Today's Subjects: ----------------- [EDA] Interlochen Concert ["amy chulin" ] [EDA] Re: Words Get in the Way & MN show [Theresa Bolger Gubrud Subject: [EDA] Interlochen Concert hi guys, the interlochen concert was AWESOME! she did tell, maybe 2, of the same stories but its was still funny to me! she told us a new one about when she graduate from there and her dad came down for it. it was funny. she was right on key, as always, all night long. that girls voice just amazes me every time i see her! we had the greet and meet package so we got to go back stage and get our pic taken with her. it was great, she seemed a little more relaxed this time. a little less nervous. i told her that it was nice to see her again, ( i had seen her last year at meadow brook here in mi.) and asked did she remember me!!LOL ya right! well i explained that i was the one that came with the picture of her dad and her aunt with my mom at my grandfathers funeral and she said OOH YAA, i remember that! i was like ya you guys use to come to my grandfathers rodeos out east end!! she was like... oh thats cool. im sure she was probably thinking god this woman is a freak!! every one else there seemed to be so nervous to meet her and for some reason i wasnt at all. there was this guy there meeting her and he was dressed in spikes and piercings and combat boots and she looked at him and said WOW you got all dressed up just for me!! they got their pic taken and she left and a flock of seagulls flew over and pooped on the poor guy. i was funny but kinda sucked too. she opened with somewhere over the rainbow and ended with the yodel. i can recall the set list in order or nothing i forgot to write it down. she sang... intuition, cold song, you were meant for me, stephenville texas(which she said was going to be on the new album!!), standing still, who will save your soul(without the kermit voice!LOL), 1,000 miles away, hands, passing time, morning song, little sister, and some others i cant think of right now! i was in front the front row and got some good pics. she left the stage and came back out with joe and was getting ready to sing and jewel saw some people getting up to leave and she said to all you people leaving right now" and flipped them the bird" you can go to you car anytime!! i was laughing!! joe and her sang their song together and then she yodeled and that was it. she was rushed off into a van and drove to the airport since they had flown there for the concert. all together tho i really enjoyed the show. caitlin our guide was as sweet as she ever is, and if she is reading this right now, THANK YOU CAITLIN, WE LOVE YOU! well that was that... sorry if i wrote too much!! i cant wait till next year when i get to see her again! take care fellow EDAs. Good Day was in MN show -- Doesn't say anything in the words that sound like Words Get In the Way, so I bet it's different -- Yeah! Another new song!!!! Speaking of the MN show -- got it but didn't get my mic on for the beginning of Somewhere Over the Rainbow cause I forgot I had to turn it on.... Sorry..... Only use the thing for Jewel so I'm not very good at it! Not even started working on it yet but will let you all know when it's done. What shows have people gotten so far? Been reading the reviews for the past shows and have noticed the setlist and story complaints, but has anyone noticed that in a lot of the songs she's sort of not using melody on them? For instance Alice -- the first version I ever heard was so good, but when she did it in MN, she changed the melody and made it flatter -- don't know how else to explain it. I've heard songs from other shows this tour and noticed the same thing in them. I also noticed she isn't using the "unique to the song" strums/picks on songs we all know really well (which help define a song) and is sort of reverting back to a basic strum she uses a lot. Just wondering if anyone else noticed this too. Both these issues almost make a lot of the songs sound the same. Am I nuts??? Has anyone else noticed this? I still am SO glad I went to the show -- and will never purposely miss one in the future as far as I can tell, but I guess I was a bit disappointed cause what puts her music out in front for me are her lyrics, but also, the melodies of her songs.
