I'm from Alaska, and saw Jewel in our local paper a few years ago, shrugged. Bought her CD. I'm now a huge fan, and am exhilarated that such a wonderful artist grew up just fifty or sixty miles away from where I did. Once I started mentioning her to my friends, they said oh yeah, my folks know the Kilchers. Small state. Anyway, just for the record Homer, Alaska is probably one of the top 20 most beautiful places on earth, and I intend to spend a lot of time exploring over there this summer. She was supposed to play in Athens, GA driving distance from Savannah, but I called the club it was supposed to be at, and they said that Edwin McCain (the other band touring with her) didn't like Athens, and was not going to play there. Frustration! Does anyone know if Jewel will be playing in the SE again? Or Alaska, even... I was told she did some duets alongside Steve Poltz with whom she shared a "romantic performance charged with sexual energy towards each other", as my friend theatrically put it. I did not see this show, it was just mentioned to me today. I'm not sure if she performed with Steve Poltz solo, or with the Rugburns.
