I'm kinda new to this stuff, but I have an idea to run past ya. I'm looking to add to my very small collection of Jewel recordings (audio and video), and I wonder if there's anyone out there who has stuff to trade? Just in case I don't have the right Jewel stuff to trade, I do have some pretty cool stuff from other artists. (ie. Tori Amos) So...If anyone is interested in starting something up, please let me know. Thanks! I've watched it a few times and never heard that song. It's a fun little sampler. It's a bit odd though to hear Jewel and then some of that hard core stuff on there. It's a diverse mix that's for sure. :-) Carolyn ------------------------------ From: "Matt Bittner" Date: Mon, 8 Jan 1996 11:37:57 -0500 Subject: Concert updates? Hiranya? Anybody? Yay! Umm...what radio station is broadcasting the show? I might wanna tape it, too. Oh, is anyone else going to the show in Northampton? I guess I should write other things here that I want to write so that there aren't ten different postings from me today to this list. I am Paul Kim, and I just got back to wonderful Amherst College (dammit, not UMass) from Aberdeen, MD just before the snow hit. I had around 450 messages waiting for me because I left Dec. 21 and had no access to my e-mail and am subscribed to this list and the Sarah McLachlan list. It seems like there are a lot of people here from the MD, DC area, what with all the posts about the 9:30 club. I was wondering if and when Jewel played on Just Passing Through on WHFS and if anyone taped it. Damn HFS for having her and Heather Nova and Joan Osborne when I'm away at college. Oh if anyone cares, Who Will Save Your Soul was in the teens for the top 99 songs of '95 on WHFS . Another thing. Some time ago when I first joined (back in Nov. or Dec.) I asked if anyone wanted me to post my favorite whatevers, and someone suggested that I compile a favorites list of all the people on the list. I thought about it and was scared about the overwhelming volume of mail, then I remembered the old Homer Simpson saying about hiding under a pile of coats and hoping that everything turns out ok. So I devised a plan to compile a list, a scheme so devious, even the Mulder and Scully wouldn't be able to understand its complexities: I think that it can be done alphabetically. Alright, the problem now pops up about where the lists should be sent. I think it would be hunky-dory if youse peoples would send your favorites to my address, and I can tally them, thus keeping the volume on this list down. Still, it might also be fun and inspire people to write to each other privately if the lists are sent to here so that everyone can compare and contrast (ooh...English class terms) their favorites and we can all pretend that we know a little bit more about each other when we really don't. So I say, send your list either to the server-doohickey-person or to me at pkkim@unix.amherst.edu but not both!!!! Rules of the game: list-10 or less favorite musicians/groups/composers/etc. (try to keep it to ten and not too much over) 5-10 favorite movies 1-10 favorite TV shows 5-10 favorite books or authors a handful of favorite actors and then actressess any favorite publications such as magazines, newspapers, fanzines (hey there's an idea, a Jewel fanzine or something), comic books, cartoon strips YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LIST THE NUMBER THAT I HAVE SUGGESTED OR EVEN ANYTHING IN ANY OF THE CATEGORIES!!!!!! Top three favorite Jewel tunes (kinda like that contest in Spew magazine, where the winner got a signed Pieces of You cd and a CD player. I entered the contest, but I dind't win. sigh. Hey is the person who won on this list?) You can add your own category if you so desire, but keep the number of new categories and favorites reasonable. I don't want to be any more not wuite sane than I already am by having to deal with favorite type of cloud (cumulo nimbus) or favorite element on the Periodic table (Radon, followed closely by Adamantium, I mean Oxygen). If you want to do this, the listing will begin on...I guess Wednesday would be as good a day as any. If you think this is a bad idea, don't do it, and maybe enough people will agree about the badness of this idea that I will get a very small amount of entries and I will not bother to tally it and will feel ok because it's not the end of the world and we can all get along and still be friends, right? So the Schedule: Wednesday, Jan. 10th: Last names beginning with "A"-"D" Thursday, Jan. 11th: Last names beginning with "E"-"H" Friday, Jan. 12th: Last names beginning with "I"-"L" Saturday, Jan. 13th: Last names beginning with "M"-P" Sunday, Jan. 14th: Last names beginning with "Q"-"T" Monday, Jan. 15th: Last names beginning with "U"-"X" Tuesday, Jan. 16th: Last names beginning with "Y"-"Z" and any stragglers I hope (note the use of the clause "I hope" and not the word "hopefully;" if I were to have used "hopefully," that would mean in a hopeful manner, which is not how I am writing this. I am writing with trepidation and a fear of rejection and a fear that someone will tell me to shut my keghole, 'cause who do I think I am, the guy who runs this list? 'cause I'm not) that this works out and that we can join hands in a spirit of love and harmony to make a happy list. Thus ends my long winded missive. Paul "There sure is a lot of snow blowing around outside. MMM...that lamppost looks mighty tasty; I think that I shall taste it with my tongue" Kim Post Script: please also list where you are and/or where you are from so that we can have a general idea of the population distribution of the list. *hugs* and *sighs* from me to you:) ------------------------------ From: "Colin J.
