Pretty good compilation, that covers a wide gamut of artists. Even though Jewel is not on there, it is a pretty good album. IMHO. ALbum is called Voices. Check it out if you so choose... > > Date: Sun, 18 Dec 2005 06:43:26 -0800 (PST) > From: deirdre > Subject: [EDA] Re: female artists > > <> > > I'm so glad that you brought up Ellis Paul! Is this the first time his name has come up on this list? He's not female, but he definitely has a way of moving me and calming me down like Jewel does. My brother introduced me to him about five years ago and he's on my top ten list now. > > Amy Lee of Evanescence has also hit me very hard in the way that Jewel did in the past. Very different genre of music but she's a great songwriter. I got my white elephant today from Angela Field in Australia (strangely enough, I was her white elephant too!). She sent me an Australian postcard, a lolly wrapper from a Jewel concert she went to (how random!), a booklet of Australian Wildlife, a recipe for Australian fruit cake, 2 Cds of Australian music, a mixed CD of Jewel songs, 2 packs of "Fruit Tingles" (a candy by Wonka that I had never heard of before- must be an Australian thing), and, best of all (to me), a bottle of Vegemite: concentrated yeast extract (which I'd never heard of before, but its vegan, like me, and I can't WAIT to try it!!). So, thank you so much Angie! This is a super awesome White Elephant!! Josie The Vegan Angel Tired of spam? Yahoo! Yes, moving me and calming me down...I so relate to that. I listened the Jewelstock tapes over and over again for exactly that nurturing feeling of being moved, calmed down, and also riled up in good ways (uplifted is maybe the word, amused at other times, happy, sad, the whole realm...) Generally, I like music to move me to a deep emotional level. Early Indigo Girls did that for me. Another intelligent female singer/songwriter from the Boston scene to check out is Rose Polenzani. I think she's at http://www.rosepolenzani.com She's certainly interesting and lyrical. Some of her stuff is way over my head and cryptic, but she's intriguing and has a great sound. Music definitely has to hold me and nurture me and comfort me...calm the savage beast, if you will...and when someone can move you emotionally and deeply the way Jewel in many songs has and others have, it is truly transcendal (not to sound like a cheeseball, but I need that experience from music and my favorite singer/songwriters have always been able to do that for me. I hope I do that when I sing...bring something genuine and real to the table that carries more than just words, but deep feeling and something inexpressible from just speaking... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Dec 2005 20:40:41 EST From: rawhite78@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Favorite Jewel Song In a message dated 12/19/2005 4:49:05 PM Central Standard Time, ducksoup@quackquack.net writes: Mine too, but the original version on the Pieces Of You CD. I just got your package today! WOOHOO! I was so excited but then my 10 year old son was like WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU got a package???? Hehehe, he tore into it. My 6 year old had more fun with the packing peanuts and the bubble popps! LOL From Deb I got some scrumdilliumsious frootloop/pretzel/nut munch! My boys were fascinated that froot loops could be something more than a bowl of cereal. It came in a cookie tin that had panda bears on it AND in the tin was a round rock, with what looks to be a hand painted panda on it. Did you do that Debbie? I received a most presious smoked glass snowman that lights up and has the word "Joy" across the top. LOVED IT! I got the Sweet Home Alabama soundtrack..thank you I did not have that. I got some seriously cute socks, the kind with the toes and adorable smiley faces all over it. I also got a rockin picture of Jewel in my card. Deb can you tell me what show that's from? My boyfriend Dave was blown away that Debbie got me this year, because she had him last year! Kewl. Thank you sweetie! Your great. Lauren, I hope you get my box soon. It's coming UPS. Let me know if you want the tracking #. Bill M. yours is coming from David from the internet. I pray you get it before Xmas. I could probably track that too. Let me know if you want that.
