By rights the album probably SHOULD be platinum in the USA. It's only Gold (certified for 500 000 units shipped), but as you say it's sold over 800 000 in the USA, so it's safe to assume it has shipped over a million. Atlantic just haven't bothered to get the certification (they have to pay for it etc) I mean Pieces of You has only scanned (according to Soundscan) roughly 7 million units but has shipped 11 according to the RIAA. Same goes for This Way - it's scanned over 1.5 million but only certified for 1 million. It should probably be certified for 2 million. > > Date: Thu, 6 Jan 2005 05:10:00 EST > From: WhatWouldJewelDo@aol.com > Subject: Fwd: [EDA] Did Jewel Hate the 0304 tour? > > > I have called Atlantic Records and SoundScan and checked the RIAA and > that is > the Worldwide sales total, > > When you said that 0304 was platinum worldwide that is incorrect > the only way a record can be platinum is 1 million records sold WITHIN > the > country which it is being platinum (Ex, HYPOTHETICALLY - i cant spell- > lets > just say that pieces of you sold 11 mil in the US but an ADDITIONAL 2 > million > copies outside the US. THere's been a campout every year since the original JewelStock...either that or I've been sitting in the woods in upstate NY by myself just imagining all the EDAs there...and it would take a very strong imagination to come up with the stories I have of BV LoL Gina In a message dated 1/6/2005 8:27:10 P.M. From my knowledge there has not been a campout since 2001. I kind of zoned of Jewel from '00-'03 (0304 caught my attention) So I havent been an active EDA since like, a long time ago. Has anyone else heard this rumor. I wish I wrote the website down! See, this is why I need to start using Post-It's!! It's kind of ironic to because I had bought Post-It's the day before. Dennis! Amy! Tammy! It worked! The hypnosis worked!! After deciding in 2001 to not have any more Bearsville campouts, knowing it would devastate Gina not having them anymore, we had her hypnotized in Woodstock so that when she continued to go to the EDA Camp-out every summer shed "imagine" that everyone else was there just like the good ol' days, when in fact she would be there all alone. Amazing! It works! I've got to get hypnotized so I don't bite my toenails anymore! Dennis, you can get hypnotized so you can stop being an unemployed gigolo! Internet Radio Since we're talking about new artists, I thought there'd probably be a ton of people to chime in on rising technology as well. Honestly it seems like for the average $4-5 per month, most people interested in alt-radio would opt for satellite based services, for the small difference more, but I'm hoping there are a few people on this list who can suggest not only their favorite provider, but their favorite channels. I've really only tried out live365.com, I'm not a paying subscriber, which means that I'm willing to put up with the 3-commerical-per hour in exchange for listening to actual variety for my classic or pop-rock moods while at work. I have noticed that in the last few months more and more of the free stations have become increasingly overcrowded with the annoying introduction ads, and there's been two pop-ups per new station instead of one, but overall I'm very excited about *my* internet based radio experience. I trust Harris. James ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Jan 2005 17:48:01 EST From: Tlcathome@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] JewelStock Campout 2005? To clarify, we have had a camping gathering of EDA's every year since Bearsville, however, Jewel has only done the one JewelStock show - which I believe was the point of the original post :-) I wouldn't hold my breath for another actual JewelStock show again myself, but hey, you never know..... Thanx 4 clarifying though. So when is the 2005 camopout? And is there an age minimum? My cousin is 13 and he likes Jewel so I was wondering if I could bring him? ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Jan 2005 22:46:39 EST From: Tlcathome@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] JewelStock Campout 2005? A date has not yet been set - it is usually the closest weekend to the original JewelStock dates, but this past year we did it a few weeks late in August due to scheduling conflicts - When a date is set, I will announce it to the list. As far as your cousin - as long as you are taking responsibility for him, that's no problem. My daughters have attended every year with us and will be 16 and 14 by the time we have this year's event. More specific questions can be directed to me if you have any :-) Tammy :-) ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V10 #7 **************************
