It never said much new, other than the album is pretty much finished-- she just wants one or two more good songs to fill it out. The recording is being done in LA. She mentioned that she just finished recording and really loves the songs "Again and Again" and "Satellite." A studio version of Satellite?! I hope I heard that right! She mentioned it containing older material such as Stephenville, TX., and 1000 Miles Away. So-- the album is pretty much done. Its not crazy to be expecting it this summer. I just hope the old material doesn't take up too much of the album-- I love new material too! By the way, I think Unedited is more worth it this time around. They are polling users on what they want for a "Welcome package" and it looks like it might turn out to be a DVD with bonus material. They've posted contests and have already had winners, videos of "I Belong With You" and "Alice In Wonderland" (full songs at that, not just clips or excerpts), and other audio recordings. They also post some cool news now and then. If they keep it up, I might resubscribe. I wonder what kind of champagne it was for Jewel. Maybe it was Miller High Life.. The Champagne of Beers! (It seriously says that on the -can-.. and you get can 30 for 11.99, do the math :) Anyway, I myself have been sort of mock-vacationing from working ridiculous binges, planning a little travel + shopping, and while my tastes are refined more for Corona than something from France, I'd love to toast to the idea of new lyrics and performances with fewer FG, YWMFM, WWSYS, even if I have to wait out a couple of years before she's on the road! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Mar 2005 12:35:50 -0800 From: "EN" Subject: RE: [EDA] Letter From Jewel Hey everyone! When I read this I was kind of sad. I was happy that a new album was coming, but it sounds like Jewel feels burned out! She doesn't even want to perform anymore! I don't really think it's being burned by the 0304 response. That tour was pretty successful. Sure, she didn't get to do many 0304 songs, but that was a good tour. Plus, the CD didn't exactly flop IMO. It debuted well. I hope she doesn't give up. I think she could make a perfectly good living releasing records herself for her fans and touring for us. It doesn't need to be arena-sized, ya know? If she truly meant what she said about loving performing, I can't see her quitting so prematurely ... with all her "I want longevity" talk. Even U2 had 'bad' periods. Everyone has a down period, you can't make platinum albums every time. Alice in Wonderland makes me sad every time I hear it. It's just not a happy song. But I DO love the song. I think it's simple and revealing. Mark has convinced me to join Unedited again. Hahaha. I was just so disappointed the first time around. I suppose I should join again so I'm a member when she tours again! =) Elizabeth, the not-as-often-as-she'd-like-to-tennis-ball-whackin' angel ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Mar 2005 19:22:59 -0300 From: "Fabio" Subject: Re: [EDA] Another message from Jewel Actually, it's not "Satellite". But that she takes her time to finish her new record. Has anyone the thought or feeling that she might quit her singing career? Should i be worried that she only wants to write songs for others and not perform anymore by herself?? What has happened that she postponed the release so much for the new record? She toured so much in 2004 and now she takes such a big break. Has she a little other interest fed? But it is good to hear that she is still alive. I listen now to her Sitar song, one of the songs that saw the limelights in 2004 , i hope 2005 can still be an amazing year for jewel! we, fans, keep supporting her, so keep singing jewel... we have waited so long for your new record, keep your voice sounding like an angel, and everything will be fine!! Jewel , you are the singer we appreciate, but don't let your lives being influenced by crappy opinions! So let us listen to your songs and enjoy the power of your words! bye michiel ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Mar 2005 15:28:45 -0800 From: "Melissa Bruce" Subject: Re: [EDA] Another message from Jewel Whoa!
