That's probably because it is the most appropriate in the current context of elections here (and in the US); which is perhaps why I've also been playing This Way : The New Wild West is so relevant (and This Way has two of her most moving songs, Break Me and A Long Slow Slide, as well). Fav Jewel Singles: Again, no favourites, but if it hadn't been for YWMFM I would never have discovered Jewel, so I have a very soft spot for it. Fav Jewel Videos: Probably Hands, but Intuition would be a very close second. They are the two videos that are the most revealing of Jewel. And Intuition ends with that heart melting, so very Jewel smile. Fav Jewel Songs: Emily, Break Me, Nicotine Love, Louisa and Her Blue Guitar, A Long Slow Slide, and many more can bring me to tears (Paul Robeson is the only other singer who can do this). Fav Jewel Tour: Spirit Tour 1999 and the 2004 tour (the only ones that have come my way). Favorite TV Appearance: Probably the MTV Unplugged show, with her collaboration with Joshua Redman. Great! Least Favorite Jewel Song: None. Fav Song to shout out at concert: I called out for Nicotine Love in 1999 and for The Other Woman in February this year, but she didn't sing either. Have you met her?: No, except occasionally in my dreams. How many Jewel concerts?: 5 How many times has she come to your city?: Once, 6 March 1999. How far have you gone to see her?: From Canberra to the Hunter Valley, about 500 km, for Valentine's day this year. Fav Jewel Concert: I couldn't pick. They were all great. Least favorite Jewel concert: None Ever celebrated her birthday!: Yes. Coolest Jewel item you have: The 2 X 1.5 m Spirit Tour poster I have on the wall in my living room. And the picture she signed with her own fair hand (Barry heart Jewel), courtesy of my dear friend Melanie. Would You pay $300 for instantlive cd?: No. I'm the only EDA who ... : ... has the Persian (and Arabic) word for love tattooed on his arm, inspired by Break Me (and Jalaloddin Rumi) - -- my daughter subsequently got the same tattoo, but it's a father/daughter thing for her, not Jewel-related as for me. Did you like 0304?: Not at first, but once I got past the music and actually listened to Jewel it has become the album I play most often (as I mentioned before). What drew me to Jewel in the first place on POY I find on 0304 in full measure. The style of music is secondary for me -- for (non-Jewel) music I prefer to listen to blues and jazz, and more lately flamenco, or I go back to the old Elvis records I bought in the 1950s -- it's the lyrics, the themes she writes about - -- which speak of the person she is -- that are important to me. And 0304 is so very much Jewel in that regard. Take care, Barry ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Sep 2004 09:45:45 -0400 From: "Kerri Ketcham" Subject: [EDA] DDDelight Is it just me, or was this the title of a bootleg recording? I know I saw it in a store, I think it was The Great House of Guitars in Rochester. I saw it years ago and didn't buy it, I'm pretty sure the set list was very similar to some angelfood I have. Possibly Jewel Rocks the Paradise. I've seen some people mention the title as a promo recording. Is it? Thanks Kerri "Don't wander too far, my one constant star. Possibly Jewel Rocks the Paradise. I've seen some people mention the title as a promo recording. Is it?<< Yeah, it was one of the first, if not the first, real illegal bootleg CDs, it was not a promo CD. Can't recall which songs, but some of the material on it was on some legit J-team authorized angelfood, perhaps JRTP as you said. (Jewel Rocks The Paradise was actually treed to counter-act a bootleg CD. We had better master tapes and cleaned it up considerably and released what was a better sounding recording than the bootleg CD offered.) Hopefully some longtimers with better memory retention can provide more accurate data as to whether or not DDDelight was from the same May 1996 Boston show JRTP was culled from. Who needs memory when you have Google: "DDDelight, 18.05.1996, Boston, MA, Paradise Theatre" Which is the same date/location as Jewel Rocks the Paradise. There are a few songs that are not from that concert on the CD, including Jewel's YWMFM (I believe, but it may be WWSYS) performance on Jay Leno, and Flower and God's Gift To Women from Save the Linoleum. Hope that helps! *the mystic angel* Jordana "Yeah, it was one of the first, if not the first, real illegal bootleg CDs, it was not a promo CD. Yep - pretty much the set list of JRTP, if I recall correctly. For some reason, I don't have that on the iPod. ANGELFOOD REQUEST: Is it still kosher to be distributing JewelStock? My original of the first tape died, and I'd love to get a replacement, if anyone would be so kind. I'm more than happy to trade - contact me offlist, natch. - -k- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Sep 2004 23:12:24 -0500 From: "Rohaus, Samantha L" Subject: [EDA] Nikos Is this song autobiographical?
