Today's Subjects: ----------------- [EDA] 10 years today ["Gerry Lipnowski" ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Thu, 03 Mar 2005 03:21:19 +0000 From: "Gerry Lipnowski" Subject: [EDA] 10 years today Hi folks, Its been quite a while since I posted, but I suddenly realized that it was ten years ago today that I bought Pieces of You, and I thought to whom should I send a message of commemoration, if not to you, my fellow EDAs I had never heard Jewel, or even heard of her, when I purchased POY. Call it a whim, a simple twist of fate, or what you will. But how was I to know how deep the ripples would flow in my life from that seemingly random action. I recall listening to the CD very late that night, and thinking that the opener, WWSYS, was a pretty good song. The next, title cut, less so. Then, Little Sister, which I found genuinely intriguing. By the fourth song, Foolish Games, I was a complete goner. And so it went, and my life was in no small measure changed, but at the time I didn't know by how much. I was tempted to write an extensive note on my perception of Jewels evolution over this decade, but decided against it. So let me commemorate this personal anniversary for me by just saying that CD led me on any one of a number of journeys, some literal, some metaphorical; from loves and friendships won and lost, to magical Living Room Shows and chats with Jewel herself, from here in Montreal to Nashville and many places in between. What a long strange trip its been. Anyway, for those of you with whom I shared even the most fleeting of moments in the common celebration of our love for music, Jewel music and others, I say thanks. Cheers, and have a good night, Gerry ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V10 #53 ***************************
