promo cd and it'll be through a random drawing. So if you are interested, send me your name and email address to my personal email address and I'll randomly pick a winner sometime next week. Please do not clutter the list with the entries (send it to my email address ) and send only one message per person. This is the official announcement of teh Inner Change Days tape tree. This is a collection of songs from Jewel's performances at the Inner Change in 1994 compiled by Jeff Hanson. It consists of three sides on two 100 minute tapes; a total of 37 songs, including one cover, a series of duets with Steve Poltz and 35 songs not found on Pieces of You or Rare Angels. This is also the sign-up for branch leaders on this tree. The branch leaders are volunteers willing to make 6-10 copies of the tapes (depending on number of volunteers and number of leaves), and send them out to the leaves. Basically, the tree administrators (in this case me and Christopher Vaught) make the copies for all the branches, and each branch makes copies for a number of leaves. If you are not able or willing to be a branch, do not despair. After the branches are selected, an announcement similar to this one will go out asking for leaves, people who simply want copies of the tape. The criteria for being a branch would normally be the quality of recording equipment, so as to provide the best sound quality for everybody. But, never having run a tree on here, I don't how much great recording equipment we have on the tree. So our major criteria is your willingness to make copies and get them out promptly. If you volunteer you must be willing AND able to make 6-10 copies very soon after you get the tapes (remembering that each copy is a set of two tapes). To sign up, please send me the information listed on the form at the end. As soon as the branches are selected, the tree administrators will send them their copies of the Inner Change Days tapes. We will then arrange a trade with each branch leader, or have the branch send us blanks and postage. The branch leaders will then be assigned a number of leaves after we hold the leaf sign-up. The branch leaders will then arrange to make a trade with each leaf, or will arrange for the leaf to send them blanks and postage. This will all be detailed in the leaf sign-up. So, if you would like to volunteer to be a branch leader, send me email with the subject Inner Change Branch. In it, give me this information Name: Email address: Postal address: Recording Equipment(if you don't know that much about it, just say so, and try to describe it, i.e. normal boombox): We will notify you whether you are a branch or not, and if selected I will send you more detailed instructions. Here is the setlist of the two tapes: Side 1: Without You By My Side Billy Sometimes It Be That Way His Pleasure Is My Pain Train Song (Pale Shade Of Grey) A Housewife's Revenge Been Down So Long When I Was With You Money With You I Will Always Be All The Animals Star Child The Poem Song (Wild Horse) Side 2: See Sassy The Man Who's Already Gone 501 Beauty Queen Silver Satin Wings Afraid It's Too Late Walk Away Chime Bells Ring I Don't Care Dance Between Two Women Momma's Little Hero Swedish Lullaby Can't Take My Soul Just So Happens Side 3: Foolish Games Tiny Love Spaces Comfortably Numb Spivy Leeks You Were Meant For Me Silver Lining Food Stamp Love Love Is A Rose Daddy She's A Goddess Where Have You Gone, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean Old Lover's House Whew! I managed to tape most of the show, though I missed WWSYS and a few other songs when my batteries died and I had to put in fresh ones. I would be willing to contribute my tape for the future Radio Angels tape. In the meantime, I would like to get a copy of the Rare Angels tape. Please e-mail me and let me know how I can get it. I'm a huge, huge Tori fan, but I spend more time introducing people to Jewel! Besides, noone ever askes enlightening things about Tori either, as example, her guest spot on Regis and Kathy Lee. It was a Tori fan that introduced me to Jewel. He told me that they have a lot of similarities and I would thank him later for the introducing me to her. I love Jewel and all of her work. But frankly, I am a much bigger Tori fan. I think that fans of Jewel should check out Tori. It is not a conspiracy and I don't want you to like Tori more than Jewel. We Tori and Jewel fans can see the similarities and we want to share both artist with all of our friends. If you hate Tori, that's fine. Don't criticize the "Tori fans" for trying to introduce people to Tori. Her music is wonderful and we just think that there are more people out there who will enjoy her work. Sorry I don't have the setlist but I'm sure someone else will post it. I'll just give my impressions. This the best show i've seen in 96 (this was the first i saw in 96, but was one of the best in a few months anyways). SHE WAS AWESOME. Played a lot off of POY and some new and old stuff too. Played a "blues" song. The yodel song (great), catch a cold song, money, and a bunch of other stuff. She bantered with the crowd, asking people to be shut up (nicely) a few times. Someone asked for Adrian but she said she forgot how to play it. Instead she played a new song called Fat Boy, a eulogy for someone whe knew in Homer as a child (weeding pototoes?) who recently kiled himself (sad). She seems to be playing a lot of "catchier" songs. Anyways, the way she emoted the songs was great. Much better than the album. Seeing her on stage putting feeling in it was incredible. Waited outside in the freezing cold for her to get to her van. When she finally came out she pretty much bolted, said whe had an appointment. I managed to get up to the window of her van as whe was driving off and gave her my CD to sign along with the trusted sharpie magic marker. She signed it (yea) along with one other persons poster, i guess i'm lucky. I think the "appointment" might have been with someone in the audience she knew from minnesota that she talked about during the show a little (seeing him in dance class in his tights). Just a guess. Anyways, a great show steve ------------------------------ From: "Dannii McLin" Date: Thu, 1 Feb 1996 19:18:16 +0000 Subject: How can I get a message to Jewel? There are so many songs that I like so much that I honestly would not be able to pick a "favorite" one at this time.
